Protolepidodendralean lycopsids are characteristic of morphologically complex *** taxa of this group are herbaceous and widely distributed in global Devonian sediments,with exceptions of a few members,such as Frenguellia eximia from the Lower Carboniferous of *** this study,we focus on the morphology of Frenguellia eximia and emend its generic and specific diagnoses,based on new materials from the Upper Devonian Hongguleleng Formation of West Junggar,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,Northwest China,within the fossil-bearing bed palynologically dated as a latest Famennian *** is the first finding of Frenguellia eximia out of *** eximia bears planate leaf with three upward pairs of lateral tips,isomorphic sporophyll to the leaf,and elongated,oval *** morphology of the members of the Order Protolepidodendrales is summarized and classified into lateral-tip and distal-tip ***-tip type leaf consists of an obvious main body and several paired lateral tips,whereas distal-tip type leaf shows a petiole and a distal lamina with several planate or three-dimensional *** leaf types probably indicate two independent evolutionary routes of microphylls evolving from simple leaf of prelycopsids during the Devonian *** new occurrence of Frenguellia eximia further shows paleophytogeographical similarities between West Junggar and northwestern Gondwana.

Marine vertebrate trace fossils are relatively scarce in the geological record. Here we report on fish swimming traces from the marginal-marine deposits of the Upper Devonian Wutong Formation in Wuhan， South China， which provide information about the composition and ethology of the benthic vertebrate ichnofauna. The fish trails are mainly preserved as irregular or regular， single， paired， or intertwined sinusoidal waves on the upper bedding plane of a quartz sandstone bed. They are ascribed to Undichna unisulca， U. bina， U. cf. britannica， U. cf. trisulcata， U. cf. quina， and U. isp. On the basis of detailed morphological analysis and background data on the Devonian fish fauna， antiarch placoderms and other types of gnathostomes are proposed as possible makers of the trails. Antiarchs are equipped with the typical bony pectoral fins and are probably responsible for U. cf. trisulcata associated with straight marks， as well as for the gradational U. cf. britannica. Jawed fishes with generally high swimming skills and multiple paired fins may have produced the more regular and complex patterns like U. bina and U. cf. quina. The densely distributed， irregular undulatory U. isp. showing frequent cross-cutting relationships likely resulted from a school of small-sized gnathostome fishes.

The age and sedimentary environment of the Silurian “Lower Red Beds” (LRBs)， which occur widely in South China， have long been controversial because of the scarcity of index fossils. Recently， these beds have been dated by trilobites as middle-late Aeronian to early Telychian in age. Here， we report abundant brachiopods from the LRBs in Wuhan， Middle Yangtze Region， including atrypides (Meifodia hunanensis， Zygospiraella sp. 1， Zygospiraella sp. 2 and Nalivkinia? sp.)， spiriferides (Striispirifer acuminiplicatus， Striispirifer? sp.)， strophomenides (Eostropheodonta? sp. and Katastrophomena modesta)， and linguliformeans (Anomaloglossa? sp. and Orbiculoidea? sp.). Most of these are common in the Leijiatun， Xiangshuyuan， Shihniulan， Niuchang， Lojoping， and Shamao formations in the Upper Yangtze Region. The discovery of brachiopods from the LRBs in Wuhan not only enrich the biodiversity of the LRBs in the Yangtze Region， where Meifodia， Zygospiraella， Katastrophomena and Eostropheodonta are first found in the LRBs， but also expand the paleogeographical distribution of brachiopods to Middle-Lower Yangtze Region that first radiated after the end-Ordovician extinction. In addition， this brachiopod fauna also provides important implications for the sedimentary environment of LRBs during the Llandovery， which is usually developed in the nearshore shallow-water (BA1-2)， althought this paper extends to the deeper parts of the shallow-marine (BA3-4).

In-situ formed high Mn steel coating reinforced by carbides was formed by laser surface alloying(LSA).Laser alloyed layers on 1Cr18Ni9Ti steel with Mn+W_(2)C(specimen A),Mn+NiWC(specimen B)and Mn+SiC(specimen C)powders were fabricated to improve the wear and corrosion behavior of 1Cr18Ni9Ti steel blades in high speed *** evolution,phases,element distribution,microhardness,wear and corrosion behavior of the laser alloyed layers were *** indicated that high Mn steel matrix composites with undissolved W_(2)C,WC and other in-situ formed carbides were formed by LSA with Mn+W_(2)C and Mn+NiWC while SiC totally dissolved into the high Mn matrix when adding Mn+*** as the binding phase in Ni-WC powder decreased the crack sensitivity of the alloyed layer as compared with the addition of W_(2)C *** improvement in average microhardness was achieved in the matrix in specimen A,B and C,with the value of 615,602 and 277 HV_(0.5),while that of the substrate was 212 HV_(0.5).The increase of microhardness,wear and corrosion resistance is highly corelated to microstructure,formed phases,type and content of carbides,micro-hardness and toughness of the alloyed layers.

This editorial assesses the prognostic value of preoperative inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers in patients undergoing surgical resection for pancreatic *** et al evaluated the ability of seven biomarkers to predict postoperative recovery and long-term *** biomarkers were albumin-to-globulin ratio,prognostic nutritional index(PNI),systemic immune-inflammation index,neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio,platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio,nutritional risk index,and geriatric nutritional risk *** PNI was found to be a strong predictor of both overall and recurrence-free survival,underscoring its clinical relevance in managing patients with pancreatic cancer.

In spinless systems,growing attention has recently been attracted to synthetic gauge fields,which redefine the fundamental crystal symmetries by utilizing the projective algebraic ***,synthetic gauge fields have been commonly investigated in single orbital systems,and explorations on hybrid orbitals remain elusive in ***,we report the experimental observation of hybrid topological phases induced by hybrid synthetic gauge flux,which is formed by the interaction between p and d orbitals embedded in acoustic *** breaking the translation symmetries of Lxand/or Ly,we unambiguously demonstrate the first-order M?bius edge states and higher-order corner *** work establishes a platform for seeking exotic topological phases induced by hybrid-orbitals interactions and initializing the framework of hybrid-orbitalsrelated topological *** applications can be anticipated in scenarios such as high-quality sensing and robust wave trapping due to the stepwise energy distribution of the hybrid topological phase.

This editorial examines a recent study that used radiomics based on computed tomography(CT)to predict the expression of the fibroblast-related gene enhancer of zeste homolog 2(EZH2)and its correlation with the survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).By integrating radiomics with molecular analysis,the study presented a strategy for accurately predicting the expression of EZH2 from CT *** findings demonstrated a strong link between the radiomics model,EZH2 expression,and patient *** noninvasive approach provides valuable insights into the therapeutic management of HCC.

Acute central nervous system injuries,including ischemic stro ke,intracerebral hemorrhage,subarachnoid hemorrhage,traumatic brain injury,and spinal co rd injury,are a major global health *** optimal therapies and improving the long-term neurological functions of patients with acute central nervous system injuries are urgent *** are susceptible to damage after acute central nervous system injury,and this leads to the release of toxic levels of reactive oxygen species,which induce cell ***,a selective form of autophagy,is crucial in eliminating redundant or damaged mitochondria during these *** evidence has highlighted the significant role of mitophagy in acute central nervous system *** this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of the process,classification,and related mechanisms of *** also highlight the recent developments in research into the role of mitophagy in various acute central nervous system injuries and drug therapies that regulate *** the final section of this review,we emphasize the potential for treating these disorders by focusing on mitophagy and suggest future research paths in this area.
