Simulation and analysis of the long-term impacts of 1.5°C global climate pledges on China's land systems

Global warming has become a shared issue for humanity. At the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2021, participating countries reached climate pledges aimed at making more proactive contributions to limit the global average temperature rise within 1.5°C by 2100. Land system changes are significant responses of land to climate change. As one of the contracting parties, China has proposed climate targets such as carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals in recent years to support the global pledges of limiting global warming to1.5°C, which will profoundly impact China's future land system changes. This study focuses on China as the study area,produces data with a thematic resolution of 27 types of land systems, integrates the output of various land types by the Global Change Assessment Model(GCAM) into four categories of land service demand, and combines these with the improved CLUMondo model to simulate China's land system changes in 2100 under a 1.5°C global warming scenario and a reference scenario without updated emission reduction measures. The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) The method of integrating the GCAM and improved CLUMondo model demonstrates high validation accuracy in simulating China's land system changes, effectively predicting the changes.(2) Under the 1.5°C global warming scenario, the quality of ecosystems related to mountains, water, forests, farmland, lakes, and grasslands in China improved. The areas of shrubland, wetland, and forest are projected to increase by 185%, 79%, and 33%, respectively, with low-density shrubland, high-density wetland, and high-density forest showing the most significant increases.(3) Compared with the reference scenario, the 1.5°C climate pledges drive greater changes in future land systems, with wetland and forest area growth levels exceeding those of the reference scenario by 20% and 10%, respectively. Human primed pluripotent stem cells are capable of generating all the embryonic ***,their extraembryonic trophectoderm potentials are *** remains unclear how to expand their developmental potential to trophectoderm *** we show that transient treatment with a cocktail of small molecule epigenetic modulators imparts trophectoderm lineage potentials to human primed pluripotent stem cells while preserving their embryonic *** chemically treated cells can generate trophectoderm-like cells and downstream trophoblast stem cells,diverging into syncytiotrophoblast and extravillous trophoblast *** and CUT&Tag analyses reveal that these induced cells share transcriptional profiles with in vivo trophectoderm and cytotrophoblast,and exhibit reduced H3K27me3 modification at gene loci specific to trophoblast lineages compared with primed pluripotent *** exploration highlighted the critical roles of epigenetic modulators HDAC2,EZH1/2,and KDM5s in the activation of trophoblast lineage *** findings demonstrate that transient epigenetic resetting activates unrestricted lineage potential in human primed pluripotent stem cells,and offer new mechanistic insights into human trophoblast lineage specification and in vitro models for studying placental development and related disorders.

Decentralized Bilateral Risk-based Self-healing Strategy for Power Distribution Network with Potentials from Central Energy Stations

Owing to potential regulation capacities from flexible resources in energy coupling,storage,and consumption links,central energy stations(CESs)can provide additional support to power distribution network(PDN)in case of power ***,existing research has not explicitly revealed the emergency response of PDN with leveraging multiple *** paper proposes a decentralized self-healing strategy of PDN to minimize the entire load loss,in which multi-area CESs’potentials including thermal storage and building thermal inertia,as well as the flexible topology of PDN,are reasonably exploited for service *** sake of privacy preservation,the co-optimization of PDN and CESs is realized in a decentralized manner using adaptive alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM).Furtherly,bilateral risk management with conditional value-at-risk(CVaR)for PDN and risk constraints for CESs is integrated to deal with uncertainties from outage *** studies are conducted on a modified IEEE 33-bus PDN with multiple *** results illustrate that the proposed strategy can fully utilize the potentials of multi-area CESs for coordinated load *** effectiveness of the performance and behaviors’adaptation against random risks is also validated.

A self-adaptive inorganic in-situ separator by particle crosslinking for nonflammable lithium-ion batteries

All-safe liquid-state lithium-ion batteries(ASLS-LIBs) is of great interest as they can potentially combine the safety of all-solid-state batteries with the high performance and low manufacturing cost of traditional liquid-state LIBs. However, the practical success of ASLS-LIBs is bottlenecked by the lack of advanced separator technology that can simultaneously realize high performances in puncturing-tolerability,fire-resistance, and importantly, wetting-capability with non-flammable liquid-electrolytes. Here, we propose a concept of inorganic in-situ separator(IISS) by hybrid-sol physical crosslinking directly onto the electrode surface to address the above challenges. Particularly, the hybrid-sol is designed with silica nanoparticles as the building block and poly(vinylidene difluoride) nanoparticles as the crosslinking agent. The critical factors for controlling the IISS microstructures and properties have been systematically investigated. The advantages of the IISS have been confirmed by its fast wetting with various fireresistant liquid-electrolytes, customizable thickness and porous structures, robust interface with planar or three-dimensional(3D)-structured electrodes, and importantly, unexpected self-adaptability against puncturing. Enabled by the above merits, a fire-resistant ASLS-LIB is successfully assembled and demonstrated with stable electrochemical performance. This sol-crosslinked IISS may open an avenue for the studies on the next-generation separator technology, cell assembling, solid electrolyte processing as well as non-flammable secondary batteries.

Fingerprint Liveness Detection Based on Multi-Scale LPQ and PCA

Fingerprint authentication system is used to verify users' identification according to the characteristics of their ***,this system has some security and privacy *** example,some artificial fingerprints can trick the fingerprint authentication system and access information using real users' ***,a fingerprint liveness detection algorithm needs to be designed to prevent illegal users from accessing privacy *** this paper,a new software-based liveness detection approach using multi-scale local phase quantity(LPQ) and principal component analysis(PCA) is *** feature vectors of a fingerprint are constructed through multi-scale *** technology is also introduced to reduce the dimensionality of the feature vectors and gain more effective ***,a training model is gained using support vector machine classifier,and the liveness of a fingerprint is detected on the basis of the training *** results demonstrate that our proposed method can detect the liveness of users' fingerprints and achieve high recognition *** study also confirms that multi-resolution analysis is a useful method for texture feature extraction during fingerprint liveness detection.

Effects of Na_(2)CO_(3)on reduction mechanism and kinetics of iron during deep reduction of ilmenite concentrate

High-quality upgraded titanium slag obtained through semi-molten reduction with the addition of Na_(2)CO_(3)is important for the fluidizing chlorination process to produce TiO_(2)*** key is the effect of Na_(2)CO_(3)on the reduction behavior of ***,the effects of Na_(2)CO_(3)on reduction mechanism and kinetics of iron during deep reduction of ilmenite concentrate were *** results indicated that the metallization ratio of the reduced sample increased with increasing temperature,time,and dose of Na_(2)CO_(3).The addition of Na_(2)CO_(3)significantly accelerated the reduction of iron in the ilmenite concentrate and promoted the growth of iron ***,the addition of Na_(2)CO_(3)produced sodium iron titanates;thus,the metallization ratio of the sample decreased with an increase in the temperature and time when the temperature was above 1200℃and the time was more than 30 *** the doses of Na_(2)CO_(3)were 0,3,and 6 wt.%,the reduction of iron was controlled by the interfacial chemical reaction,both the interfacial chemical reaction and diffusion,and diffusion,respectively,and the apparent activation energies were 134.91,64.89,and 120.82 kJ/mol,respectively.

Temperature-dependent of Nonlinear Optical Conductance of Graphene-based Systems in High-intensity Terahertz Field

For multi-photon processed with the linear dispersion in the high-intensity terahertz(THz) field,we have systematically investigated the temperature-dependent nonlinear optical response of graphene-based systems, including single layer graphene, graphene superlattice and gapped graphene. In the intrinsic single layer graphene system, it demonstrates that, at low temperature, nonlinear optical conductivities of the thirdand fifth-order are respectively five and ten orders of magnitude larger than the universal conductivity with high-intensity and low frequency THz *** the graphene superlattice and gapped graphene systems, the optical responses enhanced because of the anisotropic massless and massive Dirac fermions.

Jupiter Made Abstract, and Then Refined

Collaborative text editing systems allow multiple users to concurrently edit the same document, which can be modeled by a replicated list object. In the literature, there is a family of operational transformation (OT)-based Jupiter protocols for replicated lists, including AJupiter, XJupiter, and CJupiter. They are hard to understand due to the subtle OT technique, and little work has been done on formal verification of complete Jupiter protocols. Worse still, they use quite different data structures. It is unclear about how they are related to each other, and it would be laborious to verify each Jupiter protocol separately. In this work, we make contributions towards a better understanding of Jupiter protocols and the relation among them. We first identify the key OT issue in Jupiter and present a generic solution. We summarize several techniques for carrying out the solution, including the data structures to maintain OT results and to guide OTs. Then, we propose an implementation-independent AbsJupiter protocol. Finally, we establish the (data) refinement relation among these Jupiter protocols (AbsJupiter included). We also formally specify and verify the family of Jupiter protocols and the refinement relation among them using TLA+ (TLA stands for"Temporal Logic of Actions") and the TLC model checker. To our knowledge, this is the first work to formally specify and verify a family of OT-based Jupiter protocols and the refinement relation among them. It would be helpful to promote a rigorous study of OT-based protocols.
