New insight into genes in association with asthma： literature-based mining and network centrality analysis

Background Asthma is a heterogeneous disease for which a strong genetic basis has been firmly established. Until now no studies have been undertaken to systemically explore the network of asthma-related genes using an internally developed literature-based discovery approach. This study was to explore asthma-related genes by using literature- based mining and network centrality analysis. Methods Literature involving asthma-related genes were searched in PubMed from 2001 to 2011. Integration of natural language processing with network centrality analysis was used to identify asthma susceptibility genes and their interaction network. Asthma susceptibility genes were classified into three functional groups by gene ontology （GO） analysis and the key genes were confirmed by establishing asthma-related networks and pathways. Results Three hundred and twenty-six genes related with asthma such as IGHE （IgE）, interleukin （IL）-4, 5, 6, 10, 13, 17A, and tumor necrosis factor （TNF）-alpha were identified. GO analysis indicated some biological processes （developmental processes, signal transduction, death, etc.）, cellular components （non-structural extracellular, plasma membrane and extracellular matrix）, and molecular functions （signal transduction activity） that were involved in asthma. Furthermore, 22 asthma-related pathways such as the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway, hematopoietic cell lineage, JAK-STAT signaling pathway, chemokine signaling pathway, and cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and 17 hub genes, such as JAK3, CCR1-3, CCR5-7, CCR8, were found. Conclusions Our study provides a remarkably detailed and comprehensive picture of asthma susceptibility genes and their interacting network. Further identification of these genes and molecular pathways may play a prominent role in establishing rational therapeutic approaches for asthma.

Effect of Initial Goss Texture Sharpness on Texture Evolution and Magnetic Properties of Ultra-thin Grain-oriented Electrical Steel

In this study, high- and low-grade grain-oriented electrical steels were used as the initial materials to produce 0.08-mm-thick sheet with one-step cold-rolling method. Electron backscattering diffraction analysis technique and X-ray diffraction texture analysis technique were adopted to investigate the effect of initial Goss texture sharpness on texture evolution and magnetic properties of ultra-thin grain-oriented electrical steel. The results showed that primary recrystal- lization and secondary recrystallization were the main processes that occurred during annealing. The induced factors for secondary recrystallization of two grades samples were not Consistent. The high-grade samples presented texture induction mechanism, while the low-grade samples revealed strong surface-energy induction mechanism. The initial Goss texture sharpness had a great impact on texture evolution and magnetic properties of ultra-thin grain-oriented electrical steel. The Goss texture component formed after primary recrystallization was stronger, and better magnetic properties were obtained at low frequencies. For low-grade samples, secondary recrystallization enhanced the intensity of Goss texture, and both grain size and texture contributed to better high-frequency magnetic properties after secondary recrystallization. By controlling the annealing process, the magnetic properties of low-grade products could be significantly improved, thus achieving conversion from low-grade to high-grade products.

Improvement of the treatment for Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)especially the development of in situ controllable drug release is still a major *** this study,we developed waterborne biodegradable polyurethane(WBPU)scaffolds incorporated with redox-sensitive and RGD-decorated paclitaxel(PTX)polymer-drug conjugates(PDCs)for targeted GBM therapy in *** drug scaffolds could be implanted at residual GBM site ***-targeting PTX-PDCs were obtained through step-by-step conjugation of disulfide linked PTX,poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG),and arginine-glycine-aspartic acid(RGD).The RGD-modified PTX-PDCs were spherical nanoparticles(NPs)that would be released from scaffolds and identified GBM cells *** redox-sensitive PTX-PDCs would be decomposed and release PTX inside GBM cells under the circumstances of glutathione(GSH).The release profiles of PTX from the scaffolds with/without GSH were *** vitro cytotoxicity assay revealed that the dual-targeting PTX-PDCs from scaffolds could specifically kill GBM cells and protect normal cells,suggesting that dual-targeting PTX-PDC-loaded scaffolds may have the potential to repair tumor-induced brain *** vivo anti-recurrence assay indicated that the PTX-PDC-scaffolds could deliver PTX-PDCs to the GBM cells followed by inhibiting tumor growth and inducing *** general,the PTX prodrug-loaded devices exhibited significant anti-GBM effects and normal tissue protection simultaneously,indicating that the WBPU scaffolds incorporated with dual-targeting PTX-PDCs may be a promising strategy for local therapy of GBM.

An integrated MINLP model for multi-party coordination in downstream oil supply chain

Cooperation among enterprises can bring overall and individual performance improvement, and a smooth coordination method is indispensable. However, due to the lack of customized coordination methods, cooperation in the downstream oil supply chain cannot be carried out smoothly. This paper intends to propose a multi-party coordination method to promote cooperation between oil shippers and pipeline operator by optimizing oil transportation, oil substitution and pipeline pricing schemes. An integrated game-theoretic modeling and analysis approach is developed to characterize the operation behaviors of all stakeholders in the downstream oil supply chain. The proposed mixed integer nonlinear programming model constrains supply and demand capacity, transportation routes, oil substitution rules and pipeline freight levels. Logarithm transformation and price discretization are introduced for model linear approximation. Simulation experiments are carried out in the oil distribution system in South China. The results show that compared to the business-as-usual scheme, the new scheme saves transportation cost by 3.48%, increases pipeline turnover by 5.7%, and reduces energy consumption and emissions by 7.66% and 6.77%. It is proved that the proposed method improves the revenue of the whole system, achieves fair revenue distribution, and also improves the energy and environmental benefits of the oil supply chain.

Based on the unified Hauser–Feshbach and exciton model,which can describe the particle emission processes between discrete energy levels with energy,angular momentum,and parity conservations,a statistical theory of light nucleus reaction(STLN)is developed to calculate the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing neutron and light charged particles for the proton-induced^(6) Li reaction.A significant difference is observed between the p+^(6) Li and p+^(7) Li reactions owing to the discrepancies in the energy-level structures of the *** reaction channels,including sequential and simultaneous emission processes,are analyzed in *** the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton as an example,the influence of contaminations(such as^(1) H,^(7)Li,^(12)C,and^(16)O)on the target is identified in terms of the kinetic energy of the first emitted *** optical potential parameters of the proton are obtained by fitting the elastic scattering differential *** calculated total double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton and deuteron at E_(p)=14 MeV agree well with the experimental data for different outgoing ***,the mixed double differential cross-sections of^(3) He andαare in good agreement with the *** agreement between the measured data and calculated results indicates that the two-body and three-body breakup reactions need to be considered,and the pre-equilibrium reaction mechanism dominates the reaction *** on the STLN model,a PLUNF code for the p+^(6) Li reaction is developed to obtain an ENDF-6-formatted file of the double-differential cross-sections of the nucleon and light composite charged particles.

Facile preparation of a SiC@SiO_(2)nanowire-toughened ZrB_(2)-SiC/SiC bilayer coating with good interfacial bonding,high toughness,and excellent cyclic ablation resistance on C/CA composites

Preparing antioxidant coatings to address the inherent oxidation sensitivity of carbon fiber-reinforced carbon aerogel(C/CA)composites is a feasible way to promote their application in oxidizing environments as thermal insulation ***,preparing the coatings with excellent oxidation and ablation resistance while avoiding evident damage to the C/CA substrate still remains a ***,a SiC@SiO_(2)nanowire-toughened ZrB2–SiC/SiC bilayer coating with a large thickness of 500μm was prepared on C/CA using a one-step low-temperature reaction sintering method,which simultaneously formed a sintered outer layer with even-distributed nanowires and a siliconized gradient inner *** courtesy of the synergic thermal response of the layers and the crack deflection induced by the nanowires,the resulting coating has moderate residual compressive stress of 0.08–1.22 GPa in the interface,high interfacial bonding strength of 6.02 MPa,and good fracture toughness of 4.36 MPa·m^(1/2).Benefited from the optimum components and improved structure,the coating shows excellent cyclic ablation resistance with linear ablation rates of 0.1μm/s at 1650℃for 1500 s(300 s×5 cycles)and 0.4μm/s at 1850℃for 900 s(300 s×3 cycles).The one-step preparation strategy contributes to little damage to the substrate,thus showing the well-preserved mechanical and thermal insulation properties.

Modified Triphenylmethane-based Polyimides with Improved Optical,Dielectric and Solubility Properties via Post-Polymerization Modification

A family of new triphenylmethane(TPM)-based polyimides(PIs)containing bulky tert-butyldimethylsiloxy(TBS)side-groups(PI-TPMOSis)has been prepared by a post-polymerization modification via a simple silyl ether reaction of TPM-based PIs containing hydroxyl(OH)groups(PI-TPMOHs).The attachment of TBS side-groups in PI-TPMOSis can be achieved up to 100%,as confirmed by the 1H-NMR and IR *** to the presence of the TPM structure,PI-TPMOSi films still display the excellent thermal stability with high glass transition temperature(Tg)of 314–351°C and high degradation temperature(Td5%)of 480–501°*** is quite remarkable that the introduction of TBS side-groups into PI-TPMOSi chains results in more superior optical,dielectric and solubility properties in comparison with the precursor PI-TPMOH films,probably due to the reductions of the packing density and charge-transfer complexes(CTCs)*** optical transmittance at 400 nm(T400)of PI-TPMOSi films is significantly increased from 45.3%–68.8%to 75.4%–81.6%of the precursor PI-TPMOH *** dielectric constant(Dk)and dissipation factor(Df)at 1 MHz of PI-TPMOSi films are reduced from 4.11–4.40 and 0.00159–0.00235 to 2.61–2.92 and 0.00125–0.00171 of the precursor PI-TPMOH films,*** the molecular design and simple preparation method,this study provides an effective approach for enhancement of various properties of PI films for microelectronic and photoelectric engineering applications.
