BACKGROUND Non-surgical methods such as percutaneous drainage are crucial for the treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).However,there is still an ongoing debate regarding the optimal timing for abdominal paracentesis catheter place-ment and drainage.AIM To explore the influence of different timing for abdominal paracentesis catheter placement and drainage in SAP complicated by intra-abdominal fluid accumu-lation.METHODS Using a retrospective approach,184 cases of SAP complicated by intra-abdominal fluid accumulation were enrolled and categorized into three groups based on the timing of catheter placement:group A(catheter placement within 2 d of symptom onset,n=89),group B(catheter placement between days 3 and 5 after symptom onset,n=55),and group C(catheter placement between days 6 and 7 after symptom onset,n=40).The differences in progression rate,mortality rate,and the number of cases with organ dysfunction were compared among the three groups.RESULTS The progression rate of group A was significantly lower than those in groups B and groups C(2.25%vs 21.82%and 32.50%,P0.05).At postoperative day 3,the levels of C-reactive protein(55.41±19.32 mg/L vs 82.25±20.41 mg/L and 88.65±19.14 mg/L,P<0.05),procalcitonin(1.36±0.51 ng/mL vs 3.20±0.97 ng/mL and 3.41±0.98 ng/mL,P<0.05),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(15.12±6.63 pg/L vs 22.26±9.96 pg/L and 23.39±9.12 pg/L,P<0.05),interleukin-6(332.14±90.16 ng/L vs 412.20±88.50 ng/L and 420.08±87.65ng/L,P<0.05),interleukin-8(415.54±68.43 ng/L vs 505.80±66.90 ng/L and 510.43±68.23ng/L,P<0.05)and serum amyloid A(270.06±78.49 mg/L vs 344.41±81.96 mg/L and 350.60±80.42 mg/L,P<0.05)were significantly lower in group A compared to those in groups B and group C.The length of hospital stay in group A was significantly lower than

Our previous study has revealed that procyanidin A_(1)(A_(1))and its simulated digestive product(D-A,)can alleviate acrylamide(ACR)-induced intestine cell damage.However,the underlying mechanism remains unknown.In this study,we elucidated the molecular mechanism for and D-A_(1) to alleviate ACR-stimulated IPEC-J2 cell damage.ACR slightly activated nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)signaling and its target genes,but this activation could not reduce intestine cell damage.A_(1) and D-A_(1) could alleviate ACR-induced cell damage,but the effect was abrogated in cells transiently transfected with Nrf2 small interfering RNA(siRNA).Further investigation confirmed that A_(1) and D-A_(1) interacted with Ketch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keapl),which boosted the stabilization of Nrf2,subsequently promoted the translocation of Nrf2 into the nucleus,and further increased the expression of antioxidant proteins,thereby inhibiting glutathione(GSH)consumption,maintaining redox balance and eventually alleviating ACR-induced cell damage.Importantly,there was no difference between A_(1) and D-A_(1) treated groups,indicating that A_(1) can tolerate gastrointestinal digestion and may be a potential compound to limit the toxicity of ACR.

An inexpensive phosphine catalyst was used effectively for a transition-metal-free acyl-transfer of N-containing heteroaryl ketones for the rapid synthesis of N-fused heterocycles.The key pre-aromatic spirocyclic intermediate initialized by the single electron transfer(SET)process of Togni's reagentⅡpromoted by the tertiary phosphine resulted in an intriguing and alternative tactic for the cleavage of C–C bonds.By using inexpensive tertiary phosphine as the catalyst,this skeleton-reorganizing approach of N-containing heteroaryl ketones allows a streamlined assembly of complex N-fused heterocycles with broad functional group tolerance.

In this paper, we characterize weighted composition operators that preserve frames on the weighted Hardy spaces in the unit disk. In particular, we obtain the symbol properties of the bounded invertible weighted composition operators. Moreover, we establish the equivalence between bounded invertible operators and frame-preserving operators. Furthermore, we show that weighted composition operator preserves frames if and only if it preserves the Riesz bases property. Additionally,we investigate the weighted composition operators that preserve tight or normalized tight frames on the Dirichlet space.

Controlled fabrication of materials by surface modification techniques has been a hot research topic. In this paper,one-dimensional(1D) core-shell structure Fe@Co nanowires(NWs) were successfully prepared by anchoring 0-dimensional(0D) Co nanoparticles on 1D Fe NWs based on the in situ reduction method. The electromagnetic parameters of the specimens at a filler mass fraction of 25 wt% were tested and the microwave loss mechanism was deeply analyzed. Binary magnetic metals in a core-shell structure have excellent multi-band microwave absorption capability(S-band, X-band and Ku-band). This is due to the heterogeneous interface and magnetic coupling effects tuning the dielectric and magnetic loss. This study offers a workable plan for creating effective multi-band magnetic metal-based microwave absorbers.

Colonic transendoscopic enteral tubing(TET)is an interventional intestine therapeutic procedure.The colonic TET technique represents a novel drug delivery route,interventional diagnosis and therapy,and paradigm for concept validation,showing broad prospects in research and practice.Since its first meeting at the China Gut Conference in 2023,our panel of experts has held a series of discussions on TET’s concept,breakthroughs,and future.We strive to lay the groundwork for further establishing the TET Study Group for designing multicenter studies and developing relevant consensus or guidelines.

Obesity is associated with numerous metabolic disorders,and dietary polyphenols have been confirmed to have beneficial effects on the metabolism in obesity.However,the effect of 3-(3’,4’-dihydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid(DHPA)and 3’,4’-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid(DHAA),two main metabolites of dietary polyphenols,on obesity remains poorly understood.In this study,DHPA and DHAA were found to alleviate obesity,as well as regulate insulin resistance,lipid metabolism,and oxidative stress response in high-fat diet(HFD)mice.Surprisingly,the 16S rRNA sequencing and UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS demonstrated that DHPA and DHAA only slightly disturbed the intestinal microbiome,but significantly altered the urine metabolome of HFD mice mainly by regulating pentose and glucuronate interconversion,tyrosine metabolism,pentose phosphate and tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle as indicated by metabolic pathway analysis based on Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)database.Correlation analysis revealed that the differential metabolites are strongly associated with body weight,blood glucose,insulin level,and superoxide dismutase(SOD)enzyme activity.Our results revealed that DHPA and DHAA exert their anti-obesity effect by regulating important metabolites in the glucose,lipid and tyrosine metabolism pathways.

BACKGROUND Aberrant methylation is common during the initiation and progression of colorectal cancer(CRC),and detecting these changes that occur during early adenoma(ADE)formation and CRC progression has clinical value.AIM To identify potential DNA methylation markers specific to ADE and CRC.METHODS Here,we performed SeqCap targeted bisulfite sequencing and RNA-seq analysis of colorectal ADE and CRC samples to profile the epigenomic-transcriptomic landscape.RESULTS Comparing 22 CRC and 25 ADE samples,global methylation was higher in the former,but both showed similar methylation patterns regarding differentially methylated gene positions,chromatin signatures,and repeated elements.High-grade CRC tended to exhibit elevated methylation levels in gene promoter regions compared to those in low-grade CRC.Combined with RNA-seq gene expression data,we identified 14 methylation-regulated differentially expressed genes,of which only AGTR1 and NECAB1 methylation had prognostic significance.CONCluSION Our results suggest that genome-wide alterations in DNA methylation occur during the early stages of CRC and demonstrate the methylation signatures associated with colorectal ADEs and CRC,suggesting prognostic biomarkers for CRC.
