Studies on the Root Characteristics of Maize Varieties of Different Eras

Experiment was conducted at the Gongzhuling Experimental Station of Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jilin Province, China, during 2009-2010. Six representative varieties of maize （Baihe in the 1950s, Jidan 101 in the 1960s, Zhongdan 2 in the 1970s, Yedan 13 in the 1980s, Zhengdan 958 in the 1990s, and Xianyu 335 in the 2000s） were each planted under two different densities （52 500 and 82 500 plants ha-~） and two different nitrogen application levels （150 and 300 kg ha-l）. Root characteristics and distribution among soil layers were studied by the field root digging method. The results showed that root mass increased with the process of the growth and development of the plant, and it peaked at kernel filling stage, and decreased at maturity due to the root senesces. Root mass of different maize varieties from the 1950s to 1980s had a trend of increase, while it decreased for the modern varieties. Root length and root surface areas had the similar changing trend. The study suggested that early maize varieties may have root redundancy, and reducing root redundancy may be a direction for variety improvement for high yield. Root characteristics were affected by nitrogen application level and density; modern varieties were more suitable for higher fertilizer application level and density conditions. Root characteristics distribution among soil layers decreased by an exponent equation, but the regression coefficients of different varieties were different. Though the root length density （RLD） of every soil layer of different varieties also decreased by an exponent equation, there were large variations of RLD in every part of a layer.

Fecal microbiota transplantation alleviates experimental colitis through the Toll-like receptor 4 signaling pathway

Effects and mechanism of adenovirus-mediated phosphatase and tension homologue deleted on chromosome ten gene on collagen deposition in rat liver fibrosis

AIM To evaluate the effects of phosphatase and tension homologue deleted on chromosome ten(PTEN) gene on collagen metabolism in hepatic fibrosis and the underlying *** rat primary hepatic stellate cells(HSCs) and human LX-2 cells were transfected with adenovirus containing c DNA constructs encoding wild-type PTEN(Ad-PTEN), PTEN mutant G129 E gene(Ad-G129E), and r NA interference constructs targeting the PTEN sequence PTEN short hairpin r NA to up-regulate and downregulate the expression of PTEN. HSCs were assayed using fluorescent microscopy, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and western blotting. Moreover, a CCl_4-induced rat hepatic fibrosis model was established to investigate the in vivo effects. Hematoxylin and eosin, and Masson's trichrome were used to assess the histological changes. The expression of collagen Ⅰ and Ⅲ was assessed using immunohistochemistry and western blot *** Elevated expression of PTEN gene reduced serum levels of alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase, decreased collagen deposition in the liver, and reduced hepatocyte necrosis. In contrast, knockdown of PTEN expression had an opposite effect, such as increased collagen deposition in the liver, and was molecularly characterized by the increased expression of matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-13(P < 0.01) and MMP-2(P < 0.01), as well as decreased expression of the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase(TIMP)-1(P < 0.01) and TIMP-2(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION These data indicated that gene therapy using recombinant adenovirus encoding PTEN might be a novel way of treating hepatic fibrosis.

将一种新的空间矢量调制方法应用于三相四桥臂逆变器,采用基于abc坐标系的空间矢量调制方法,避免了传统的αβγ坐标变换,使开关矢量的选取和占空比的计算更简单,显著降低了调制算法的复杂性。通过采样三相负载电流和直流母线电压来实时计算给定的参考电压,使得本逆变器可适应不同的负载。基于电压有效值调节稳定系统输出电压,本文详细说明了基于abc 坐标系的空间矢量脉宽调制算法和参考电压的获取方法。该逆变器直流电压利用率高,并能带任意线性、不对称的时变负载,仿真和实验结果证明了该方案的可行性。

Separation and analysis of aromatic hydrocarbons from two Chinese coals

Separation and analysis of aromatic hydrocarbons (AHs) from coals is of considerable significance for both fuel and non-fuel use of the coals. In present work two Chinese bituminous coals were selected for separation of AHs by ultrasonic extrac-tion with CS2 followed by column chromatography using hexane as eluent. A series of AHs were separated from the two coals and analyzed by GC/MS. FTIR was employed to characterize the raw coals and the extracted residues. The results of GC/MS analysis show that the separated AHs are mono- to tetracyclic arenes, among which the principle AHs are alkyl naphthalenes and phenan-threnes. Obvious differences in the composition and the structure of AHs exist between the two coals, i.e., the AHs from Tongting coal tend to be higher rings compared to those from Pingshuo coal both from the variety and from the abundance of the AHs. FTIR analysis shows that the raw and extracted coals are similar in terms of functional groups, suggesting that the composition and structure of CS2 extract, especially the AHs, from coals can be used to interpret the coal structure to some extent.
