BACKGROUND Gallbladder rupture is common in laparoscopic cholecystectomy because the gallbladder is usually in acute or chronic inflammation *** gallstones may sometime be spilled into the peritoneal cavity,resulting in intra-abdominal ab-scess if the gallstones were not *** diagnosis of intra-abdominal ab-scess caused by unretrieved gallstone can usually be correctly identified in the routine imaging studies,such as abdominal ultrasonography or computed tomo-graphy(CT).Here we present a case of abscess formation from unretrieved gall-stone following laparoscopic cholecystectomy,which mimics the imaging findings of metastatic gallbladder *** SUMMARY This case described a 78-year-old man who received laparoscopic cholecystectomy and gallbladder adenocarcinoma was diagnosed after *** adjuvant chemotherapy,the following up abdominal CT showed several small nodules at right upper abdomen and peritoneal carcinomatosis is *** laparoscopic surgery for the excision of seeding tumor was conducted and the pathological diagnosis of the nodules and mass was inflammatory tissues and gallbladder *** Spilled gallstones are a common complication during laparoscopic cholecystectomy and some gallstones fail to be retrieved due to the size or the restricted view of laparoscopic *** spilled gall bladder stones,surgeons may consider regular computerized tomography follow-up,and if necessary,laparoscopic examination can be used as a means of confirming the diagnostic and treatment.

High-performance Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO photoanode enabled by interfacial engineering with oxyanion for efficient photoelectrochemical water oxidation

In the present contribution,we demonstrate that the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)over the bismuth sulfide(Bi_(2)S_(3))photoanode,which severely restricts its photoelectrochemical activity,is markedly accelerated by employing a sulfatecontaining ***-principle calculation points to the spontaneous adsorption of sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−))on Bi_(2)S_(3)and its capacity of stabilizing the OER intermediates through hydrogen bonding,which is further reinforced by increasing the local density of states near the Fermi level of Bi_(2)S_(3).Meanwhile,the electron transfer is also promoted to synergistically render the ratedetermining step(from O*to OOH*)of OER over Bi_(2)S_(3)kinetically *** but not least,benefitting from such enhanced OER activity and efficient charge separation resulted from depositing Bi_(2)S_(3)on the zinc oxide nanorods(ZnO NRs),forming a core–shell heterojunction,its photocurrent density achieves 8.61 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 VRHE,far surpassing those reported for additional Bi_(2)S_(3)-based and several state-of-the-art photoanodes in the literature and further exceeding their theoretical *** great promise of the Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO NRs is in view of such outperformance,the superior Faradaic yield of oxygen of more than~80%and the outstanding half-cell applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of~1%well corroborated.

Regenerated polymer optical fiber Bragg gratings with thermal treatment for high temperature measurements

We report for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, regenerated polymer optical fiber Bragg gratings(RPOFBGs) in ZEONEX-based polymer optical fibers(POFs). The regeneration temperature can be adjusted using a heat treatment process on the POF before FBG inscription, enabling a scalable improvement of the thermal stability of the RPOFBGs. Thermal sustainability of the RPOFBGs at high temperature conditions was investigated for their prolonged use in diverse environments. Furthermore, these RPOFBGs can withstand strain levels up to 2.8% while maintaining a good linearity, even at temperature of 110℃. The RPOFBGs are capable of short-term operation at elevated temperatures of up to 132℃, which is the standard temperature for steam sterilization with at least a 4 min exposure period. The distinction in the morphologies of the two grades of ZEONEX(E48R and 480R, ZEON Corp.) used to fabricate the optical fiber together with the characteristics of UV irradiated and regenerated gratings is explained using micro-Raman spectroscopy. Collectively, these findings provide new heights for long-term operation of POF Bragg gratings(POFBGs) at elevated temperature environments and would be applicable to a wide range of disciplines.

Improvement of photovoltaic properties of benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]difuran-conjugated polymer by side-chain modification

The development of polymer solar cells(PSCs)for the donor materials based on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene(BDT)has significantly boosted the power conversion efficiency(PCE).However,the PCE of polymer donor materials for benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]difuran(BDF)-based lags far behind that of their BDT *** further explore efficient copolymers based on BDF units,a two-dimensional(2D)side-chain strategy was proposed to investigate the atom-changing effects on the copolymer donors for the properties of electron and *** this study,we designed and synthesized three new BDF-based copolymer donor materials,named PBDF-C,PBDF-O,and *** to the balanced charge transport and favorable phase separation of PBDF-S:Y6,a high PCE of 13.4%,a short-circuit current(J sc)of 25.48 mA cm−2,an open-circuit voltage(V oc)of 0.721 V,and a fill factor(FF)of 72.6%was *** research demonstrates that the BDF building block has great potential for constructing conjugated copolymer donors for high-performance PSCs and that 2D side-chain modification is a facile approach for designing high-performance BDF-based copolymer materials.

BACKGROUND Acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI)is used to measure liver fibrosis and predict *** performance of elastography in assessment of fibrosis is poorer in hepatitis B virus(HBV)than in other etiologies of chronic liver *** To evaluate the performance of ARFI in long-term outcome prediction among different etiologies of chronic liver *** Consecutive patients who received an ARFI study between 2011 and 2018 were *** excluding dual infection,alcoholism,autoimmune hepatitis,and others with incomplete data,this retrospective cohort were divided into hepatitis B(HBV,n=1064),hepatitis C(HCV,n=507),and non-HBV,non-HCV(NBNC,n=391)*** indexed cases were linked to cancer registration(1987-2020)and national mortality *** differences in morbidity and mortality among the groups were *** At the enrollment,the HBV group showed more males(77.5%),a higher prevalence of prediagnosed hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and a lower prevalence of comorbidities than the other groups(P<0.001).The HCV group was older and had a lower platelet count and higher ARFI score than the other groups(P<0.001).The NBNC group showed a higher body mass index and platelet count,a higher prevalence of pre-diagnosed non-HCC cancers(P<0.001),especially breast cancer,and a lower prevalence of *** gender,ARFI score,and HBV were independent predictors of *** 5-year risk of HCC was 5.9%and 9.8%for those ARFI-graded with severe fibrosis and *** alone had an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)of 0.742 for prediction of HCC in 5 *** increased to 0.828 after adding etiology,gender,age,and platelet *** difference was found in mortality rate among the *** The HBV group showed a higher prevalence of HCC but lower comorbidity that made mortality similar among the *** patients with ARFI-graded severe fibrosis or cirrhosis should receive regular surveillance.

BACKGROUND Hepatic steatosis is a major cause of chronic liver ***-dimensional(2D)ultrasound is the most widely used non-invasive tool for screening and monitoring,but associated diagnoses are highly *** To develop a scalable deep learning(DL)algorithm for quantitative scoring of liver steatosis from 2D ultrasound *** Using multi-view ultrasound data from 3310 patients,19513 studies,and 228075 images from a retrospective cohort of patients received elastography,we trained a DL algorithm to diagnose steatosis stages(healthy,mild,moderate,or severe)from clinical ultrasound *** was validated on two multiscanner unblinded and blinded(initially to DL developer)histology-proven cohorts(147 and 112 patients)with histopathology fatty cell percentage diagnoses and a subset with FibroScan *** also quantified reliability across scanners and *** were evaluated using Bland-Altman and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)*** The DL algorithm demonstrated repeatable measurements with a moderate number of images(three for each viewpoint)and high agreement across three premium ultrasound *** diagnostic performance was observed across all viewpoints:Areas under the curve of the ROC to classify mild,moderate,and severe steatosis grades were 0.85,0.91,and 0.93,*** DL algorithm outperformed or performed at least comparably to FibroScan control attenuation parameter(CAP)with statistically significant improvements for all levels on the unblinded histology-proven cohort and for“=severe”steatosis on the blinded histology-proven *** The DL algorithm provides a reliable quantitative steatosis assessment across view and scanners on two multi-scanner *** performance was high with comparable or better performance than the CAP.

Stress Analysis of Printed Circuit Board with Different Thickness and Composite Materials Under Shock Loading

In this study,the deformation and stress distribution of printed circuit board(PCB)with different thickness and composite materials under a shock loading were analyzed by the finite element *** standard 8-layer PCB subjected to a shock loading 1500 g was evaluated ***,the finite element models of the PCB with different thickness by stacking various number of layers were *** addition to changing thickness,the core material of PCB was replaced from woven E-glass/epoxy to woven carbon fiber/epoxy for structural *** non-linear material property of copper foil was considered in the *** results indicated that a thicker PCB has lower stress in the copper foil in PCBs under the shock *** stress difference between the thicker PCB(2.6 mm)and thinner PCB(0.6 mm)is around 5%.Using woven carbon fiber/epoxy as core material could lower the stress of copper foil around 6.6%under the shock loading 1500 g for the PCB with 0.6 mm *** the other hand,the stress level is under the failure strength of PCBs with carbon fiber/epoxy core layers and thickness 2.6 mm when the peak acceleration changes from 1500 g to 5000 *** study could provide a reference for the design and proper applications of the PCB with different thickness and composite materials.

Bank Lending and Economic Growth of Chinese Cities

Using a city-level dataset over the period 2004-2006, the present study investigates the relationship between bank lending and the economic growth of Chinese cities. Unlike past studies, we divide bank lending into loans from three types of banks： foreign banks, city banks and other banks. Our findings are threefold. First, the lending of foreign banks exhibits a strong and positive association with the economic growth of Chinese cities. Second, foreign direct investment in the sampled cities enhances the lending effects of foreign banks, but reduces the lending effects of other banks on the economy of Chinese cities. Third, the effects of city competitiveness are similar to those offoreign direct investment; that is, city competitiveness augments the lending effects of foreign banks but reduces the lending effects of other banks.

Passive harmonic mode locking of gain-guided solitons in erbium-doped fiber lasers

We report the experimental observation of passive harmonic mode locking of gain-guided solitons in erbium-doped fiber lasers either made of purely normal dispersion fibers or operating in the net normal cavity dispersion regime. Harmonic-2 and harmonic-3 mode locking states of the gain-guided solitons with supermode suppression larger than 35 dB have been obtained.
