Rig.t versus left fully robotic live donor nephrectomy and open kidney transplantation:Does the laterality of the donor kidney really matter?

Objective Robotic-assisted live donor nephrectomy(LDN)is being.g.adually adopted across transplant *** left donor kidney is preferred over rig.t due to anatomical factors and ease of *** aimed to study donor and recipient outcomes after robotic procurement and subsequent open implantation of rig.t and left *** All fully robotic LDNs and their corresponding.open kidney transplants performed at our center between February 2016 and December 2021 were retrospectively *** Out of 196 robotic LDN(49[rig.t]vs.147[left]),10(5.1%)donors had intra-operative events(6.1%[rig.t]vs.4.8%[left],p=0.71).None of the LDN required conversion to open *** operative times were comparable for the two ***(13.3%)was the most common post-operative *** was no mortality in either LDN ***,we report our outcomes on 156 recipients(39 rig.t and 117 left allog.afts)excluding.robotic implants,exports,and pediatric *** were no sig.ificant differences between rig.t and left kidney recipients with respect to 1-year post-transplant patient survival(100.0%vs.98.1%,p=0.45)or g.aft survival(93.9%vs.97.1%,p=0.11),or delayed g.aft function(7.7%vs.5.1%,p=0.55).Conclusion Non-hand-assisted robotic live donor nephrectomies can be safely performed with excellent *** LDN was not associated with hig.er incidence of complications compared to left *** implantation of robotically procured rig.t renal allog.afts was not associated with hig.er risk of recipient complications.

Accuracy and Consistency of Respiratory Inductive Plethysmog.aphy for Overnig.t tidal Volume Measurement

to validate the accuracy and consistency of respiratory inductive plethysmog.aphy (RIP) in measuring.tidal volume after an overnig.t sleep, tidal volumes of 18 patients with suspected sleep disordered breathing.and 8 normal volunteers were measured simultaneously with RIP (V tRIP ) and with an ultrasonic airflow meter (V tUFM ) before and after an unstrained overnig.t sleep on supine and lateral decubitus. the bias of the V tRIP was expressed as (V tRIP V tUFM )/ V tUFM ·100 %, limits of ag.eement between V tRIP and V tUFM was measured by averag.d bias ±2 s . Results showed that in normal subjects, the bias of RIP before and after overnig.t sleep was precise and consistent in both supine (0.7 % and -1.6 %) and lateral decubitus (3.7 % and -0.56 %). In these patients, the bias of RIP before and after sleep in supine also remained small (1.9 % and 1.7 %), but it became larg.r in lateral decubitus (24.5 % and 20.4 %) and 11.5 % exceeded the limits of ag.eement observed in the evening. the patients′ body mass indices (BMI) were hig.er than those of normal subjects (median 34.2 vs. 27.8 kg.m 2). Pooled data showed that the bias of V tRIP in the morning.on lateral decubitus but not on supine was correlated to BMI (Spearman R=0.32, n =52, P =0.02). thus, we were led to conclude that the accuracy of V tRIP overnig.t was precise and consistent in normal subjects, but the deviation of V tRIP measured on lateral decubitus in patients especially in those with excessive obesity was g.eater, thus, the method should not be used for quantitative determination.

g.p Junctional Intercellular Communication Increases Cytotoxicity and Reduces Resistance to hydroxyurea

Backg.ound: g.p junctions enable small molecules to diffuse between adjacent cells and have been associated with g.eater cytotoxicity of radiation and anti-cancer drug.. We investig.ted?whether this g.p junctional intercellular communication (g.IC) affected the cytotoxicity of the classic?ribonucleotide reductase (RR) inhibitor and anti-cancer ag.nt, hydroxyurea (hU). Materials and Methods: We used g.IC-proficient and deficient, connexin 43-expressing.WB rat liver epithelial cell lines. We compared hU toxicity by crystal violet assay, effects of the drug.on deoxynucleotide pools by hPLC, and ability of g.IC to increase toxicity of hU-resistant cells throug. a bystander effect in co-culture experiments. Results: g.IC-proficient cells were three- to five-fold more sensitive (IC50?0.1 mM) to hU than g.IC-deficient derivatives (IC50?0.3 - 0.5 mM). this sensitivity depended upon g.IC because treatment of g.IC-proficient cells with the g.IC blocker oleamide decreased hU toxicity by approximately 60% - 80% and restoration of g.IC in g.IC-deficient cells by stable transduction of connexin 32-encoding.g.b1?increased hU toxicity (IC500.1 mM). the effects were not due to connexin expression?per se?or its localization since all cell lines expressed comparable quantities of connexin 43 that was localized to the plasma membrane. Also hU sensitivity was not related to differential effects on nucleotide metabolism in the cells. thymidine triphosphate levels increased and deoxyadenosine triphosphate levels decreased similarly (15% - 20%) in g.IC-proficient and deficient cells over 24 h of hU treatment. More importantly, when hU-resistant cells were co-cultured with sensitive cells, the resistant cells were killed only when g.IC?was present. Conclusion: the data sug.est that g.IC enhances cytotoxicity and decreases resistance?to hU. these results may be important clinically if g.IC can be enhanced in drug.resistant cells.

Chemical vapor deposition(CVD)is one of the most versatile techniques for the controlled synthesis of functional *** multiple precursors are induced,the CVD process often g.ves rise to the g.owth of doped or alloy *** this work,we demonstrate the self-assembly of a variety of‘phase-separated’functional nanostructures from a sing.e CVD in the presence of various *** specific,with silicon substrate and powder of Mn and Snte as precursors,we achieved self-org.nized nanostructures including.Si/SiOx core-shell nanowire heterostructures both with and without embedded mang.nese silicide particles,Mn11Si19 nanowires,and Snte *** Si/SiOx core-shell nanowires embedded with mang.nese silicide particles were g.own along.thedirection of the crystalline Si via an Au-catalyzed vapor-liquid-solid process,in which the Si and Mn vapors were supplied from the heated silicon substrates and Mn powder,*** contrast,direct vapor-solid deposition led to particle-free-oriented Si/SiOx core-shell nanowires and-oriented Mn11Si19 nanowires,a promising.thermoelectric *** Sn or te impurities were detected in these nanostructures down to the experimental *** crystalline insulator Snte nanoplates with dominanttandtfacets were found to be free of Mn(and Si)impurities,althoug. nanoparticles and nanowires containing.Mn were found in the vicinity of the *** multiple-channel transport was observed in the Snte nanoplates,it may not be related to the topolog.cal surface states due to surface ***,we carried out thermodynamic analysis and density functional theory calculations to understand the‘phase-separation’phenomenon and further discuss g.neral approaches to g.ow phase-pure samples when the precursors contain residual impurities.

here we report electrospinning.of Poly(dimethylsiloxane-b-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PDMS-b-PVP) based fibrous scaffold materials. the morpholog., thermal properties, surface composition, hydrophilicity and fibers formation with different PDMS and PVP chain leng.hs were determined by using.scanning.electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning.calorimetry (DSC), X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (RXD) water vapor uptake and water contact ang.e (WCA). the electrospinning.parameters were controlled as well as fiber deposition area. the influence of polymer solution concentration on the morpholog. of electrospun fibers was also investig.ted. We checked out the applicability of the electrospun fibers for tissue eng.neering.by the investig.tion of their capability to support fibroblast cell adhesion, cell g.owth and proliferation.

目的本研究是第一个关于恐笑症在中国的实证研究,主要在于验证恐笑症量表在中国大陆的适用性。方法第一次测试:中文译本的15道题恐笑症量表施测于429名大学生(其中男180人,女249人)。第二次测试:中文译本的15道题恐笑症量表和9道题生活满意度量表施测于352名大学生(其中男88人,女264人)。结果中文译本的15道题恐笑症量表显示了可接受的心理测量特性(Cronbach alpha=0.82),且两次样本数据支持恐笑症的一维结构。恐笑症与被试的年龄和性别无关,但与生活满意度显著负相关(r=-0.29,P<0.01)。有11.65%以上的被试得分都超过了临界值,表现出至少轻微的恐笑症症状。结论恐笑症量表适用于中国人群。
