Projected changes in mean and interannual variability of surface water over continental China

Five General Circulation Model(GCM) climate projections under the RCP8.5 emission scenario were used to drive the Variable Infiltration Capacity(VIC) hydrologic model to investigate the impacts of climate change on hydrologic cycle over continental China in the 21 st century. The bias-corrected climatic variables were generated for the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC AR5) by the Inter-sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project(IsIMIP). Results showed much larger fractional changes of annual mean Evapotranspiration(ET) per unit warming than the corresponding fractional changes of Precipitation(P) per unit warming across the country, especially for south China, which led to a notable decrease of surface water variability(P-E). specifically, negative trends for annual mean runoff up to -0.33%/ year and soil moisture trends varying between -0.02% to -0.13%/year were found for most river basins across China. Coincidentally, interannual variability for both runoff and soil moisture exhibited significant positive trends for almost all river basins across China, implying an increase in extremes relative to the mean conditions. Noticeably, the largest positive trends for runoff variability and soil moisture variability, which were up to 0.41%/year and 0.90%/year, both occurred in southwest China. In addition to the regional contrast, intra-seasonal variation was also large for the runoff mean and runoff variability changes, but small for the soil moisture mean and variability changes. Our results suggest that future climate change could further exacerbate existing water-related risks(e.g., floods and droughts) across China as indicated by the marked decrease of surface water amounts combined with a steady increase of interannual variability throughout the 21 st century. Automated speech Emotion Recognition (sER) becomes more popular and has increased *** concentrates on the automatic identification of the emotional state of a humanbeing using speech signals. It mainly depends upon the in-depth analysis of the speech signal,extracts features containing emotional details from the speech signal, and utilises patternrecognition techniques for emotional state identification. The major problem in automatic sERis to extract discriminate, powerful, and emotional salient features from the acoustical content ofspeech signals. The proposed model aims to detect and classify three emotional states of speechsuch as happy, neutral, and sad. The presented model makes use of Convolution neural network– Gated Recurrent unit (CNN-GRU) based feature extraction technique which derives a set offeature vectors. A comprehensive simulation takes place using the Berlin German Database andsJTU Chinese Database which comprises numerous audio files under a collection of differentemotion labels.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease(KFD), also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is an uncommon condition, typically characterized by lymphadenopathy and fevers. It usually has a benign course; however, it may progress to fatality in extremely rare occasions. The diagnosis is made via lymph node biopsy and histopathology. Our patient was a young female who presented with shortness of breath, fever, and malaise. Physical examination revealed significant cervical and axillary lymphadenopathy. Chest X-ray displayed multilobar pneumonia. she required intubation and mechanical ventilation for progressive respiratory distress. Histopathology of lymph nodes demonstrated variable involvement of patchy areas of necrosis within the paracortex composed of karyorrhectic debris with abundant histiocytes consistent with KFD. After initial stabilization, the patient's condition quickly deteriorated with acute anemia, thrombocytopenia and elevated prothrombin time, partial prothrombin time, and D-dimer levels. Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy(DIC) ensued resulting in the patient's fatality. DIC in KFD is not well understood, but it is an important cause of mortality in patients with aggressive disease.

The quantitative resistance gene pi21 from sensho was introgressed to an indica breeding line IR63307-4B-13-2,a pyramiding line IRBB4/5/13/21,and a tropical japonica line Kinandang Patong by marker-assisted backcrossing.A total of 192 improved lines at the BC4F3 and BC4F4 generations were developed and confirmed to have the gene introgression via genotyping using a pi21-specific InDel *** randomly selected improved lines,representing all the three genetic backgrounds,demonstrated resistance against leaf blast composites in the field and a broader spectrum resistance against individual isolates compared to the recurrent parents in the ***,the tested lines exhibited pi21-acquired resistance against 11 leaf blast isolates that elicited susceptible reactions from the recurrent *** the tested lines maintained a comparative heading date,and similar or improved panicle length,number of primary branches per panicle and number of total grains per panicle relative to the recurrent *** physical grain characteristics of the recurrent parents were also maintained in the 13 lines tested,although variability in the amylose content and chalkiness degree was *** successful marker-assisted introgression of pi21 in diverse genetic backgrounds and the resulting broader spectrum resistance of improved lines against leaf blast indicate the potential of pi21 for deployment in cultivars grown across other rice growing regions in Asia.

Vineyard management practices to enhance soil conservation principally focus on increasing carbon(C)input,whereas mitigating impacts of disturbance through reduced tillage has been rarely ***,information is lacking on the effects of soil management practices adopted in the under-vine zone on soil *** this work,we evaluated the long-term effects(22 years)of alley with a sown cover crop and no-tillage(s+NT),alley with a sown cover crop and tillage(s+T),and under-vine zone with no vegetation and tillage(UV)on soil organic matter(sOM),microbial activity,aggregate stability,and their mutual interactions in a California vineyard in *** biomass,microbial biomass and activity,organic C and nitrogen(N)pools,and sOM size fractionation and aggregate stability were *** characteristics only partially reflected the differences in vegetation biomass *** C and N pools and microbial biomass/activity in s+NT were higher than those in s+T,while the values in UV were intermediate between the other two ***,s+NT also exhibited higher particulate organic matter C in *** differences were found in POM C between s+T and UV,but the POM fraction in s+T was characterized by fresher *** stability was decreased in the order:s+NT>UV>s+***,even if shallow and performed infrequently,had a negative effect on organic C and N pools and aggregate ***,the combination of a sown cover crop and reduced tillage still limited sOM accumulation and reduced aggregate stability in the surface soil layer of vineyards,suggesting relatively lower resistance of soils to erosion compared to no-till systems.

Extracellular sulfatase-2(sulf-2)influences receptor-ligand binding and subsequent signaling by chemokines and growth factors,yet sulf-2 remains unexplored in inflammatory cytokine signaling in the context of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).In the present study,we characterized sulf-2 expression in RA and investigated its potential role in TNF-α-induced synovial inflammation using primary human RA synovial fibroblasts(RAsFs).sulf-2 expression was significantly higher in serum and synovial tissues from patients with RA and in synovium and serum from hTNFtg *** sequencing analysis of TNF-α-stimulated RAsFs showed that sulf-2 siRNA modulated~2500 genes compared to scrambled *** Pathway Analysis of RNA sequencing data identified sulf-2 as a primary target in fibroblasts and macrophages in *** blot,ELIsA,and qRT‒PCR analyses confirmed that sulf-2 knockdown reduced the TNF-α-induced expression of ICAM1,VCAM1,CAD11,PDPN,CCL5,CX3CL1,CXCL10,and *** studies identified the protein kinase C-delta(PKCδ)and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)pathways as key in the TNF-α-mediated induction of proteins related to cellular adhesion and *** of sulf-2 abrogated TNF-α-induced RAsF ***-2 knockdown with siRNA and inhibition by OKN-007 suppressed the TNF-α-induced phosphorylation of PKCδand JNK,thereby suppressing the nuclear translocation and DNA binding activity of the transcription factors AP-1 and NF-κBp65 in human ***,sulf-2 expression positively correlated with the expression of TNF receptor 1,and coimmunoprecipitation assays demonstrated the binding of these two proteins,suggesting they exhibit crosstalk in TNF-α*** study identified a novel role of sulf-2 in TNF-αsignaling and the activation of RA synoviocytes,providing the rationale for evaluating the therapeutic targeting of sulf-2 in preclinical models of RA.
