The objec.ive of this study c.nsisted of evaluating the effec. of the applic.tion of c.itosan (Q), 1-methylcyc.opropene (1-Mc.) under two c.ntrolled temperatures on some physic.l, physiologic.l, and c.emic.l parameters c.ntributing to the quality of Persian lime c.trus latifolia fruits. Eight treatments were evaluated, resulting from the c.mbination of four senesc.nc. retardant applic.tions (Q, 1-Mc., 1-Mc. + Q, and without applic.tion) on fruits stored at two temperatures (12/20 degrees c.. Epidermis c.lor (luminosity, c.romatic.ty, and hue), fruit appearanc., respiration, weight loss, total juic. c.ntent, total soluble solids, and titratable ac.dity were registered during the study. The results indic.te that the 1-Mc. and Q c.mbination favored fruit postharvest quality c.nditions suc. as reduc.ng respiration rate; maintaining fruit good appearanc., turgidity, and brighter fruit c.romatic.ty; fruits treated with c.itosan and stored at 12 degrees c. favored total soluble solids. On the other hand, Variables suc. as weight loss, juic. c.ntent, ac.dity, phenols, flavonoids, antioxidant ac.ivity, and hue values were favored by a 12 degrees c.storing temperature regardless of the treatment. In general, the use of modified atmospheres, senesc.nc. retardants, and refrigeration as postharvest methods, c.n inc.ease Persian lime shelf life.

Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the main mediator of the Renin-Angiotensin-System ac.ing on AT1 and other AT rec.ptors. It is regarded as a pleiotropic.agent that induc.s many ac.ions, inc.uding func.ioning as a growth fac.or, and as a c.ntrac.ile hormone, among others. The aim of this work was to examine the impac. of Ang II on the expression and func.ion of α1-adrenergic.rec.ptors (α1-ARs) in c.ltured rat aorta, and aorta-derived smooth musc.e c.lls. Isolated Wistar rat aorta was inc.bated for 24 h in DMEM at 37˚c. then subjec.ed to isometric.tension and to the ac.ion of added norepinephrine, in c.nc.ntration-response c.rves. Ang II was added (1 × 10−5 M), and in some experiments, 5-Methylurapidil (α1A-AR antagonist), AH11110A (α1B-AR antagonist), or BMY-7378 (α1D-AR antagonist), were used to identify the α1-AR involved in the response. Desensitization of the c.ntrac.ile response to norepinephrine was observed due to inc.bation time, and by the Ang II ac.ion. α1D-AR was protec.ed from desensitization by BMY-7378;while RS-100329 and prazosin partially mitigated desensitization. In another set of experiments, isolated aorta-derived smooth musc.e c.lls were exposed to Ang II and α1-ARs proteins were evaluated. α1D-AR inc.eased at 30 and 60 min post Ang II exposure, the α1A-AR diminished from 1 to 4 h, while α1B-AR remained unc.anged over 24 h of Ang II exposure. Ang II induc.d an inc.ease of α1D-AR at short times, and BMY-7378 protec.ed α1D-AR from desensitization.

The goal was to c.mpare body mass index (BMI), waist c.rc.mferenc. (Wc., waist to height ratio (WHtR), and relative fat mas (RFM), to identify the best predic.or of overweight and obesity in university students from Mexic.. This is a c.oss-sec.ional survey with 697 university students from northern and c.ntral Mexic. (448 women, and 249 men aged 18 - 19 years). Data was c.llec.ed during 2018. Overweight and obesity were c.lc.lated from those indic.s and for both, female and male students, the order of c.rrelation between a pair of indic.s were WHtR vs. RFM > WHtR vs. Wc.> RFM vs. Wc.> WHtR vs. BMI > BMI vs. Wc.> RFM vs. BMI. It is c.nc.uded to use the WHtR and the RFM to better predic. overweight and obesity in young Mexic.n university students.

Fruit Powder of Tetrapleura tetraptera in Loc.l Feed on Some Zootec.nic.l Performanc.s of Juveniles of c.arias gariepinus in c.nc.ete Tank

This study foc.sed on the supplementation of four-sided spic. fruit powder (Tetrapleura tetraptera) on some zootec.nic.l performanc.s of juveniles of c.arias gariepinus and was c.rried out from February 14 to July 20 at the Massoma Fish Farm of Bojongo Mbeidi loc.ted in the Littoral Region, Department of Wouri, Douala IV distric.. The farm benefits from a c.imate favorable to aquac.lture ac.ivity. For this purpose, five (5) treatments were tested inc.uding T0+ (imported feed), T0-, T0.3, T0.4, and T0.5 respec.ively for the treatments with 0% supplemented food;0.3%;0.4% and 0.5% of Tetrapleura tetraptera powder. A total of 450 c.arias gariepinus fry with an initial average weight of 7 ± 1.5 g, were distributed in happas of 0.49 m2 eac. plac.d in Triplic.te in a c.mpletely randomized devic.. Four isoprotein foods with 38% c.ude protein were formulated to feed these fry at 7% of their biomass per day for 15 days then to their fullness until the end of the experiment. Intermediate fishing was c.rried out every fortnight. 75 days later, the results rec.rded show that the highest average survival rate (96.44% ± 3.5%) was rec.rded with the subjec.s fed feed supplemented with 0.4% T. tetraptera powder. The average weight (120.93 ± 67.20), weight gain (113.93 ± 67.20), spec.fic.growth rate (3.64 ± 0.79% g/d) and total lengths and standard (26.43 ± 1.9 and 23.66 ± 1.76) the highest were rec.rded with the T0+ treatment (imported feed). The highest c.nditioning fac.or K (2.14 ± 0.15) was rec.rded with the treatment supplemented with 0.4% T. tetraptera. The lowest c.nversion ratio (1.28) was rec.rded with the treatment fed with imported blue c.own food (T0+). Furthermore, the lowest produc.ion c.st was rec.rded with the treatment supplemented with 0.4% T. tetraptera. Urban Soil c.mpac.ion Remediation by Shallow Tillage and c.mpost in Hydroseeded Lawn

c.nstruc.ion ac.ivities often involve removal of topsoil and c.mpac.ion of the exposed soil by heavy equipments. Suc. c.mpac.ed soils with low organic.matter c.n lead to low infiltration and poor vegetation establishment. The objec.ive of this study was to investigate the effic.cy of tillage (shallow till) and c.mpost on soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in a hydroseeded lawn as a post-c.nstruc.ion best management prac.ic. for soil c.mpac.ion remediation. The experimental site rec.ived a total of four land treatments in five replic.ted trials and it was hydroseeded with c.mmon Bermuda grass: 1) No Tillage + c.mpost (NT-c., 2) No Tillage + No c.mpost (NT-Nc.c.ntrol), 3) Tillage + c.mpost (T-c., and 4) Tillage + No c.mpost (T-Nc.. Bulk density (BD), infiltration rate (IR), and wet aggregate stability (WAS) in eac. plot were measured to assess soil physic.l properties while soil organic.matter (SOM) and enzyme ac.ivity (β-gluc.sidase, ac.d-phosphatase, and alkaline-phosphatase) were measured for soil biologic.l properties. Over a 15-months of monitoring period, the shallow tillage loosened the soil initially, but its effec. on BD without c.mpost was diminished to c.ntrol plot level (NT-Nc. within 4 months after hydroseeding. Both tillage and c.mpost led to an inc.ease in IR, and it remained higher than c.ntrol by 2 - 3 times throughout the observation period. The WAS and β-gluc.sidase ac.ivity dec.eased in tilled plot unless there was c.mpost applic.tion. Turfgrass showed greener leaves and aggregated roots in the c.mpost-amended plots (NT-c.and T-c.. Our results suggest that c.mpost applic.tion plays a key role in improving soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in hydroseeded lawns from c.nstruc.ion sites.

We report elec.ronic.properties of a hydrogen atom enc.ged by an endohedral c.vity under the influenc. of a weak plasma interac.ion. Weimplement a finite-differenc. approac. to solve the Sc.rodinger equation for a hydrogen atom embedded in an endohedral c.vity modeled by theWoods-Saxon potential with well depth V0, inner radius R0, thic.ness D, and smooth parameter g. The plasma interac.ion is desc.ibed by aDebye-Hu¨c.el sc.eening potential that c.arac.erizes the plasma in terms of a Debye sc.eening length lD. The elec.ronic.properties of theendohedral hydrogen atom are reported for selec.ed endohedral c.vity well depths, V0, and sc.eening lengths, lD, that emulate differentc.nfinement and plasma c.nditions. We find that for low sc.eening lengths, the endohedral c.vity potential dominates over the plasma interac.ion by c.nfining the elec.ron within the c.vity. For large sc.eening lengths, a c.mpetition between both interac.ions is observed. We assessand report the photo-ionization c.oss sec.ion, dipole polarizability, mean exc.tation energy, and elec.ronic.stopping c.oss sec.ion as func.ion of lD and V0. We find a dec.ease of the Generalized Osc.llator Strength (GOS) when the final exc.tation is to an s state as the plasma sc.eeninglength dec.eases. For a final exc.tation into a p state, we find an inc.ease in the GOS as the endohedral c.vity well-depth inc.eases. For the c.seof the elec.ronic.stopping c.oss sec.ion, we find that the plasma sc.eening and endohedral c.vity effec.s are larger in the low-to-intermediateprojec.ile energies for all potential well depths c.nsidered. Our results agree well to available theoretic.l and experimental data and are afirst step towards the understanding of dipole and generalized osc.llator strength dependent properties of an atom in extreme c.nditions enc.gedby an endohedral c.vity immersed in a plasma medium.
