The Benef.ts and Barriers Related to Regular Participation in Physical Activity by Af.ican-American Women: Implications f.r Intervention Development

A common strategy f.r improving health behaviors is to emphasize the benef.ts and reduce the barriers to behavior change. This study investigated potential dif.erences in perceived benef.ts and barriers related to participation in physical activity (PA) between women in pre-maintenance versus the maintenance phase of.PA behavior to determine if.perceived benef.ts were greater and perceived barriers lower in women with more extensive and successf.l PA participation experience. Data were collected f.om a community-based sample (N = 113) of.middle-aged Af.ican-American women. The sample was stratif.ed into two groups according to how long they had been regularly engaging in PA (6 months or longer versus less than 6 months). Chi-square analyses were conducted to investigate possible dif.erences between the two groups of.women in regard to perceived benef.ts and barriers associated with PA. Descriptive data showed that nearly all of.the benef.ts and barriers to PA were perceived as being important f.r a majority of.the participants and chi-square and t-test results indicated f.w signif.cant between-group dif.erences (p f.cant between-group dif.erence (p f.r Body Mass Index. The results suggest the benef.ts and barriers related to PA behavior are already valued and understood by many Af.ican-American women. f.rther, the results do not support the commonly held belief.that ef.ective health behavior improvement programming should emphasize the benef.ts and reduce the barriers related to the behavior. Practitioners should consider f.cusing on other evidenced based f.ctors proven to promote PA behavior such as counseling regarding social support (e.g., buddy system) and increasing self.ef.icacy (e.g., goal setting) to initiate and sustain a physically active lif.style.

Youth gender dif.erences in alcohol use: A prospective study of.multiple youth assets and the neighborhood environment

Research has identif.ed f.ctors (assets) that protect youth f.om engaging in risk behaviors including alcohol use. Very little research has examined asset/nonuse of.alcohol associations by youth gender or determined if.asset/nonuse of.alcohol associations are inf.uenced by the neighborhood environment. The purpose of.the study was to determine if.multiple youth assets and neighborhood f.ctors are dif.erentially associated with youth nonuse of.alcohol by gender. Method: f.ve waves of.data were collected annually f.om households (N = 1111) randomly selected to participate in the Youth Asset Study. Seventeen assets and 6 neighborhood f.ctors assessed at waves 1 - 4 were analyzed longitudinally using marginal logistic regression to predict nonuse of.alcohol at waves 2 - 5. Results: Sample mean age was 14.3 years, 52% f.male;39% white, 28% Hispanic, 23% Af.ican-American, and 9% other. Numerous assets were prospec- tively associated with alcohol nonuse f.r f.males (12 assets) and males (16 assets). Three assets were signif.cantly more protective f.om alcohol use f.r males compared to f.males. f.nal modeling indicated that three assets were protective f.om alcohol use f.r both genders and that one asset was protective only f.r males. There were no signif.cant associations between the neighborhood variables and nonuse of.alcohol, and the neighborhood variables did not inf.uence the asset/nonuse of.alcohol associations. Conclusions: Youth assets appear to protect both genders f.om f.ture alcohol use but males may benef.t even more f.om asset-building prevention programming. Youth alcohol use and alcohol nonuse/asset associations may not be inf.uenced by the neighborhood environment.

Distinguishing high-grade maf.c-ultramaf.c rocks originally crystallized f.om within-plate basaltic magmatism is challenging and crucial because the chemical composition of.the igneous rocks has been modif.ed during high-grade metamorphism,causing misidentif.cation of.the characters of.the parental *** metamorphosed maf.c dykes occur throughout the Chhotanagpur Gneissic Complex(CGC)of.eastern Indian *** E-W trending maf.c dykes f.om the Saltora area in the southeastern CGC underwent metamorphism in two episodes:M1(650 MPa;770℃)and M2(300 MPa;744℃).The metamaf.cs are enriched in LILE,depleted in Hf.E,and display strong f.actionation of.LREE,nearly f.at HREE patterns in a chondrite-normalized REE diagram,and show tholeiitic dif.erentiation *** geochemical af.inity is towards rif.-related,continental within-plate *** 7%–10%melting of.the carbonated spinel-peridotite sub-continental lithospheric mantle(SCLM)produced the parental maf.c *** pre-existing SCLM was metasomatized by slab-derived f.uid during the previous *** upwelling of.the asthenosphere in a post-collisional tectonic setting caused E-W trending f.actures,lithospheric thinning,and gravitational *** dykes were emplaced during crustal extension around 1070 *** remarkable geochemical similarity between the maf.c dykes of.Saltora and Dhanbad,the ca.1096 Ma Mahoba(Bundelkhand craton),and the ca.1070 Ma Alcurra maf.c dykes in Australia supports a genetic link.

Time evolution of.the matter content of.the expanding universe in the f.amework of.Brans-Dicke gravity

A cosmological model has been constructed in the f.amework of.Brans-Dicke(BD) gravity,based on an inter-conversion between matter and dark energy, f.r a spatially f.at universe in the era of.pressureless dust. To account f.r the non-conservation of.the matter content, a f.nction of.time f.t) has been arbitrarily put into the expression f.r the density of.matter(ρa^3= f.t)ρ_0 a_0~3). By def.nition, f.t) is proportional to the matter content of.the universe. Using suitable ansatzes f.r the scale f.ctor and scalar f.eld, the f.nctional f.rm of.f.t) has been determined f.om the BD f.eld equations. The scale f.ctor has been so chosen that it would cause a signature f.ip in the deceleration parameter with time. The f.nction f.t) decreases monotonically with time, indicating a transf.rmation of.matter into dark energy. The time dependence of.the proportions of.matter and dark energy in the universe has been determined. The ef.ect of.non-conservation of.the matter content upon various cosmological parameters has been explored in the present study. Two models of.matter-energy interaction have been proposed and f.t) has been expressed as a f.nction of.their interaction term. The dark energy equation-of.state(EoS) parameter has been expressed and analyzed in terms of.f.t).

This paper reports a new simple f.ur-dimensional（4 D） hyperjerk chaotic system. The proposed system has only one stable equilibrium point. Hence, its strange attractor belongs to the category of.hidden attractors. The proposed system exhibits various dynamical behaviors including chaotic, periodic, stable nature, and coexistence of.various attractors. Numerous theoretical and numerical methods are used f.r the analyses of.this system. The chaotic behavior of.the new system is validated using circuit implementation. f.rther, the synchronization of.the proposed systems is shown by designing an adaptive integrator backstepping controller. Numerical simulation validates the synchronization strategy.

Quaternary tectonic control on channel morphology over sedimentary low land:A case study in the Ajay-Damodar interf.uve of.Eastern India

The style of.active tectonic on the def.rmation and characterization of.f.uvial landscape has been investigated on three typical skrike-slip f.ult zones of.the Ajay-Damodar Interf.uve（ADI） in Eastern India through f.eld mapping,structural analysis and examination of.digital topography（ASTER-30 m）,multispectral imageries,and Google Earth images,Channel morphology in Quaternary sediment is more def.rmed than Cenozoic lateritic tract and igneous rock system by the neotectonic activities,The structural and lithological controls on the river system in ADI region are ref.ected by distinct drainage patterns,abrupt change in f.ow direction,of.set river channels,straight river lines,ponded river channel,marshy lands,sag ponds,palaeo-channels,alluvial f.ns,meander cutof.s,multi-terrace river valley,incised compressed meander,convexity of.channel bed slope and knick points in longitudinal prof.le,Seven morphotectonic indices have been used to inf.r the role of.neotectonic on the modif.cation of.channel morphology,A tectonic index map f.r the ADI region has been prepared by the integration of.used morphotectonic indices,which is also calibrated by Bouguer gravity anomaly data and f.eld investigation.

Ef.ectiveness of.basin morphometry, remote sensing, and applied geosciences on groundwater recharge potential mapping： a comparative study within a small watershed

A multidisciplinary approach using the inte- grated f.eld of.geosciences （e.g., geomorphology, geotec- tonics, geophysics, and hydrology） is established to conduct groundwater recharge potential mapping of.the Kunur River Basin, India. The relative mean error （RME） calculation of.the results of.three applied techniques and water table data f.om twenty-f.ur observation wells in the basin over the 2000-2010 period are presented. Nine sub- basins were identif.ed and ranked f.r the RME calculation, where the observation wells-based ranking was taken as standard order f.r comparison. A linear model has been developed using six f.ctors （drainage density, surf.ce slope, ruggedness index, lineament density, Bouguer gravity anomaly, and potential maximum water retention capacity） and a grid-wise weighted index. In a separate comparative approach, the sub-basin and grid-wise analyses have been conducted to identif. the suitable spatial unit f.r watershed level hydrological modeling.

Callovian-Oxf.rdian hecticoceratins f.om western India:Their biostratigraphic and palaeobiogeographic implications

The Kutch Basin of.western India is f.mous f.r its rich assemblages of.the Callovian-Oxf.rdian *** f.mily Oppelidae Douvillé is the second most diverse ammonite group af.er perisphinctids during the Middle-Upper *** is the most diverse subf.mily within Oppelidae and has wide palaeobiogeographic(near cosmopolitan) and temporal distributions(Bathonian-Oxf.rdian).Some species were well timediagnostic and thus help in interprovincial *** taxonomy of.the subf.mily Hecticoceratinae of.Kutch was in a state of.f.ux until *** was not revised since Spath’s(1927-1933) great *** genera and species were morphogenera or morphospecies and they again suf.er f.om excessive subjective *** was theref.re badly needed f.r a comprehensive taxonomic revision of.the subf.mily with modern aspects of.systematics i.e.,sexual dimorphism and population dynamics.A lithostratigraphic f.amework has already been well documented in the Kutch Basin of.western India.A high resolution biostratigraphy incorporating stage-intrastage f.ssil assemblages have been used in interbasinal correlation based on the Callovian-Oxf.rdian *** cosmopolitan distribution of.many hecticoceratin genera were widely used f.r biostratigraphic zonation as well as an understanding of.the palaeobiogeographic *** phylogeny of.the subf.mily Hecticoceratinae has been used to construct the cladograms depicting area relationships among dif.erent provinces during the Callovian-Oxf.rdian.

The occurrence of.vibrational resonance(VR)in a dual-f.equency-driven multistable system with a spatially varying mass modelling particle with position-dependent mass(PDM)and evolving in a one-dimensional symmetric periodic potential has been investigated and reported in this *** numerically compute and analyze the response amplitude,the ef.ects of.the PDM parameters(m0,a)on the potential structure,the occurrence of.VR and the bif.rcation of.the equilibrium *** is shown that the PDM parameters,besides controlling VR,can induce unconventional resonance patterns through the variation of.the potential well *** resonant states can be inf.uenced through the cooperation of.the PDM parameters and the external f.rcing leading the system f.om multiresonance state into single and double resonance *** contributions of.the f.xed rest mass m0 on the VR and the PDM-induced resonance are determined by threshold conditions imposed by the magnitude of.the mass nonlinear strength a.
