全基因组关联分析策略已逐渐成为家畜重要经济性状研究的强有力工具。文章使用猪60K SNP芯片对一个具多胎繁殖性状记录的商业母猪群(n=820)进行分型检测,共计57 814个SNP通过设定质控标准。主成分分析显示群体内不存在显著的群体分层现象,而后分别运用两种统计模型Compressed Mixed Linear Model(GAPIT程序包)、Bayes CPi(GenSel软件)进行第1和第2胎次总产仔数和产活仔数性状的全基因组关联分析。从两种分析方法所得结果中各取最显著的50个SNP位点进行比较:对于第1胎次总产仔数,两种方法分析结果存在31个重合SNP位点,对于第1胎次产活仔数,有20个重合SNP位点;且两种统计分析结果中最显著的SNP位点都在另一方法中得到验证。与第1胎次总产仔数显著关联的SNP位于1、2、3、7、13、16和18号染色体,与第1胎次产活仔数显著关联的SNP位于1、3、4、13和16号染色体上的11个区域内。在1、3、13和16染色体上共有5个区域同时与这两个性状显著关联。与第2胎次总产仔数和产活仔数显著关联的区域主要位于7、10、12、13、14和16号染色体的6个重叠区域内。

Objective:Parents may use various information sources to obtain information about sport-related concussions(SRC).This study examined SRCrelated information sources used by parents of United States middle school children(age:10-15 years).Methods:A panel of 1083 randomly selected ***,aged≥18 years and identifying as parents of middle school children,completed an online questionnaire capturing parental and child characteristics,and utilization and perceived trustworthiness of various sources of SRC-related *** logistic regression models identified factors associated with utilizing each *** odds ratios(OR)with 95%confidence intervals(95%CIs)excluding 1.00 were deemed ***:Doctors/healthcare providers(49.9%)and other healthcare-related resources(e.g.,Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,WebMD)(37.8%)were common SRC-related information sources;64.0%of parents utilized≥1 of these *** sources were considered“very”or“extremely”trustworthy for SRC-related information among parents using these sources(doctors/healthcare providers:89.8%;other healthcare-related resources:70.9%).A 10-year increase in parental age was associated with higher odds of utilizing doctors/healthcare providers(adjusted odd ratio(OR_(adjusted))=1.09,95%CI:1.02-1.16)and other healthcare-related resources(OR_(adjusted)=1.11,95%CI:1.03-1.19).The odds of utilizing doctors/healthcare providers(OR_(adjusted)=0.58,95%CI:0.40-0.84)and other healthcare-related resources(OR_(adjusted)=0.64,95%CI:0.44-0.93)were lower among parents whose middle school children had concussion histories versus the parents of children who did not have concussion ***:One-third of parents did not report using doctors/healthcare providers or other healthcare-related resources for SRC-related *** associated with underutilization of these sources may be targets for future *** education for healthcare providers and e

试验采用96头杜洛克猪,这些猪是用反相选择跛行的方法所建立的两个品系的第7代后裔,测定其前肢的尺骨长,尺宽,足长和体长是否有差异。品系分为跛行组和健康组,后者表示在前肢结构上发育良好。所有猪都在二个特定日龄测定,平均117日龄和159日龄,并在每圈猪平均体重达到95kg时进行第三次测量,结束试验。资料用变量分析,混合方程包括品系、重复批次、饲料和性别的影响,并以体重或日龄作协方差分析。健康组猪比跛行组猪足长较长(P<0.01),在117日龄大7％,159日龄大14％,在试验结束时大30％。健康组猪的足宽则几乎和跛行组相等。对不同程度跛行选择的影响也表现在猪的体形方面,健康组猪比跛行组猪在159日龄时体长和尺骨长相对较短,在达到上市体重时体长轻短。对不同程度跛行的选择已使社洛克猪的结构发生了许多变化。

Backfat thickness is a good predictor of carcass lean content,an economically important trait,and a main breeding target in pig *** this study,the candidate genes and genomic regions associated with the tenth rib backfat thickness trait were identified in two independent pig populations,using a genome-wide association study of porcine 60K SNP genotype data applying the compressed mixed linear model(CMLM)statistical *** each population,30 most significant single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)were selected and SNP annotation implemented using Sus scrofa Build *** the first population,25 significant SNPs were distributed on seven chromosomes,and SNPs on SSC1 and SSC7 showed great significance for fat *** most significant SNP(ALGA0006623)was located on SSC1,upstream of the MC4R *** the second population,27 significant SNPs were recognized by annotation,and 12 SNPs on SSC12 were related to fat *** haplotype blocks,M1GA0016251-MARC0075799 and ALGA0065251-MARC0014203-M1GA0016298-ALGA0065308,were detected in significant regions where the PIPNC1 and GH1 genes were identified as contributing to fat *** results indicated that genetic mechanism regulating backfat thickness is complex,and that genome-wide associations can be affected by populations with different genetic backgrounds.

Butterflies Extracts Show Antibacterial Activity

Extracts of several British butterfly species were tested and shown to possess powerful bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria (tested on Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis). The active compounds in the grass-feeding species were identified as hydroxylated pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) related to loline with nitrogen at C-1. Lolines are known insecticidal and insect-deterrent compounds that are produced in grasses infected by endophytic fungal symbionts. Lolines also increase resistance of endophyte-infected grasses to insect herbivores. The butterfly-isolated pyrrolizidine alkaloids appear to be novel and non-toxic to human cells such as HaCat human skin keratinocytes and Hep-2 human epithelial cells. The discovery of novel agents from butterflies could lead to the development of new antimicrobials.

到目前为止,在家畜中所确识的影响数量性状的单个主基因还很有限,通过候选基因法,利用包括中国梅山猪在内的两个极端品种杂交,发现雌激素受体(EstrogenReceptor,ER)位点的一个基因与高产仔数主基因连锁。含有50%梅山猪血液的合成系中,此有利基因的纯合型母猪比不利基因的纯合型母猪初产时多2.3头仔猪,各胎平均多产1.5头。在含有大白猪血统的猪只中也发现了此有益的 ER 基因。对含有大白血液的母猪进行分析发现,此有利基因的纯合型比其它等位基因的纯合型母猪多产1头仔猪。对生长性状的性能测验记录进行分析表明,该有利基因与生长发育性状之间没有显著的不良连锁。对 ER 基因进行定位显示,最邻近的已知基因或已知标记距其3分摩。据作者所知,其中的过氧化物歧化酶2基因(SOD2)是第一次在猪中定位。对 ER 及其它标记的分析表明,ER 是预测产仔数最好的标记。向不存在该有利基因的商品猪培育品系中引入此基因,以及在含有梅山和大白血液的品系中对此有利基因的标记辅助选择已经开始。
