Background:Return to play(RTP)in elite rugby is managed using a 6-stage graduated RTP protocol,which can result in clearance to play within 1 week of *** aimed to explore how symptom,cognitive,and balance presentation and evolution during concussion screens 2 h(head injury assessment(HIA2)and 48 h(HIA3)after injury were associated with time to RTP)to identify whether a more conservative graduated RTP may be ***:A retrospective cohort study was conducted in 380 concussed rugby players from elite men’s rugby over 3 consecutive *** were classified as shorter or longer returns,depending on whether RTP occurred within 7 days(allowing them to be considered to play the match 1 week after injury)or longer than 8 days,***,cognitive,and balance performance during screens was assessed relative to baseline(normal or abnormal)and to the preceding screen(improving or worsening).Associations between sub-test abnormalities and RTP time were explored using odds ratios(OR,longer ***).Median day absence was compared between players with abnormal or worsening results and those whose results were normal or ***:Abnormal symptom results during screens 2 h and 48 h after concussion were associated with longer return time(HIA2:OR=2.21,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.39-3.50;HIA3:OR=3.30,95%CI:1.89-5.75).Worsening symptom number or severity from the time of injury to 2 h and 48 h post-injury was associated with longer return(HIA2:OR=2.49,95%CI:1.36-4.58;HIA3:OR=3.34,95%CI:1.10-10.15).Median days absence was greater in players with abnormal symptom results at both HIA2 and *** and balance performance were not associated with longer return and did not affect median days ***:Symptom presentation and evolution within 48 h of concussion were associated with longer RTP *** may guide a more conservative approach to RTP,while still adhering to individualized concussion management principles.

Dear Editor,Brassica carinata(Bc Bc Cc Cc),an important agricultural crop cultivated for the edible oil,leafy vegetable,high-value protein stockfeed,and biofuel markets,contains favorable genetic variation that can be exploited to develop climate-resilient and wateruse-efficient Brassica crops(Seepaul et al.,2021).Although several quantitative trait loci(QTLs)for flowering time,seed quality traits,and pod shatter resistance(PSR)have been identified based on high-density genetic linkage maps(Zou et al.,2014;Raman et al.,2017;Zhang et al.,2017),this information alone is insufficient for practical genetic improvement and breeding applications.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis as an independent risk factor for colorectal cancer in the context of inflammatory bowel disease: A review of the literature

To examine and evaluate recent evidence regarding the epidemiology, pathogenesis and management of colorectal cancer(CRC) development in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)-primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC) patients. Using the PubMed database, a literature search was conducted for relevant articles in English from the past 10 years. Relevant studies investigating PSC as a risk factor for CRC in IBD in the context of incidence and prevalence, pathogenesis, prevention and prognosis were included in this review. Recent evidence increasingly points to PSC as a significant risk factor in the development of CRC in patients with concomitant IBD. PSC may be an important risk factor for CRC in different populations worldwide. The mechanism for this increase in risk is still unclear. The efficacy of UDCA as a chemopreventive agent remains controversial. Liver transplantation does not halt the development of CRC, although there is not enough evidence to suggest that it is associated with increased incidence of CRC. While routine colonoscopic surveillance should be performed in patients with concurrent PSC and IBD, more high-level evidence is required to support the benefits of the procedure. While many new developments have taken place in the last decade, the pathogenesis and optimal management of CRC development in IBD-PSC patients remain unclear.

Air pollution has emerged as one of the major problems in developing countries like Nepal. Although increased studies aimed at air pollution issues have been conducted in the country relatively recently, the up-to-date database to summarize the status of these studies is virtually not present. In order to fill in the information gaps that exist for the status of air pollution studies in Nepal, there is an urgent need to summarize the available literature and create a data base that would provide a comprehensive and thorough picture of air pollution scenario in Nepal. The overarching aim of this study is to create a data base that would provide a comprehensive and thorough picture of air pollution scenario in Nepal. The exhaustive search of published scientific articles and report aimed at air pollution in Nepal were conducted by an electronic search of Google Scholar. Studies related to air pollution conducted in Nepal from the early 1990’s to 2013 were collected, and were organized into different categories. My results suggest that there have been some extensive researches only on some of the major air pollutants such as particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide. Results also showed that a huge numbers of studies are focused only in the Kathmandu valley and its surrounding metropolitan areas such as Bhaktapur and Lalitpur which are the major cities in the central development region of the country. Even among these three cities, the priority has been given to alone Kathmandu as it is the capital of the country. Only handful of studies have focused outside the valley in urban centers such as Pokhara, Buwal, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj etc. or other development regions. My analysis showed that the ambient air of Nepal is heavily polluted and that the quality of the air is degrading from last few years. Synthesis, characterization, cytotoxicity, DNA cleavage and antimicrobial activity of homodinuclear lanthanide complexes of phenylthioacetic acid

Lanthanide complexes of Eu（III）, Gd（III）, Nd（III）, Sm（III）, and Tb（III） with phenylthioacetic acid were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass, infrared radiation （IR）, electronic spectra, molar conductance, thermogravimetric analysis （TGA）, and powder X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The results showed that the lanthanide complexes were homodinuclear in nature. The two lanthanide ions were bridged by eight oxygen atoms from four carboxylate groups. Thermal decomposition profiles were consis- tent with the proposed formulations. Powder XRD studies showed that all the complexes were amorphous in nature. Antimicrobial studies indicated that these complexes exhibited more activity than the ligand itself. The DNA cleavage activity of the ligand and its complexes were assayed on CT DNA using gel electrophoresis in the presence of H202. The result showed that the Eu（Ⅲ） and Nd（Ⅲ） complexes completely cleaved the DNA. The anticancer activities of the complexes were also studied towards human cervical cancer cell line （HeLa） and colon cancer cells （HCT116） and it was found that the Eu（Ⅲ） and Nd（Ⅲ） complexes were more active than the corresponding Gd（Ⅲ）, Sm（Ⅲ）, Tb（Ⅲ） complexes and the free ligand on both the cancer cells.

Even though multispectral imaging is considered very significant in biological imaging,it is only commonly used in microscopy in a 2D ***,we present a Fluorescence Molecular Tomography system capable of recording simultaneously tomographic data at several spectral windows,enabling multispectral tomography.3D reconstructed data from several spectral windows is used to construct a linear unmixing algorithm for multispectral deconvolution of overlapping fluorescence *** method is applied on tomographic 3D fluorescence concentration maps in tissue-mimicking phantoms,yielding absolute quantification of the concentration of each individual *** are compared to the case when unmixing is performed in the raw 2D data instead of the reconstructed 3D concentration map,showing greater accuracy when unmixing algorithms are applied in the reconstructed *** the reflection and transmission geometries are considered.

Chronic otitis media and subsequent hearing loss in children from the Himalayan region residing in Buddhist Monastic schools of Nepal

Objectives:The main objective of the study was to ascertain the prevalence of chronic otitis media and determine the corresponding hearing loss in children from Nepal’s Himalayan region now residing in Buddhist Monastic schools of ***:The study was conducted among children at Buddhist monastic school in different parts of Nepal.A total of 3174 children aged between 5 and 15 years,who were originally from the Himalayan region of Nepal and were currently residing in monastic schools,were screened for ear problems and hearing *** were examined by otoscope to diagnose chronic otitis *** was evaluated by pure tone audiometer,and 0.5e4 kHz air conduction hearing threshold was measured and ***:Of the total of 3174 children who were screened for ear diseases and hearing loss,monks constituted 76.21%(n?2419)and Nuns 23.78%(n?755).Chronic otitis media was the most common otoscopic finding during the screening,and it affected a total of 344(10.83%)*** of these 344,hearing loss of varying degrees was observed in 5.42%(n?172)***:There is high prevalence of chronic otitis media in children belonging to the Himalayan region of Nepal,and it is the main cause of avoidable hearing *** diagnosis and treatment of chronic otitis media could prevent unnecessary hearing loss in these children.

Antibiotics and probiotics in treatment of inflammatory bowel disease

Many experimental and clinical observations suggest that intestinal microflora plays a potential role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease （IBD）. Manipulation of the luminal content using antibiotics or probiotics represents a potentially effective therapeutic option. The available studies do not support the use of antibiotics in ulcerative colitis （UC）. Antibiotics are effective in treating septic complications of Crohn＇s disease （CD） but their use as a primary therapy is more controversial, although this approach is frequently and successfully adopted in clinical *** is evidence that probiotic therapy may be effective in the prevention and treatment of mild to moderate UC. In contrast, a lack of successful study data at present precludes the widespread use of probiotics in the treatment of CD. Both antibiotics and probiotics appear to play a beneficial role in the treatment and prevention of pouchitis and further trials are warranted to fully quantify their clinical efficacy.
