Objective: To evaluate the genetic diversity of clinical and environmental isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei(***) recovered in Ceara, Brazil, and screen these isolates for the presence of type three secretion system virulence ***: Nineteen *** isolates(9 from clinical cases and 10 from soils)were *** amplified polymorphic DNA was performed with primers OPQ-2, OPQ-4 and OPQ-16 to evaluate the genetic diversity, and type three secretion system gene was detected through polymerase chain ***: Random amplified polymorphic DNA showed a genetic relatedness of approximately 50% among the tested *** isolates, which were grouped into two clades, of which the biggest ones comprised 18/19 isolates for primer OPQ-2, and 17/19 isolates for primer *** OPQ-4 grouped the isolates into three clades comprising 1/19, 3/19 and 15/19 ***, type three secretion system gene was detected in all tested ***: This is an effort to type *** strains from Ceara, which is important for better understanding this pathogen, contributing for the epidemiological surveillance of melioidosis in this endemic region.

当前,基于人工智能技术进步的变革浪潮使人们更加担心失业和不平等将日益加剧。本文讨论了造成这些恐慌的基本原因,强调了人工智能的特殊性,并将以前的自动化和自动化浪潮与当前人工智能的广泛应用所带来的进步进行了比较。在全球范围内,包括发展中国家,人工智能的应用能够大幅度降低资本成本,激发生产力提高的潜力,进而为生产力的提高提供巨大的机会。同时,如果要广泛分享基于人工智能的技术进步带来的益处,就需要解决进一步加剧的不平等的风险。因此,技能政策的进一步完善是必要的,但仅靠技能政策解决上述风险是不够的。为此,需要创新数字经济监管形式,以防止市场的进一步集中,确保对数据和隐私提供适当的保护,通过整合使用利润共享、(数字)资本税、减少工作时间等政策措施使社会能够共享生产力增长的红利。本文认为,如果政策决策者和社会各方参与者能够将这些新技术的特性加以考虑的话,我们应当对人工智能带来的机遇和风险持有适度乐观的态度。

Phthalate Metabolites in Amniotic Fluid and Maternal Urine Samples

The objective of this study was to determine the concentrations of the metabolites of four selected phthalates, widely used industrial chemicals which possess endocrine-disrupting properties, in samples of amniotic fluid and maternal urine collected in the same day, in order to verify if the latter can be considered a measure of the fetal exposure. The quantitative determination of the metabolites was carried out by HPLC-MS/MS with isotopic dilution from 70 pregnant volunteers. Detectable concentrations of phthalates metabolites were found in amniotic fluids. As phthalate monoesters are excreted in the urine conjugated with glucuronic acid, an enzymatic hydrolysis is carried out before analysis. Amniotic fluids were tested with and without hydrolysis and only the free phthalate metabolites, not conjugated with glucuronic acid, were found. The concentration of metabolites after enzymatic hydrolysis in maternal urine is not correlated to those of amniotic fluids, but the free form concentrations are. These results suggest that only the free forms can cross the placenta. A significant number of mothers showed urine phthalate monoesters concentrations higher than non-pregnant women.

Objective:To characterize biofilm production by clinical(n=21)and environmental(n=11)isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei and evaluate the production of proteases,hemolysins and ***:Initially,the 32 strains were evaluated for biofilm production in Müller-Hinton broth-1%glucose(MH-1%glucose)and BHI broth-1%glucose,using the crystal violet staining ***,growing(48 h)and mature(72 h)biofilms were evaluated by confocal ***,the production of proteases,hemolysins and siderophores by planktonic aggregates,growing biofilms and mature biofilms was ***:All isolates produced biofilms,but clinical isolates had significantly higher biomass in both MH-1%glucose(P<0.001)and BHI-glucose 1%(P=0.005).The structural analyses by confocal microscopy showed thick biofilms,composed of multiple layers of cells,homogeneously arranged,with mature biofilms of clinical isolates presenting higher biomass(P=0.019)and thickness of the entire area(P=0.029),and lower roughness coefficient(P=0.007)than those of environmental *** production by growing biofilms was significantly greater than that of planktonic(P<0.001)and mature biofilms(P<0.001).Hemolysin release by planktonic aggregates was higher than that of biofilms(P<0.001).Regarding siderophores,mature biofilms presented higher production than growing biofilms(P<0.001)and planktonic aggregates(P<0.001).Conclusions:Clinical isolates have higher production of biofilms than their environmental counterparts;protease and siderophores seem important for growth and maintenance of Burkholderia pseudomallei biofilms.

The fatty acids composition and the related health lipid indices (IA, atherogenic and IT thrombogenic) of Blue Fin Tuna’s (Thunnus thynnus L.) raw roe and their cured product bottarga, both considered a delicacy, were studied. The fatty acid (FA) composition of tuna’s roe and bottarga showed a relevant proportion (40.87% and 36.62% respectively) of poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) with a prevalence of the n – 3 series, that showed values almost ten folds higher than those of n – 6 fatty acids, in both classes of analyzed samples. The IA and IT indices resulted comparable in tuna’s roe and in the bottarga samples respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first detailed report on the fatty acids composition and the related lipid health indices in tuna’s raw roe and in their cured product “bottarga”.

Residual ridge shape is important for the seating of a prosthesis. The objective of this case report was to illustrate the importance of reduction maneuvers with regard to alveolar bone plates after multiple tooth extractions in patients with prostheses and special needs. In the current patient, there were difficulties during the adaptation and fitting of the upper denture. Bilateral bone resection was indicated in the molar buccal region. Late regularization of the alveolar ridge, which was accomplished in hospital, was necessary for the preparation, adaptation, and use of the denture. The general and systemic health care of the patient should be monitored throughout surgical intervention. Though tooth extractions are common procedures, particular attention is required to ensure adequate alveolar ridge remodeling that is conducive to oral rehabilitation.

BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants are widely known as major risk factors mainly for breast and ovarian cancer,while their role in gastrointestinal(GI)malignancies such as colorectal cancer(CRC),gastric cancer and oesophageal cancer(OeC)is still not well *** main objective of this review is to summarise the available evidence on this *** studies included in the review were selected from PubMed/GoogleScholar/ScienceDirect databases to identify published articles where BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants were assessed either as a risk factor or a prognostic/predictive factor in these *** review suggests that BRCA1/2 might have a role as a risk factor for colorectal,gastric and OeC,albeit with differences among these diseases:In particular BRCA1 seems to be much more frequently mutated in CRC whereas BRCA2 appears to be much more closely associated with gastric and ***-onset cancer seems to be also associated with BRCA1/2 mutations and a few studies suggest a positive prognostic role of these *** assessment of a potentially predictive role of these mutations is hampered by the fact that most patients with these diseases have been treated with platinum compounds,where it is expected that a higher probability of response should be seen.A few clinical trials focused on poly(ADPribose)polymerase inhibitors use in GI cancers are currently ongoing.

Objective: To report atypical morphological features of Trichophyton(T.) tonsurans strains associated with tinea capitis. Methods: Eighty-two T. tonsurans strains isolated in Ceará, Brazil, were analyzed regarding macro and micromorphological features and nutritional patterns. Results: Fifty-two samples presented abundant chlamydoconidia, which were produced in chains. Macroscopically, these strains developed small glabrous colonies that were firmly attached to the surface of the culture medium, with few or no aerial mycelia and intense rusty yellow pigmentation. Seven strains did not grow with stimulus from thiamine. Samples were heterogeneous regarding urease production and none presented in vitro hair perforation. Conclusions: The observation of T. tonsurans strains with distinct phenotypic features indicates the need to revise the taxonomic criteria for routine identification of this dermatophyte.
