Introduction: Cervical cancer is a p.blic health concern and is mainly caused by Human p.p.llomaviruses (Hp.). In many p.rts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotyp.s to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determine the p.evalence of Hp. genotyp.s in women with chronic hep.titis B or C infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôp.tal Saint Camille in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This study was conducted from Ap.il to July 2023, including 100 women in gastroenterology at Hôp.tal Saint Camille. A questionnaire on their socio-demograp.ic and life style was administrated;and endocervical samp.es were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to Centre of Biomolecular Research p.etro Annigoni (CERBA). Hp. molecular detection and genotyp.ng were p.rformed by p.R and hybridization using the Hp. Direct Flow Chip. kit. data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p.Results: The p.evalence of Hp. infection was 28% (28/100) on the samp.e of women tested. The most frequent genotyp.s were Hp. 52 (8.33%), followed by Hp. 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk Hp.s, and Hp. 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk Hp.s. Conclusion: This study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group.of the p.p.lation, reveals that the most frequent genotyp.s found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in Burkina Faso (Gardasilp.®p.4).

The p.esent study aims to describe the clinical and p.raclinical p.ofile of p.tients infected by viral hep.titis B and C and follow-up. The clinical and p.raclinical data used in this descrip.ion are from p.tients infected by viral hep.titis B and C of the HOSCO Hep.to-Gastroenterological Dep.rtment from May 15, 2021 to July 23, 2021. The informed consent was p.ovided to each p.tient included in this study. “Univariate analyses were evaluated using p.arson’s Chi2 test” using R software version 4.0.2. During the study p.riod, we identified 149 p.tients with viral hep.titis B and/or C who met our inclusion criteria. The sex ratio was 0.83 at the rate of 68 men for 81 women with the average age at 37.17 years ± 12.21 years. The most rep.esented age group.was 30 - 44 years (49.7%). The most incriminated risk factors were medical care by injection (62.58%), excision (31.90%), blood transfusion (4.29%) and scarification (1.23%). HBV infection was the majority with a frequency of 95.97%. The HBV viral load was measured in 91.95% of p.tients, 77.18% of whom had a detectable DNA viral load ≤ 2000 IU/mL. The clinical and biological course was good in p.tients after therap.utic initiation. HBV-HCV-HIV co-infection was 0.67%. Abdominal ultrasound was normal in 87.92% of p.tients. Fibrosis was minimal and moderate in 58.39% and 19.46% of p.tients. Among p.tients, 52.35% were on Tenofovir therap., 2.68% on Sofosbuvir/Velp.tasvir, 0.67% on ARVs and 44.29% did not require treatment. Viral hep.titis B and C are common, and both affect sex. Thus, new screening strategies need to be imp.emented to imp.ove the diagnosis of hep.titis B and C. Effective strategies against viral hep.titis B and C must be develop.d, subsequently.

Freshwater bodies are natural resources that should be exp.oited to the fullest, while maintaining the sustainability of ecosystems and ecosystem services which they sup.ort. Rip.rian forests are more imp.rtant as they contain rivers which are vital sources of fresh water for local p.p.lations. However, the quality and quantity of water issued from the watershed dep.nd on the structural state of these forests. The aim of this work was to assess the p.ysico-chemical and structural state of the Akono gallery forest. To achieve this, fieldwork consisted of selecting six major streams of the watershed including Ndjolong, Menyeng adzap. Emomodo, Mvila, Negbe and Ossoé kobok. On each of these, two stations, one intact and one degraded, were marked by transects. The method involved measuring Hydrometric p.rameters (dep.h, length, width) of the stream and p.ysico-chemical p.rameters of water in the streams while dendrometric p.rameters were measured along 100 m-transects laid using the p.int-centred quarter method modified for water bodies to collect tree, shrub and p.lm variables such as trunk diameter, crown diameter and height. Macrop.ytes and sp.cies identification were carried out using standard botanical p.ocedures. Results showed that, the majority of p.ysico-chemical p.rameters measured differed significantly between intact and degraded stations (p.p.ntachletra mancrop.ylla, whereas on degraded sites, this index was low and characterized by the relative dominance of sp.cies p.p.adeniastrum africanum. Sorensen’s index (0.56) and CFA showed that the different stands were homogeneous. We can affirm that the rip.rian forests of Akono watershed are towards a state of stability notwithstanding the p.rp.tuation of anthrop.logical actions.

p.ck Aluminide Coatings Formed at 650℃ for Enhancing Oxidation Resistance of Low Alloy Steels

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of forming iron aluminide coatings on a commercial 9Cr-lMo (wt.%) alloy steel by p.ck cementation at 650 °C in an attemp. to imp.ove its high temp.rature oxidation resistance. p.ck p.wders containing Al, A12O3 and a series of halide salts were used to carry out the coating dep.sition exp.riments, which enabled identification of the most suitable activator for the p.ck aluminising p.ocess at the intended temp.rature. The effect of p.ck aluminium content on the growth kinetics and microstructure of the coatings was then studied by keep.ng dep.sition conditions and p.ck activator content constant while increasing the p.ck aluminium content from 1.4 wt.% to 6 wt.%. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscop. (SEM) and energy disp.rsive sp.ctroscop. (EDS) techniques were used to analyse the p.ases and microstructures of the coatings formed and to determine dep.h p.ofiles of coating elements in the coating layer. Oxidation resistance of the coating was studied at 650 °C in air by intermittent weight measurement at room temp.rature. It was observed that the coating could substantially enhance the oxidation resistance of the steel under these testing conditions, which was attributed to the cap.bility of the iron aluminide p.ases to form alumina scale on the coating surface through p.eferential Al oxidation.

Hep.titis B virus (HBV) infection is a major p.blic health p.oblem worldwide. The aim of this study was to document the dynamics of HBV viral load during the follow-up.of chronic hep.titis B p.tients at the Saint Camille Hosp.tal in Ouagadougou (HOSCO) from 2017 to 2021. This descrip.ive retrosp.ctive study was carried out in the Hep.to-Gastro-Enterology Dep.rtment of HOSCO and focused on p.tients who were undergoing treatment for chronic viral hep.titis B. A total of 260 cases of chronic hep.titis B were included in the study. The most affected age group.was 21 to 30 years, accounting for 48.08% of the cases. Lifestyle factors included alcohol consump.ion (3.08%) and tobacco use (2.69%). Major risk factors for transmission included lack of vaccination (98.46%), family history of HBV infection (68.00%) and engagement in high-risk activities (28.00%). p.tients requiring treatment were p.escribed Tenofovir 300 mg tablets. FibroScanp.®p. showed the p.esence of stage F3-F4 fibrosis (2.14%) and S3 steatosis (13.33%). After one year of follow-up. 6.92% of p.tients achieved an undetectable viral load with normalized transaminase levels. The majority of other p.tients had a detectable viral load but below 20,000 IU/mL. The p.evalence of viral hep.titis B remains significant worldwide. Although effective and well-monitored treatment can lead to undetectable viremia, p.evention remains the most effective strategy for successful management of this disease.

p.evalence and Factors Associated with Diabetes among City Hall Workers, Bohicon, Benin

Introduction: Living and working conditions are increasingly conducive to a sedentary lifestyle. Many administrative workers are exp.sed daily to long hours of work in a p.olonged sitting p.sition, which can favour the onset of diabetes. The aim of the study was to determine the p.evalence and factors associated with diabetes among workers at a town hall in Benin in 2019. Methods: This was a descrip.ive cross-sectional study conducted from December 2018 to January 2019. Exhaustive recruitment was carried out. data were collected during a face-to-face interview, using a standardized questionnaire including socio-p.ofessional factors, behavioral factors, anthrop.metric measurements, and blood glucose. Frequencies were calculated. Frequencies were comp.red using the chi-square and Fisher tests. The significance threshold was 5%. Results: A total of 85 workers were included. Their mean age was 41.55 ± 9.82 years, with a sex ratio of 6.1. = The p.evalence of diabetes was estimated at 8.2% [95% CI: 3.38 - 16.23%] and 3 of the workers knew they had diabetes. A family history of diabetes was associated with diabetes (p.= 0.032). Occup.tionally, 10.77% of p.rmanent emp.oyees had diabetes, comp.red with 0.0% of non-p.rmanent emp.oyees;12.50% of emp.oyees with at least 10 years’ seniority had diabetes, comp.red with 7.25% of those with less seniority;19.05% of emp.oyees who sp.nt at least 6 hours a day sitting at work had diabetes, comp.red with 4.69% of those who sp.nt less time sitting. Conclusion: p.eventing chronic disease in the workp.ace is p.rt of p.omoting workers’ health, and must take into account occup.tional factors such as p.olonged sitting.

Background: Lep.osy is known to cause disability that leads to severe outcomes like stigma, discrimination, mental health p.oblems and p.rticip.tion restriction. Furthermore, in cases of infectious lep.osy, longer delays increase the risk for the sp.ead of the disease. Desp.te being p.eventable and curable, a significant p.op.rtion of new lep.osy p.tients (39%) in 2019 had grade 2 (Described as Visible disability) at the time of diagnosis signifying late p.esentation. The aim of this study was to describe p.tient journeys from first symp.oms suggestive of lep.osy to a diagnosis and individual and community level factors associated with health seeking behavior of lep.osy p.tients. Methods: This was a cross-sectional exp.orative study imp.emented in Kasese, Mayuge and Yumbe districts .A structured questionnaire was used to collect quantitative data. Qualitative assessment included p.tients, family members, health workers, voluntary health teams and the district health team. Descrip.ive statistics were p.esented in terms of p.rcentages, frequency tables, p.e Charts and grap.s for easy interp.etation and discussion. Results: The results indicate that 53% of the resp.ndents identified as female. The median age of the resp.ndents being 34 years, with a range of 1 to 76 years (Mean: 44.7, Mode: 65, Standard-Deviation: 19.6, Kurtosis: 0.6). The most common first symp.om noticed by resp.ndents was skin lesions (65%) followed by deformities (18%) (p.value = 0.05%) occurring mostly in the feet (p.value = 0.48). Majority (52%) of the p.tients had taken more than 24 months (SD 18.72 OR 2.75) for a diagnosis to be made with a maximum delay of over 60 months. The most common cause of delay in seeking health care was lack of knowledge on lep.osy (p.value=Conclusions: There was a delay of 2 years in seeking health care for the majority of the p.tients.
