Freshwater bodies are natural resources that should be exp.oited to the fullest, while maintaining the sustainability of ecosystems and ecosystem services which they sup.ort. Rip.rian forests are more imp.rtant as they contain rivers which are vital sources of fresh water for local p.p.lations. However, the quality and quantity of water issued from the watershed dep.nd on the structural state of these forests. The aim of this work was to assess the p.ysico-chemical and structural state of the Akono gallery forest. To achieve this, fieldwork consisted of selecting six major streams of the watershed including Ndjolong, Menyeng adzap. Emomodo, Mvila, Negbe and Ossoé kobok. On each of these, two stations, one intact and one degraded, were marked by transects. The method involved measuring Hydrometric p.rameters (dep.h, length, width) of the stream and p.ysico-chemical p.rameters of water in the streams while dendrometric p.rameters were measured along 100 m-transects laid using the p.int-centred quarter method modified for water bodies to collect tree, shrub and p.lm variables such as trunk diameter, crown diameter and height. Macrop.ytes and sp.cies identification were carried out using standard botanical p.ocedures. Results showed that, the majority of p.ysico-chemical p.rameters measured differed significantly between intact and degraded stations (p.p.ntachletra mancrop.ylla, whereas on degraded sites, this index was low and characterized by the relative dominance of sp.cies p.p.adeniastrum africanum. Sorensen’s index (0.56) and CFA showed that the different stands were homogeneous. We can affirm that the rip.rian forests of Akono watershed are towards a state of stability notwithstanding the p.rp.tuation of anthrop.logical actions.

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of forming iron aluminide coatings on a commercial 9Cr-lMo (wt.%) alloy steel by p.ck cementation at 650 °C in an attemp. to imp.ove its high temp.rature oxidation resistance. p.ck p.wders containing Al, A12O3 and a series of halide salts were used to carry out the coating dep.sition exp.riments, which enabled identification of the most suitable activator for the p.ck aluminising p.ocess at the intended temp.rature. The effect of p.ck aluminium content on the growth kinetics and microstructure of the coatings was then studied by keep.ng dep.sition conditions and p.ck activator content constant while increasing the p.ck aluminium content from 1.4 wt.% to 6 wt.%. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscop. (SEM) and energy disp.rsive sp.ctroscop. (EDS) techniques were used to analyse the p.ases and microstructures of the coatings formed and to determine dep.h p.ofiles of coating elements in the coating layer. Oxidation resistance of the coating was studied at 650 °C in air by intermittent weight measurement at room temp.rature. It was observed that the coating could substantially enhance the oxidation resistance of the steel under these testing conditions, which was attributed to the cap.bility of the iron aluminide p.ases to form alumina scale on the coating surface through p.eferential Al oxidation.

Vehicular emissions are considered one of the major anthrop.genic sources of greenhouse gases and p.or air quality in metrop.litan *** study aims to see the correlation of CO_(2),CH_(4),and CO through monitoring over a p.riod from December 2020 to October 2021 covering three seasons’winter,summer,and monsoon at two different traffic locations of Delhi having different traffic volumes,road p.tterns,and traffic *** annual average morning concentration of CO_(2),CH_(4)and CO was found(533±105),(7.3±3.1),(10.7±3.0)p.m at Najafgarh and(480±70),(5.2±1.8),(7.8±2.8)p.m at Rajendra p.ace,resp.ctively.A relationship.between concentration of all three gases and meteorological p.rameters such as temp.rature,humidity,wind sp.ed and wind direction has also been investigated using p.arson correlation coefficient and p.llution rose diagram.A comp.rable p.ttern in concentration was observed for all three gases in sp.tial(location)and temp.ral(diurnal)*** concentration trend of CO_(2)in different seasons is winter>summer>monsoon,while in the case of CH_(4)winter=summer>monsoon but not any seasonal trend was noted in CO *** is observed that CO_(2)has a good relation with CO(a tracer for vehicular emission)in terms of diurnal variation,whereas,CH_(4)does not rep.esent a relation with CO and CO_(2)diurnally,suggesting that vehicles are the source of CO_(2)but not much contributing to other greenhouse gases like CH_(4).

Introduction: Cervical cancer is a p.blic health concern and is mainly caused by Human p.p.llomaviruses (Hp.). In many p.rts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotyp.s to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determine the p.evalence of Hp. genotyp.s in women with chronic hep.titis B or C infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôp.tal Saint Camille in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This study was conducted from Ap.il to July 2023, including 100 women in gastroenterology at Hôp.tal Saint Camille. A questionnaire on their socio-demograp.ic and life style was administrated;and endocervical samp.es were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to Centre of Biomolecular Research p.etro Annigoni (CERBA). Hp. molecular detection and genotyp.ng were p.rformed by p.R and hybridization using the Hp. Direct Flow Chip. kit. Data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p.Results: The p.evalence of Hp. infection was 28% (28/100) on the samp.e of women tested. The most frequent genotyp.s were Hp. 52 (8.33%), followed by Hp. 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk Hp.s, and Hp. 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk Hp.s. Conclusion: This study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group.of the p.p.lation, reveals that the most frequent genotyp.s found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in Burkina Faso (gardasilp.®p.4).

Introduction: Living and working conditions are increasingly conducive to a sedentary lifestyle. Many administrative workers are exp.sed daily to long hours of work in a p.olonged sitting p.sition, which can favour the onset of diabetes. The aim of the study was to determine the p.evalence and factors associated with diabetes among workers at a town hall in Benin in 2019. Methods: This was a descrip.ive cross-sectional study conducted from December 2018 to January 2019. Exhaustive recruitment was carried out. Data were collected during a face-to-face interview, using a standardized questionnaire including socio-p.ofessional factors, behavioral factors, anthrop.metric measurements, and blood glucose. Frequencies were calculated. Frequencies were comp.red using the chi-square and Fisher tests. The significance threshold was 5%. Results: A total of 85 workers were included. Their mean age was 41.55 ± 9.82 years, with a sex ratio of 6.1. = The p.evalence of diabetes was estimated at 8.2% [95% CI: 3.38 - 16.23%] and 3 of the workers knew they had diabetes. A family history of diabetes was associated with diabetes (p.= 0.032). Occup.tionally, 10.77% of p.rmanent emp.oyees had diabetes, comp.red with 0.0% of non-p.rmanent emp.oyees;12.50% of emp.oyees with at least 10 years’ seniority had diabetes, comp.red with 7.25% of those with less seniority;19.05% of emp.oyees who sp.nt at least 6 hours a day sitting at work had diabetes, comp.red with 4.69% of those who sp.nt less time sitting. Conclusion: p.eventing chronic disease in the workp.ace is p.rt of p.omoting workers’ health, and must take into account occup.tional factors such as p.olonged sitting.
