We studied the capacity of activated carbon (c1) to adsorb NO at different temperatures using a glass, high-vacuum volumetric system to obtain information on the energy characteristics of the adsorption process. Adsorption equilibrium data were analysed by the Freundlich isotherm equation using regression analysis. We employed the clausius–clapeyron relationship to calculate the isosteric heats of NO adsorption using the equilibrium data of the isotherms measured at 273 and 293 K. The amount of NO adsorbed during reversible adsorption was higher than that adsorbed during total adsorption, probably due to semiquinones formation during total adsorption, which increased both the adsorption capacity of NO and adsorbate–adsorbent interactions during reversible adsorption.

Objective： The study aimed to evaluate the genotypic profiles of c. albicans （candida albicans） sequentially isolated throughout the course of HIV infections, and to determine its MIc （minimal inhibitory concentrations） to AMB （amphotericin B）, FLc （fluconazole）, KTc （ketoconazole）, and ITc （itraconazole）. Design： samples were collected from the oral cavity of HIV-positive individuals during 4 years, with a sterilized swab. MIc was performed by using the microdilution method AFST/EUcAST. The genetic similarities within and between sequential clones of c. albicans were assessed by DNA fingerprinting using the random amplification ofpolymorphic DNA technique. Results： A total of 142 oral samples were isolated from 59 HIV-infected individuals who attempted up to five visits each, with or without symptoms of oropharyngeal candidiasis. Profile analysis revealed that yeasts isolated over sequential visits from symptomatic or asymptomatic individuals showed 78% or 87% relatedness, respectively. The degree of similarity among c. albicans was higher for isolates from colonization than for those from infection. Genetically identical c. albicans samples also formed connected subelusters in sequential visits. In regard to susceptibility profile, all isolates were susceptible to AMB, FLc, KTc, and ITc and maintained this pattern all along, no differences in MIcs of any given antifungal compound were observed for sequential c. albicans isolates. conclusions： These data suggest that genotype and susceptibility to antifimgal drugs were maintained over time in sequentially isolates of c. albicans colonization and a diverse evolutionary genetic trend in c. albicans sequentially isolated from the oral eandidiasis of HIV infected individuals.

Hepatitis c virus infection in Argentina: Burden of chronic disease

AIM: To estimate the progression of the hepatitis c virus(HcV) epidemic and measure the burden of HcVrelated morbidity and mortality. METHODS: Age- and gender-defined cohorts were used to follow the viremic population in Argentina and estimate HcV incidence, prevalence, hepatic.c.mplications, and mortality. The relative impact of two scenarios on HcV-related outcomes was assessed:(1) increased sustained virologic response(SVR); and(2) increased SVR and ***: Under scenario 1, SVR raised to 85%-95% in 2016. compared to the base case scenario, there was a 0.3% reduction in prevalent cases and liverrelated deaths by 2030. Given low treatment rates, cases of hepatocellular carcinoma and decompensated cirrhosis decreased contrast to the base case in 2030. Under scenario 2, the same increases in SVR were modeled, with gradual increases in the annual diagnosed and treated populations. This scenario decreased prevalent infections 45%, liver-related deaths 55%, liver cancer cases 60%, and decompensated cirrhosis 55%, as compared to the base case by 2030. cONcLUSION: In Argentina, cases of end stage liver disease and liver-related deaths due to HcV are still growing, while its prevalence is decreasing. Increasing in SVR rates is not enough, and increasing in the number of patients diagnosed and candidates for treatment is needed to reduce the HcV disease burden. Based on this scenario, strategies to increase diagnosis and treatment uptake must be developed to reduce HcV burden in Argentina.

We evaluated,employing a logistic regression model,the association between Helicobacter pylori infection and cirrhosis in a cohort of 106 patients(57 males;mean age,52.9 years;range,20-78 years)with chronic hepatitis c virus(HcV)from rosario,*** was confirmed by ELISA and *** status was determined by *** the 106 patients evaluated,47(44.3%)had cirrhosis.A total of 70.2%(33/47)of cirrhotic patients and 47.5%(28/59)of noncirrhotic patients were *** univariate analyses,cirrhosis was associated with age(P = 0.016)and ***-positive status(P = 0.019)but not with gender(P = 0.28)or length of infection(P = 0.35).In multivariate analysis,*** infection(P = 0.037;OR = 2.42;95%cI = 1.06-5.53)and age(P = 0.033;OR = 1.04;95%cI = 1.00-1.07)of patients remained significant and independently associated with *** conclusion,our results demonstrate an association between *** infection and cirrhosis in patients-with hepatitisc virus.

This work describes the evaluation of morpho-physiological and biochemical changes in “MD-2” micro-propagated pineapple plants (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) grown after 30 days under low light intensity (LL, greenhouse light conditions at 250 μmol·m-2·s-1) or high light intensity (HL, field light conditions at 800 μmol·m-2·s-1). Gas exchange, leaf pH, protein content and superoxide dismutase activity (SOD) (Ec 1.***.1.1) were measured every 3 h during one day. chlorophylls content and succulence index (SI) were determined at 9 h. Results showed significant differences in cO2 exchange rates, with a maximum occurring at 6 h (3.00 and 8.25 μmol cO2 m-2·s-1 for leaves under LL and HL conditions respectively). Plants under HL conditions had higher cO2 uptake and lower pH values between 0 h and 6 h respective to LL plants. The maximum pH value was attained 3 h before in HL plants. Leaf SI was increased and chlorophyll content decreased by HL conditions. SOD activity was higher in plants under HL conditions, near doubling those of LL plants at 18 h (2.8 versus 1.5 U·mg-1 Protein respectively). Both groups showed a typical cAM phenotype, but it was stronger in HL conditions, which may confer these plants with a better acclimation to transfer to the field.

In this paper we describe the potential of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for studies related to accretion flows in the strong field gravity regime around both stellar-mass and supermassive black-holes. eXTP has the unique capability of using advanced "spectral-timing-polarimetry" techniques to analyze the rapid variations with three orthogonal diagnostics of the flow and its geometry, yielding unprecedented insight into the inner accreting regions, the effects of strong field gravity on the material within them and the powerful outflows which are driven by the accretion process.
