Social media is commonly used by governments to disseminate information related to transparency and institutional promotion,but its potential for the dissemination of cultural resources is often *** research proposes a strategy for adopting social media to achieve cultural dissemination in the municipality of Lamas,Peru,which has tourism potential and has been awarded the“Best Tourism Villages”seal of the World Tourism ***,we propose a case study at a propositional exploratory *** start by determining the current state of dissemination of tangible and intangible resources,as well as the practical use of social media,through a survey of 20 *** results reveal that crafts are the most widely disseminated tangible resource in the municipality(according to 55%of officials),and intangible resources are occasionally disseminated(50%).We also find that Facebook is the only digital channel used to disseminate cultural *** this context,we formulate a strategy for adopting social media to improve cultural dissemination,which consists of six phases:(i)forming a work team,(ii)preparing a budget plan,(iii)strengthening capacities,(iv)taking inventory of cultural resources,(v)coordinating community interests and(vi)preparing a cultural dissemination *** findings can contribute to formulating public initiatives for the institutionalisation of social media in governments for the purposes of preserving,promoting and guaranteeing the accessibility of cultural heritage.

COVID-19 generates systematic alterations in humans both in active stages of infection and over time, called post-COVID syndrome. Cortisol is a hormone that is overexpressed in inflammation and cellular stress processes. Its main function is to return to physiological homeostasis, so its evaluation together with other clinical parameters can allow us to determine the degree of systemic affectation by COVID-19. Objective: To evaluate changes in clinical parameters and plasma cortisol concentrations in patients with active COVID-19 and post-COVID syndrome. Material and Methods: Healthy patients, in stages of mild infection, critical and with post-COVID syndrome, were recruited, obtaining, through clinical diagnoses and interviews, their main clinical characteristics, in addition to plasma, in which cortisol concentrations were determined using competitive ELISA. Results: The critical stage group had higher frequencies of comorbidities, clinical symptoms, as well as more altered laboratory parameters compared to the other subgroups. In the post-COVID syndrome group after the initial infection, most laboratory parameters recovered, however, several clinical symptoms remained latent over time. The determination of cortisol showed an increase in its concentration, being higher in patients in critical stage and with post-COVID syndrome. Conclusion: COVID-19 disease generates clinical alterations that trigger an increase in plasma cortisol. These alterations increase as the stages of infection become more severe and some of them remain altered in patients with post-COVID syndrome.

Natural history of cytomegalovirus infection in a series of patients diagnosed with moderate-severe ulcerative colitis

AIM： To evaluate the natural history of human cytomegalovirus （HCMV） infection in a series of 28 ulcerative colitis patients in whom the search for HCMV was positive. METHODS： A series of 85 patients with moderate-se- vere ulcerative colitis flare-up were evaluated for a HCMV search by performing a haematoxylin and eosin stain, immunohistochemical assay and nested polymerase chain reaction on rectal biopsies. Among 85 screened patients （19 of whom were steroid resistant/dependant）, 28 were positive for HCMV; after remission the patients were followed up clinically and histologically. RESULTS： Among the 22 patients with complete follow- up, in 8 （36%） patients HCMV-DNA persisted in the in- testinal specimens. Among the HCMV positive patients, 4 （50%） experienced at least one moderate-severeflare-up of colitis without evidence of peripheral HCMV. Among the 14 HCHV negative patients, 3 with pouches developed pouchiUs and 5 out of 11 （45%） experienced a colitis flare-up. CONCLUSION： Our preliminary results suggest that HCHV may remain in the colon afber an acute coltis flare- up despite remission; it seems that the virus is not responsible for the disease relapse.

Intramuscular vs intradermal route for hepatitis B booster vaccine in celiac children

AIM： To compare intradermal （ID） and intramuscular （IM） booster doses, which have been used in healthy and high risk subjects, such as healthcare workers, haemodialysis patients, human immunodeficiency virus patients, and renal transplant recipients unresponsive to initial hepatitis B vaccination, in celiac individuals. METHODS： We conducted our study on 58 celiac pa- tients, vaccinated in the first year of life, whose blood analysis had showed the absence of protective hepati- tis B virus （HBV） antibodies. All patients had received the last vaccine injection at least one year before study enrolment and they had been on a gluten free diet for at least 1 year. In all patients we randomly performed an HBV vaccine booster dose by ID or IM route. Thirty celiac patients were revaccinated with recombinant hepatitis B vaccine （Engerix B） 2 μg by the ID route, while 28 celiac patients were revaccinated with Engerix B 10 μg by the IM route. Four weeks after every boost- er dose, the anti-hepatitis B surface （HBs） antibody titer was measured by an enzyme-linked immune- adsorbent assay. We performed a maximum of three booster doses in patients with no anti-HBs antibodies after the first or the second vaccine dose. The cut off value for a negative anti-HBs antibody titer was 10 IU/*** with values between 10 and 100 IU/L were considered ＂low responders＂ while patients with an antibody titer higher than 1000 IU/L were considered ＂high responders＂. RESULTS： No significant difference in age, gender, du- ration of illness, and years of gluten intake was found between the two groups. We found a high percent- age of ＂responders＂ after the first booster dose （ID = 76.7%, IM = 78.6%） and a greater increase after the third dose （ID = 90%, IM = 96.4%） of vaccine in both groups. Background Primary progressive aphasia(PPA)is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a gradual,insidious and progressive loss of language abilities,with naming difficulties being an early and persistent impairment common to all three *** the absence of effective pharmacological treatments and given the progressive nature of the disorder,in the past few decades,many studies have investigated the effectiveness of language training to minimize the functional impact of word-finding difficulties in daily *** body We review language treatments most commonly used in clinical practice among patients with different variants of PPA,with a focus on the enhancement of spoken and written naming *** of gains to the ability to name untrained stimuli or to other language abilities and the maintenance of these results over time are also ***-eight studies were included in this literature review,identifying four main types of language treatment:a)lexical retrieval treatment,b)phonological and/or orthographic treatment,c)semantic treatment,and d)a multimodality approach ***,language training is able to induce immediate improvements of naming abilities in all variants of ***,despite the large variability among results,generalization and long-term effects can be recorded after the *** reviewed studies also suggest that one factor that determines the choice of a particular approach is the compromised components of the lexical/semantic processing *** The majority of studies have demonstrated improvements of naming abilities following language *** the progressive nature of PPA,it is essential to apply language treatment in the early stages of the disease.

Acupuncture accelerates recovery after general anesthesia: a prospective randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND： Acupuncture anesthesia was created in the 1950＇s in China and continues to be used there today during most major surgeries. It is widely used in China for such complex operations as brain heart, and abdominal surgery. It is popular in China because it is economical, practical, and beneficial to the patients. With acupuncture anesthesia there is less bleeding during surgery and there is also quicker post-operative recovery. OBJECTIVE： This randomized prospective study aims at comparing the effect of two acupoints （Yongquan, KI1 and Renzhong, DU26） with sham acupuncture and no acupuncture on the time to recovery of consciousness after general anesthesia by means of the Bispectral Index monitor （BIS） DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： This is a prospective randomized controlled study. We randomly assigned 50 patients to 5 groups during recovery from surgical anesthesia. Four groups had acupuncture on KI1 （group A）, DU26 （groups B）, both KI1 and DU26 （group C）, and sham points （group D）, and one had no acupuncture （group E）. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Bispectral Index （BIS）, time to spontaneous eye opening, time to tracheal extubation, and time to following commands were measured as the main outcome measures RESULTS： Time to spontaneous eye opening differed among groups （P=0.002）, as well as time to tracheal extubation （P〈0.000 1） and time to following commands （P=0.000 6）. BIS values differed significantly among groups both 5 and 10 min after the end of anesthesia （P〈0.000 1 and P=0.000 4, respectively）. BIS values of groups D and E were lower than those of the other groups and those of group C were higher. The same pattern was observed also 15 and 30 rain after the end of anesthesia although the difference among groups was not significant at these time points （P=0.164 and P=0.104 respectively）. Hepatitis B vaccine by intradermal route in non responder patients:An update

Vaccination is the main prophylactic measure to reduce the mortality caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in healthy subjects since the immune response to hepatitis B recombinant vaccination occurs in over 90% of general population. Individuals who develop an anti-HBs titer less than 10 mIU/mL after primary vaccination cycle are defined “no responders”. Many factors could cause a non response to the HBV vaccination, such as administration of the vaccine in buttocks, impaired vaccine storage conditions, drug abuse, smoking, infections and obesity. Moreover there are some diseases, like chronic kidney disease, human immunodeficiency virus infection, chronic liver disease, celiac disease, thalassaemia, type I diabetes mellitus, down’s syndrome and other forms of mental retardation that are characterized by a poorer response to HBV vaccination than healthy subjects. To date it is still unclear how to treat this group of patients at high risk of hepatitis B infection. Recent studies seem to indicate that the administration of HBV recombinant vaccine by the intradermal route is very effective and could represent a more useful strategy than intramuscular route. This review focuses on the use of anti hepatitis B vaccine by intradermal route as alternative to conventional intramuscular vaccine in all non responder patients. A comprehensive review of the literature using PubMed database, with appropriate terms, was undertaken for articles in English published since 1983. The literature search was undertaken in September 2013.

Background:Parkinson’s Disease(PD)with mild cognitive impairment(MCI)(PD-MCI)represents one of the most dreaded complications for patients with PD and is associated with a higher risk of developing *** transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)has been demonstrated to improve motor and non-motor symptoms in PD,to date,no study has investigated the effects of tDCS on Theory of Mind(ToM),i.e.,the ability to understand and predict other people’s behaviours,in ***:In this randomized,double-blind,sham-controlled study,we applied active tDCS over the medial frontal cortex(MFC)to modulate ToM performance in twenty patients with *** matched healthy controls(HC)were also enrolled and were asked to perform the ToM task without receiving ***:In the patients with PD-MCI,i)ToM performance was worse than that in the HC,ii)ToM abilities were poorer in those with fronto-executive difficulties,and iii)tDCS over the MFC led to significant shortening of latency for ToM ***:We show for the first time that active tDCS over the MFC enhances ToM in patients with PD-MCI,and suggest that non-invasive brain stimulation could be used to ameliorate ToM deficits observed in these patients.

Lowering nitrogen inputs is a major goal for sustainable *** the present study,a set of 10 Solanum melongena introgression lines(ILs)developed using Solanum incanum as the exotic donor parent were grown under two nitrogen fertilization doses supplied with the irrigation system:1)8.25 mmol·L-1NH4NO3,corresponding to the high nitrogen treatment(HN),and 2)no external nitrogen supply,corresponding to the low nitrogen treatment(LN).Twenty traits,including plant growth and yield parameters,fruit size and morphology,nitrogen and carbon content in leaf and fruit,and phenolics content in fruit,were *** aim was to select of potential materials for eggplant breeding under low N inputs,as well as to identify and locate putative QTLs associated with the traits *** significant differences were observed between the soil characteristics of the HN and LN treatments,except for nitrogen and iron content,which was slightly lower in the HN,probably as a consequence of higher nutrient removal from soil by plants in the latter *** of variance showed that lowering nitrogen inputs did not significantly affect the final yield,fruit morphology,size and phenolics *** agronomic traits were highly and positively correlated with each other under both treatments,as well as total phenolics with chlorogenic acid *** assessment of the differences between each IL and the recipient parent resulted in the identification of 36 QTLs associated with most of the traits—12 were specific to the HN,17 specific to the LN,and 7 were stable across *** introgressed fragment of *** generally had a negative effect on the trait,except for QTLs for fruit dry matter,for fruit length on chromosome 10 under the HN,and for fruit pedicel length on chromosome 9 under the *** increase over AN-S-26 of the allele of *** for the QTLs detected ranged between-73.98% and 26.03% in HN and-73.67%and 34.43% in *** findings provide useful tools fo

Aminoguanidine impedes human pancreatic tumor growth and metastasis development in nude mice

AIM:To study the action of aminoguanidine on pancreatic cancer xenografts in relation to cell proliferation,apoptosis,redox status and ***:Xenografts of PANC-1 cells were developed in nude mice. The animals were separated into two groups:control and aminoguanidine treated. Tumor growth,survival and appearance of metastases were determined in vivo in both groups. Tumors were excised and ex vivo histochemical studies were performed. Cell growth was assessed by Ki-67 expression. Apoptosis was studied by intratumoral expression of B cell lymphoma-2 protein (Bcl-2) family proteins and Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase biotin-dUTP Nick End Labeling (Tunel). Redox status was evaluated by the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS),catalase,copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD),manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Finally,vascularization was determined by Massons trichromic staining,and by VEGF and CD34 ***:Tumor volumes after 32 d of treatment by aminoguanidine (AG) were significantly lower than in control mice (P < 0.01). Median survival of AG mice was significantly greater than control animals (P < 0.01). The appearance of both homolateral and contralateral palpable metastases was significantly delayed in AG group. Apoptotic cells,intratumoral vascularization (trichromic stain) and the expression of Ki-67,Bax,eNOS,CD34,VEGF,catalase,CuZnSOD and MnSOD were diminished in AG treated mice (P < 0.01),while the expression of Bcl-2 and GPx did not ***:The antitumoral action of aminoguanidine is associated with decreased cell proliferation,reduced angiogenesis,and reduced expression of antioxidant enzymes.
