Background Percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion(LAAO)requires puncture of the interatrial *** immediate hemodynamic effects of iatrogenic atrial septal defects(iAsD)after LAAO have not been examined so *** aimed at evaluat-ing these effects through invasive measurements of pressure and oxygen ***,we assessed the incidence of per-sistent iAsD at three *** Forty-eight patients scheduled for percutaneous LAAO were prospectively included in the *** and oxygen saturation were measured(1)in the right atrium(RA)before transseptal puncture,(2)in the left atrium(LA)through the transseptal sheath after transseptal puncture,(3)in the LA after removal of introducer sheath,and(4)in the RA after removal of introducer *** echocardiography was performed at three months to detect *** Pressure in the RA increased significantly after removing the introducer sheath(P=0.034),whereas no difference was found in oxygen saturation in the RA(P=0.623).Pressure measurement in the LA showed no significant difference after re-moving the introducer sheath(P=0.718).Oxygen saturation in the LA also showed no significant difference(P=0.129).Follow-up transesophageal echocardiogram at 3 months revealed a persistent iAsD in 4 patients(8.5%).CONCLUsIONs Our study suggests that iAsD after percutaneous LAAO does not result in significant shunts directly after the procedure,although a significant increase of mean right atrial pressure can be *** iAsDs after percutaneous LAAO seem to be relatively rare at three months.

The Durkan Complex is a tectonic element of the makran Accretionary Prism(sE Iran)that includes fragments of Late Cretaceous *** this paper,the results of map-to micro-scale structural studies of the western Durkan Complex are presented with the aim to describe its structural and tectonometamorphic *** Durkan Complex consists of several tectonic units bordered by mainly NNW-striking *** main deformation phases(D_(1),D_(2),and D_(3))are distinguished and likely occurred from the Late Cretaceous to the miocene–Pliocene.D_(1) is characterized by sub-isoclinal to close and W-verging folds associated with an axial plane foliation and shear zone along the fold *** phase records the accretion of fragments of the seamount within the makran at blueschist facies metamorphic conditions(160–300℃ and 0.6–1.2 GPa).D_(2) is characterized by open to close folds with subhorizontal axial plane that likely developed during the exhumation of previously accreted seamount *** upper Paleocene–Eocene siliciclastic succession unconformably sealed the D_(1) and D_(2) structures and is,in turn,deformed by W-verging thrust faults typical of D_(3).The latter likely testifies for a miocene–Pliocene tectonic reworking of the accreted seamount fragments with the activation of out of sequence *** results shed light on the mechanism of accretion of seamount materials in the accretionary prisms,suggesting that seamount slope successions favour the localization and propagation of the basal dé*** study further confirms that the physiography of the subducting plates plays a significant role in the tectonic evolution of the subduction complexes.

Aim： To investigate whether oral treatment with D-004, a lipid extract of the Cuban royal palm fruit, produces antioxidant effects in the prostate tissue of normal and testosterone （T）-treated rats. methods： In our first experiment, normal rats were distributed into five groups： one group treated with the vehicle and four groups treated with D-004 （100, 200, 400 or 800 mg/kg）. In our second experiment, rats were randomized into five groups： a negative control group and four T-injected groups. The latter were comprised of a positive control group treated with the vehicle, and three groups treated with D-004 （200, 400 or 800 mg/kg）. Results： In normal rats, D-004 （100-800 mg/kg） inhibited significantly and dose-dependently iron-initiated malondialdehyde （mDA） accumulation in prostate homogenates （35.7%-80.0%） vs. the controls. D-004 （200-800 mg/kg） significantly reduced baseline mDA and carbonyl groups in prostate homogenates of normal rats to approximately 80% and 50%, respectively, and totally （100%） in T-treated rats. Conclusion： Oral treatment with D-004 reduced mDA and carbonyl groups dose-dependently and markedly in normal and T-injected rats. These findings show that D-004 given at doses effective to prevent prostate hyperplasia also produces antioxidant effects in the prostate tissue.

AIm:To study the action of aminoguanidine on pancreatic cancer xenografts in relation to cell proliferation,apoptosis,redox status and ***:Xenografts of PANC-1 cells were developed in nude mice. The animals were separated into two groups:control and aminoguanidine treated. Tumor growth,survival and appearance of metastases were determined in vivo in both groups. Tumors were excised and ex vivo histochemical studies were performed. Cell growth was assessed by Ki-67 expression. Apoptosis was studied by intratumoral expression of B cell lymphoma-2 protein (Bcl-2) family proteins and Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase biotin-dUTP Nick End Labeling (Tunel). Redox status was evaluated by the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOs),catalase,copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnsOD),manganese superoxide dismutase (mnsOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Finally,vascularization was determined by massons trichromic staining,and by VEGF and CD34 ***:Tumor volumes after 32 d of treatment by aminoguanidine (AG) were significantly lower than in control mice (P median survival of AG mice was significantly greater than control animals (P molateral and contralateral palpable metastases was significantly delayed in AG group. Apoptotic cells,intratumoral vascularization (trichromic stain) and the expression of Ki-67,Bax,eNOs,CD34,VEGF,catalase,CuZnsOD and mnsOD were diminished in AG treated mice (P ssion of Bcl-2 and GPx did not ***:The antitumoral action of aminoguanidine is associated with decreased cell proliferation,reduced angiogenesis,and reduced expression of antioxidant enzymes.

The phylogeny of extant menispermaceae (Ranunculales) is reconstructed based on DNA sequences of two chloroplast genes (rbcL and atpB) from 94 species belonging to 56 genera. Fossilized endocarps represent 34 genera. The positions of these are inferred using 30 morphological characters and the molecular phylogeny as a backbone constraint. Nine of the thirteen nodes that are each dated by a fossil are used as calibration points for the estimates of molecular divergence times. BEAsT is used to estimate stem age (121.2 myr) and crown age (105.4 myr) for menispermaceae. This method does not require an input tree topology and can also account for rate heterogeneity among lineages. The sensitivity of these estimates to fossil constraints is then evaluated by a cross-validation procedure. The estimated origin for menispermaceae is dated to the mid-Jurassic if the customary maximum age of 125 myr for eudicots is not implemented. All constraints when used alone failed to estimate node ages in some parts of the tree. Fossils from the Palaeocene and Eocene impose strict constraints. Likewise, the use of Prototinomiscium as a dating constraint for menispermaceae appears to be a conservative approach.

Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation for nickel-containing pyrrhotite tailings

X-ray powder diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy,thermogravimetry,differential scanning calorimetry,and mass spectrometry have been used to study the products of nickel-containing pyrrhotite tailings oxidation by oxygen in the *** kinetic triplets of oxidation,namely,activation energy(E_(a)),pre-exponential factor(A),and reaction model(f(α))being a function of the conversion degree(α),were adjusted by regression *** case of a two-stage process representation,the first step proceeds under autocatalysis control and ends atα=*** kinetic triplet in the first step is E_(a)=262.2 kJ/mol,lg A=14.53 s^(−1),and f(α)=(1-α)^(4.11)(1+1.51×10^(-4)α).For the second step,the process is controlled by the two-dimensional diffusion of the reactants in the layer of oxidation *** kinetic triplet in the second step isЕa=215.0 kJ/mol,lg A=10.28 s^(−1),and f(α)=(-ln(1-α))^(-1).The obtained empirical formulae for the rate of pyrrhotite tailings oxidation reliably describe the macro-mechanism of the process and can be used to design automatization systems for roast-ing these materials.

The high-detection-sensitivity saturated-absorption cavity ring-down(sCAR)technique is extended to Lambdip spectroscopy of rovibrational molecular transitions in the near-infrared ***-comb-referenced sub-Doppler saturation measurements,performed on the acetylene(ν_(1)+ν_(3)+ν_(4)←ν_(4))R(14)e line at6562 cm^(-1),are analyzed by a sCAR global line profile fitting routine,based on a specially developed theoretical *** to a conventional cavity ring-down evaluation,our approach yields dip profiles with a linewidth freed from saturation broadening effects,reduced by 40%,and a signal-to-noise ratio increased by 90%.Ultimately,an overall(statistical and systematic)fractional uncertainty as low as 7×10^(-12)is achieved for the absolute line-center *** the same time,our method is also able to accurately infer the linear(nonsaturated)behavior of the gas absorption,providing Lamb-dip-based line strength measurements with a relative uncertainty of 0.5%.
