Tomato(solanum lycopersicum)is one of the most economically important vegetables throughout the *** is one of the best studied cultivated dicotyledonous plants,often used as a model system for plant research into classical genetics,cytogenetics,molecular genetics,and molecular *** plants are affected by different pathogens such as viruses,viroids,fungi,oomycetes,bacteria,and nematodes,that reduce yield and affect product *** study of tomato as a plant-pathogen system helps to accelerate the discovery and understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying disease resistance and offers the opportunity of improving the yield and quality of their edible *** use of functional genomics has contributed to this purpose through both traditional and recently developed techniques,that allow the identification of plant key functional genes in susceptible and resistant responses,and the understanding of the molecular basis of compatible interactions during pathogen ***-generation sequencing technologies(NGs),which produce massive quantities of sequencing data,have greatly accelerated research in biological sciences and offer great opportunities to better understand the molecular networks of plant–pathogen *** this review,we summarize important research that used high-throughput RNA-seq technology to obtain transcriptome changes in tomato plants in response to a wide range of pathogens such as viruses,fungi,bacteria,oomycetes,and *** findings will facilitate genetic engineering efforts to incorporate new sources of resistance in tomato for protection against pathogens and are of major importance for sustainable plant-disease management,namely the ones relying on the plant’s innate immune mechanisms in view of plant breeding.

The systems containing EHPG, EHPG-OCH3 and EHPG-NH-Ac and Tb(Ⅲ) ions were used to study chemiluminescence (CL) and electrochemiluminescence (ECL) processes. in the CL studies the Fenton system (Fe(Ⅱ)/(Ⅲ)-H2O2) was used as a source of reactive oxygen species (ros). Kinetic CL curves and CL spectral distributions were recorded. On the basis of the results obtained, it was demonstrated that Tb(Ⅲ) acted as a sensitizer. similarly obtained CL decays in the systems of Fe(Ⅱ)/(Ⅲ)-EHPG (or its derivatives)-H2O2 and Fe(Ⅱ)/(Ⅲ)-EHPG (or its derivatives)-Tb(Ⅲ)-H2O2, independently on the Tb(Ⅲ) concentration, showed that the lanthanide ions did not influence the kinetics of the oxidation of EHPG (or its derivatives) in the Fenton systems. The CL intensity increased with the increasing concentration of Tb(Ⅲ) ions, which were the main emitters in the reaction systems. spectrophotometric and luminescent studies of the systems before and after the additions of hydrogen peroxide proved that the excitation of the lanthanide ion was a result of energy transfer from the excited products of the oxidation of EHPG or its derivatives to the uncomplexed Tb(Ⅲ) ions. ECL was generated on the surface of a nonstructural modified aluminum electrode with the use of K2s2O8, H2O2 or KN3 as coreactants in aqueous solution. in these studies we employed Al electrodes covered with a 2-4 nm layer of Al2O3 doted with Tb(Ⅲ) or Dy(Ⅲ) ions. The electrodes were polarized using cathodic and anodic pulses of various amplitude and frequency. The relative ECL efficiencies were determined as a function of electric pulse parameters, electrolyte compositions and the thickness of barrier or porous layer of the Al2O3 electrode.

AiM: To investigate the clinical impact of capsule endoscopy(CE) after an obscure gastrointestinal bleeding(OGiB) episode, focusing on diagnostic work-up, followup and predictive factors of rebleeding. METHODs: Patients who were referred to Hospital del Mar(Barcelona, spain) between 2007 and 2009 for OGiB who underwent a CE were retrospectively analyzed. Demographic data, current treatment with non-steroid antiinflammtory drugs or anticoagulant drugs, hemoglobin levels, transfusion requirements, previous diagnostic tests for the bleeding episode, as well as CE findings(significant or non-significant), work-up and patient out-comes were analyzed from electronic charts. Variables were compared by χ 2 analysis and student t test. Risk factors of rebleeding were assessed by Log-rank test, Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression model. REsULTs: There were 105 patients [45.7% women, median age of 72 years old(interquartile range 56-79)] and a median follow-up of 326 d(interquartile range 123-641) included in this study. The overall diagnostic yield of CE was 58.1%(55.2% and 63.2%, for patients with occult OGiB and overt OGiB, respectively). in 73 patients(69.5%), OGiB was resolved. Multivariate analysis showed that hemoglobin levels lower than 8 g/dL at diagnosis [hazard ratios(HR) = 2.7, 95%Ci: 1.9-6.3], patients aged 70 years and above(HR = 2.1, 95%Ci: 1.2-6.1) and significant findings in CE(HR = 2.4, 95%Ci: 1.1-5.8) were independent predictors of rebleeding. CONCLUsiON: One third of the patients presented with rebleeding after CE; risk factors were hemoglobin levels s or the presence of significant lesions.

Gastrointestinal infection is a leading cause of gut diseases attracting global health *** emerging antimicrobial resistance in enteric pathogens drives the search of viable and renewable alternatives to antibiotics for the health of both human beings and ***-forming probiotic Bacillus have received extensively interests for their multiple health benefits,including the restoration of microbiota dysbiosis and the reduction of drug-resistant *** promising benefits are mainly attributed to the activity of structurally diverse Bacillus-derived metabolites,such as antibacterial compounds,short-chain fatty acids,and other small *** metabolites show the capacity to directly target either the individual or community of bacterial pathogens,and to potentiate both host cells and gut *** better understanding of the mechanisms by which probiotic Bacillus and the metabolites modulate the metabolism of hosts and microbiota will advance the screening and development of probiotic *** this review,we discuss the interaction among probiotic Bacillus,microbiota and host,and summarize the Bacillus-derived metabolites that act as key players in such interactions,shedding light on the mechanistic understanding of probiotic Bacillus against enteric bacterial infections.

Urinary bladder cancer(UBC)is a heterogeneous disease with highly variable clinical outcomes and responses to *** some advances in the molecular understanding of UBC,this knowledge still has not been translated to the clinic in terms of improvements in the prognosis and treatment of *** urinary bladder tumor models representative of the human disease in terms of histology and behavior are needed to study factors involved in tumor initiation,progression and ***,accurate model systems would facilitate identification of new therapeutic targets and predictive markers that could lead to optimization of existing therapies and development of new *** established cancer cell lines derived from human urinary bladder tumors representing different grades and stages have been used as experimental models for UBC *** cell lines reflect some of the genetic and morphologic alterations observed in human urothelial carcinoma and serve as simplified models to study the behavior of cancer cells in ***,their translational potential is limited due to the artificial conditions,in which the cells are maintained,grown and *** models offer a more complex and realistic model for the establishment,development,and progression of tumors as well as to evaluate new therapeutic *** the years,the authors'group has worked with several UBC cell lines,established and characterized chemically induced UBC models,and patient-derived xenografts *** this study,the authors will provide a summary of the UBC models developed by their group,analyze their translational potential and weaknesses,and define areas that remain to be explored.
