Retting has been employed to extract natural fibers from agricultural wastes as a biological and cost-effective approach for *** its global abundance,banana pseudo-stem is a promising agro-waste for lignocellulosic fiber *** this study,fibers were extracted from the pseudo-stems after being pre-treated under four conditions using seawater at room temperature for up to 35 d Bacterial isolation from the fresh seawater sample and screening for ligninolytic ability were *** load as well as laccase and manganese peroxidase enzyme activity profile assay during the retting duration were *** transform infrared(FT-IR)and X-day diffraction(XRD)analyses were also examined for both pre-treated and untreated extracted *** results shows that six out of the eight bacterial isolates had the ability to degrade *** treatments(Raw stem+Raw seawater)and(Autoclaved stem+Raw seawater)recorded the highest viable bacterial load of 9.24×102 and 4.46×102 CFU,respectively,on the 14th day of the retting ***,the highest laccase and manganese peroxidase enzymes activity was recorded for(Raw stem+Raw seawater)and(Autoclaved stem+Raw seawater)treatments in the second to the third *** FT-IR spectra of the pre-treated fibers revealed relative reductions in peaks attributed to polysaccharides and other amorphous substances for all retting *** XRD diffractogram revealed that the crystallinity index(CI)of pre-treated fibers increased in all seawater retting treatment ***,the CI for fibers pre-treated under enzymatic conditions were enhanced even after five *** analysis for selected bacterial isolates showed homology to sequences of Bacillus velezensis,Shewanella sp.L8–5,and Citrobacter amalonaticus and Bacillus subtilis j8 *** these findings,it was suggested that physical,biological,and chemical actions were collectively involved in the seawater retting process of banana ps

Fire smoke movement of multi-floor and multi-room (MFMR) fire was studied at the model test building in State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS). The ingredient, temperature, air pressure difference and air velocity of smoke were measured and analyzed. Meanwhile, the hazard of smoke ingredient to exposed occupants was analyzed based on the national standard, Occupational Exposure Limit for hazardous Agents in the Workplace (GBZ2-2002). The experimental results showed that the maximum temperature difference in MFMR fire was located along the vertical height from the fire source. With the spreading and diffusion of smoke, the temperature of smoke layer would tend to be no difference. In the fire of woodpile and kerosene, the main smoke ingredients such as SO 2 , CO and CO 2 would first exceed human’s average physiological limit, while smoke ingredients such as NO and NO 2 would come behind. Because of the higher fluctuation range and frequency of air pressure difference of smoke in multi-layer building fire, the fire smoke would spread around everywhere of the passageway and made the human evacuation more difficult.

Tensile properties and fracture behavior of Ti_2AlNb based alloys at room temperature

The tensile mechanical properties and fracture behaviors of Ti 22Al 20Nb 7Ta alloys were studied at room temperature. Three typical microstructures of Ti 2AlNb based alloys were obtained by combination of thermal mechanical processing and heat treat ment. They are: 1) lath mixture of O + B 2 with remaining β grain boundaries and α 2 phase; 2) equiaxed O phase in B 2 matrix; 3) fine lath mixture of O + B 2 without remaining β grain boundaries. It is shown that the microstructure obviously affects the tensile properties of Ti 2AlNb based alloys. The microstructure of fine lath mixture of O + B 2 without remaining β grain boundaries has good combination of yield stress and ductility, while the microstructure with lath mixture of O + B 2 with remaining β grain boundaries and α 2 phase has low yield stress and elongation. The fracture mode was also controlled by the microstructure of Ti 2AlNb based alloys. By means of SEM, it was found that the dominated fracture mode of microstructure with lath mixture of O + B 2 with remained β grain boundary and α 2 phase was intergranular, and the fracture mode of the other two microstructures was mainly transgranular.

Professor LI Ding, also named Yang-yuan, male, han nationality, was born in Yongkang County, Zhejiang Province. he started to learn medicine from LIU Min-shu in Shanghai after the anti-Japanese war. In 1954, he began to work in the clinic of Shanghai health Bureau （known as the No 5 Clinic later）. In 1956, he started to teach basic theory and acupuncture in Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM）. After that, he worked as an acupunctudst in the No 5 Clinic and Longhua hospital. his positions included head of the Acupuncture Teaching ＆ Research room, head of the Acupuncture Literature room, member of China Association of Acupuncture ＆ Moxibustion and vice director of Research Society of Acupuncture Literature. In 1982, he was appointed by the Ministry of health as the chief editor of Science of Meridians. In 1991, he was appointed by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine to be a member of China International Acupuncture Examination Committee and chief editor of the acupuncture reference book Acupuncture Science. Since Oct. 1992, Prof. LI Ding has deserved the Special Allowance by the State Council. Currently, he is a member of the Expertise Commission of the University.

Orientational domains at room temperature in orthorhombic perovskite La 0.33 Ca 0.67 MnO 3 were studied by group theory and observed systematically using transmission electron microscopy. There are six orientational variants ( A, A', B,B', C and C' ) in orthorhombic perovskite La 0.33 Ca 0.67 MnO 3. Their orthorhombic b O directions are parallel to the a P, b P and c P directions of the cubic prototypic perovskite, respectively. In each case there are two orientational variants (e.g., A and A' ) with their a O and c O axes interchanged. Among the possible 15 boundaries between these 6 variants there are only two types of domain boundaries: (1) m boundaries C'/C, A'/A, and B'/B. (2) m boundaryies C'/A, C'/A', C'/B, C'/B', C/A, C/A', C/B, C/B', B'/A, B'/A', B/A, and B/A' .

A novel architecture of motion estimation(ME) based on improved normalized partial distortion search is proposed to meet three primary requirements for real-time video encoding,which are low-power,lowbandwidth and high area utilization *** ME engine supports both normalized partial distortion search and adaptive search window *** former can reduce the computational complexity of ME to save power and area;the latter can avoid unnecessary accessing the external memory to lower the data *** proposed engine has been implemented with UMC 90nm CMOS *** implementation results show that,compared with traditional engines,the engine can achieve significant improvements of the hardware efficiency and the power efficiency respectively with a little throughput compromise.

Amorphous magnetic alloy powders were prepared from bulk metallic glasses Fe74Cr2Mo2Sn2P10Si4B4C2 with supercooled liq-uid region of 32 K by water *** magnetic powder core precursor was produced from a mixture of the amorphous alloy powder with addition of insulation and bonding materials by mold compacting at room *** annealing the core precursor,the amorphous magnetic core exhibits superior magnetic properties as compared with molypermalloy powder *** initial permeability up to 1 Mhz was about 80,the flux density at 300 Oe was 1.06 T and the core loss at 100 khz for Bm=0.1 T was only 329 kW/*** ultra-low core loss is attributed to the combination of relatively high resistivity and the amorphous structure of the Fe-based amorphous *** the outstanding magnetic properties,the Fe-based amorphous magnetic powder core had a much lower cost which renders the powder cores a potential candidate for a variety of industrial applications.

Developing a biomaterial for wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(GO)were embedded in cast films based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined for wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the fabricated films including X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaffold weight decreases slightly to 98.6%after raising the temperature from room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of the surface of the modified PCL which shows high biocompatibility.
