New scoring system for the evaluation obstructive degrees based on computed tomography for obstructive colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND The degree of obstruction plays an important role in decision-making for obstructive colorectal cancer(OCRC).The existing assessment still relies on the colorectal obstruction scoring system(CROSS)which is based on a comprehensive analysis of patients’complaints and eating *** data collection relies on subjective descriptions and lacks objective ***,a scoring system for the evaluation of computed tomography-based obstructive degree(CTOD)is urgently required for *** To explore the relationship between CTOD and CROSS and to determine whether CTOD could affect the short-term and long-term *** Of 173 patients were *** was obtained using k-means,the ratio of proximal to distal obstruction,and the proportion of nonparenchymal areas at the site of *** was integrated with the CROSS to analyze the effect of emergency intervention on ***-term and long-term outcomes were compared between the *** CTOD severe obstruction(CTOD grade 3)was an independent risk factor[odds ratio(OR)=3.390,95%confidence interval(CI):1.340-8.570,P=0.010]via multivariate analysis of short-term outcomes,while CROSS grade was *** the CTOD-CROSS grade system,for the non-severe obstructive(CTOD 1-2 to CROSS 1-4)group,the complication rate of emergency interventions was significantly higher than that of non-emergency interventions(71.4%vs 41.8%,P=0.040).The postoperative pneumonia rate was higher in the emergency intervention group than in the non-severe obstructive group(35.7%vs 8.9%,P=0.020).However,CTOD grade was not an independent risk factor of overall survival and progression-free *** CTOD was useful in preoperative decision-making to avoid unnecessary emergency interventions and complications.

Thymus is a primary lymphoid organ, able to generate mature T cells that eventually colonize secondary lymphoid organs, and is therefore essential for peripheral T cell renewal. Recent data showed that normal thymocyte export can be altered by several influence factors including several chemokines, sphingosinel-phosphate （S1P）, transcription factors such as Foxjl, Kruppel-like transcription factor 2 （KLF2） and antigen stimulation, etc. In this review, we summarized the recent reports about study strategies, influence factors and possible molecular mechanisms in thymic output. High-throughput Screening of the Enantioselectivity of Hyperthermophilic Mutant Esterases from Archaeon Aeropyrum pernix K1 for Resolution of (R,S)-2-Octanol Acetate

To identify the desired hypertherrnophilic variants within a mutant esterase library for the resolution of （R, S）-2- octanol acetate, a simple, reliable, and versatile method was developed in this study. We built a screening strategy including two steps, first we selected agar plate with substrate to screen the enzymatic activity; secondly we used a pH indicator to screen the enantioselectivity. This method could rapidly detect favorable mutants with high activity and enantioselectivity. A total of 96. 2% of tedious screening work can be precluded using this screening strategy. It is an effective screening for alkyl ester and can be applied to relative screening researches. The four improved mutants were screened from the mutant esterase library. Their enantioselectivities, activities, and structures were investigated at different temperatures.

Micro-positron emission tomography imaging of angiogenesis based on ^(18)F-RGD for assessing liver metastasis of colorectal cancer

Background:Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging is a non-invasive method to visualize and quantify the tumor *** study aimed to explore the feasibility of ^(18)F-AIF-NOTA-E[PEG_(4-c)(RGDfk)]_(2) (denoted as ^(18)F-RGD) PET quantitative parameters to distinguish the angiogenesis in colorectal cancer (CRC) mice which has different metastatic ***:Twenty Lo Vo and twenty LS174T of CRC liver metastases animal models were established by implantation of human CRC cell lines via intrasplenic ***-based micro-PET imaging of animal model was performed and the uptake of ^(18)F-RGD tracer in the tumor tissues was quantified as tumor-to-liver maximum or mean standardized uptake value (SUVmax or SUVmean) *** correlation was used to analyze the relationship between radioactive parameters and tumor ***:The SUVmax and SUVmean ratios of Lo Vo model were significantly higher than those of LS174T in both liver metastasis and primary tumor lesions (P<0.05).A significant difference was observed in both vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Ki67 expressions between Lo Vo and LS174T primary tumors (P<0.05).The tumor-to-liver SUVmax or SUVmean ratio of ^(18)F-RGD showed a moderate correlation with VEGF expression (r=0.5700,P=0.001 and r=0.6657,P<0.001,respectively),but the SUVmean ration showed a weak correlation with Ki67 expression (r=0.3706,P<0.05).The areas under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of ^(18)F-RGD SUVmean ratio,SUVmax ratio for differentiating Lo Vo from LS174T tumor were 0.801 and 0.759,***:The tumor-to-liver SUVmean ratio of ^(18)F-RGD was a promising image parameter for the process of monitoring tumor angiogenesis in CRC xenograft mice model.

The conversion of perhydropolysilazane(PHPS)to silica at low temperature is beneficial for its application on thermally vulnerable *** this work,it is demonstrated that(3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane(APTES)has high catalytic efficiency for the low temperature conversion of PHPS and the catalytic mechanism of APTES was *** influence of temperatu re and humidity on the catalytic conversion process was investigated,and it was found that PHPS can be rapidly converted to silica in 10 min at 80℃with relative humidity of 90%.The achieved silica is mainly composed of SiNO_(3)/SiO_(3)OH and SiO_(4)structure with O/Si of 1.74 and N content of 1%.As an approach to prepare inorganic coating,the low-temperature conversion method achieves a silica coating with low volume shrinkage of 0.86%,low roughness of R_(a)=0.293 nm,high nanoindentation hardness of 3.62 GPa and modulus of 30.06 GPa,which exhibits high potentials as protective coating for va rious materials even those vulnerable to high temperature.

UNSTEADY INTERMITTENT FLOW IN A ROTATING CURVED PIPE

The effects of rotation and intermittent frequency on the flow transition ofsecondary flow and, main flow were examined in detail. Certain hitherto unknown flow patterns werefound. A numerical study was performed to study the characteristics of unsteady intermittent flow ina rotating curved pipe. Due to the rotation, both the Coriolis force and the centrifugal forcecould contribute to the unsteady intermittent flow and some complicated phenomena can be found. Theresults indicate that the unsteady intermittent flow are mainly characterized by five parameters:the Dean number Dn, the curvature κ, the maximal force ratio F (of the Coriolis force to thecentrifugal force in a cycle), the intermittent frequency parameter η (the ratio of a pulslatingtime to the cycle period), and the Womersley number α. Present works shows the natures of theunsteady intermittent flow in a rotating curved pipe.

Lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio effectively predicts survival outcome of patients with obstructive colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND Obstructive colorectal cancer(OCC)is always accompanied by severe complications,and the optimal strategy for patients with OCC remains *** from emergency surgery(ES),self-expandable metal stents(SEMS)as a bridge to surgery(BTS),could increase the likelihood of primary ***,the stent failure and related complications might give rise to a high recurrence *** studies have focused on the indications for either method,and the relationship between preoperative inflammation indexes and the prognosis of OCC is still *** To explore the indications for ES and BTS in OCCs based on preoperative inflammation *** One hundred and twenty-eight patients who underwent ES or BTS from 2008 to 2015 were *** operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was used to define the optimal preoperative inflammation index and its cutoff ***–Meier analyses and Cox proportional hazards models were applied to assess the association between the preoperative inflammation indexes and the survival outcomes[overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS)].Stratification analysis was performed to identify the subgroups that would benefit from ES or *** OS and DFS were comparable between the ES and BTS groups(P>0.05).ROC curve analysis showed derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(dNLR)as the optimal biomarker for the prediction of DFS in ES(P<0.05).Lymphocyte-tomonocyte ratio(LMR)was recommended for BTS with regard to OS and DFS(P<0.05).dNLR was related to stoma construction(P=0.001),pneumonia(P=0.054),and DFS(P=0.009)in *** was closely related to lymph node invasion(LVI)(P=0.009),OS(P=0.020),and DFS(P=0.046)in the BTS *** was an independent risk factor for ES in both OS(P=0.032)and DFS(P=0.016).LMR affected OS(P=0.053)and DFS(P=0.052)in the BTS *** could differentiate the OS between the ES and BTS groups(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Preoperative dNLR and LMR could predict OS and DFS in pat

Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is the most efficient method to grow large-area two dimensional (2D) transition metal dichiacogenides (TMDCs) in high *** molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and seed-assistant are the mostly selected 2D TMDC and growth strategy for such CVD processes,*** the advantages of seed catalysts in facilitating the nucleation,achieving higher yield and better repeatability,as well as their effects on the morphologies of as-grown MoS2 have been studied,the influence of seeding promoters on both optical and electrical properties of as-grown monolayer MoS2 is not known comprehensively,which is indeed critical for understanding fundamental physics and developing practical application of such emerging 2D *** this report,we systematically investigated the effect of different seeding promoters on the properties of CVD-grown monolayer *** is found that different seed molecules lead to different impacts on the optical and electrical properties of as-grown monolayer *** three different seed catalysts (perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid tetrapotassium salt (PTAS),copper phthalocyanine (CuPc),and crystal violet (CV)),PTAS performs better in obtaining large area monolayer MoS2 with good optical quality and high electrical mobility than the other *** work gives a guide for modifying the properties of as-grown monolayer MoS2 and other 2D transition metal dichalcogenides in seeding promoters-assisted synthesis process.

Global Impact and Balancing Act:Deciphering the Effect of Fluorination on B 1s Binding Energies in Fluorinated h‑BN Nanosheets

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)is an important characterization tool in the pursuit of controllable fluorination of two-dimensional hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN).However,there is a lack of clear spectral interpretation,and seemingly conflicting measurements *** discern the structure−spectroscopy relation,we performed a comprehensive first-principles study on the boron 1s edge XPS of fluorinated h-BN(F-BN)*** gradually introducing 1−6 fluorine atoms into different boron or nitrogen sites,we created various F-BN structures with doping ratios ranging from 1 to 6%.Our calculations reveal that fluorines landed at boron or nitrogen sites exert competitive effects on the B 1s binding energies(BEs),leading to red or blue shifts in different *** calculations affirmed the hypothesis that fluorination affects 1s BEs of all borons in theπ-conjugated system,opposing the transferability from h-BN to ***,we observe that BE generally increases with higher fluorine concentration when both borons and nitrogens are nonexclusively *** findings provide critical insights into how fluorination affects boron’s 1s BEs,contributing to a better understanding of fluorination functionalization processes in h-BN and its potential applications in materials science.
