BACKGROUND Previous cellular studies have demonstrated that elevated expression of Cx43 promotes the degradation of cyclin E1 and inhibits cell proliferation through ***,reduced expression results in a loss of this capacity to facilitate cyclin E *** ubiquitination and degradation of cyclin E1 may be associated with phosphorylation at specific sites on the protein,with Cx43 potentially enhancing this process by facilitating the phosphorylation of these critical *** To investigate the correlation between expression of Cx43,SKP1/Cullin1/F-box(SCF)FBXW7,p-cyclin E1(ser73,thr77,thr395)and clinicopathological indexes in colon *** Expression levels of Cx43,SCFFBXW7,p-cyclin E1(ser73,thr77,thr395)in 38 clinical colon cancer samples were detected by immunohistochemistry and were analyzed by statistical methods to discuss their *** Positive rate of Cx43,SCFFBXW7,p-cyclin E1(Ser73),p-cyclin E1(Thr77)and p-cyclin E1(Thr395)in detected samples were 76.32%,76.32%,65.79%,5.26%and 55.26%*** expressions of these proteins were not related to the tissue type,degree of tissue differentiation or lymph node ***43 and SCFFBXW7(r=0.749),p-cyclin E1(Ser73)(r=0.667)and p-cyclin E1(Thr395)(r=0.457),SCFFBXW7 and p-cyclin E1(Ser73)(r=0.703)and p-cyclin E1(Thr395)(0.415)were correlated in colon cancer(P<0.05),and expressions of the above proteins were positively correlated in colon *** Cx43 may facilitate the phosphorylation of cyclin E1 at the Ser73 and Thr195 sites through its interaction with SCFFBXW7,thereby influencing the ubiquitination and degradation of cyclin E1.

BN/SiBCN light-leakage-proof coatings of silica optical fiber for long term sensors at high temperatures

SiBCN and BN/SiBCN light-leakage-proof coatings were prepared on silica optical fibers for sensing applications at high *** electron microscopy was used to characterize the surface morphology and microstructure of the coated *** and optical properties of the coated fiber were characterized by Raman,optical and tensile *** with the original fiber,the tensile strength of Si BCN and BN/Si BCN coated fiber show an increase of about 60%and 90%at room temperature,*** addition,the tensile strength of BN/Si BCN coated silica optical fiber was increased by about 42%at 700°*** has been found that the improvement of the strength of BN/Si BCN coated silica optical fiber is related to the healing of defects and residual compressive stress in *** the light transmittance performance of the coated fiber,it was found that BN/Si BCN double coating could be an ideal total reflection solution to protect silica optical fiber from light leakage during high temperature sensing operation.

Postnatal development of rat retina:a continuous observation and comparison between the organotypic retinal explant model and in vivo development

The organotypic retinal explant culture has been established for more than a decade and offers a range of unique advantages compared with in vivo experiments and cell ***,the lack of systematic and continuous comparison between in vivo retinal development and the organotypic retinal explant culture makes this model controversial in postnatal retinal development ***,we aimed to verify the feasibility of using this model for postnatal retinal development studies by comparing it with the in vivo *** this study,we showed that postnatal retinal explants undergo normal development,and exhibit a consistent structure and timeline with retinas in ***,we used SOX2 and PAX6 immunostaining to identify retinal progenitor *** then examined cell proliferation and migration by immunostaining with Ki-67 and doublecortin,***-67-and doublecortin-positive cells decreased in both in vivo and explants during postnatal retinogenesis,and exhibited a high degree of similarity in abundance and distribution between ***,we used Ceh-10 homeodomain-containing homolog,glutamate-ammonia ligase(glutamine synthetase),neuronal nuclei,and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 immunostaining to examine the emergence of bipolar cells,Müller glia,mature neurons,and microglia,*** timing and spatial patterns of the emergence of these cell types were remarkably consistent between in vivo and explant *** study showed that the organotypic retinal explant culture model had a high degree of consistency with the progression of in vivo early postnatal retina *** findings confirm the accuracy and credibility of this model and support its use for long-term,systematic,and continuous observation.

Investigation on thermal characteristics and desensitization mechanism of improved step ladder-structured nitrocellulose

Nitrocellulose,or cellulose nitrate,has received considerable interest due to its various applications,such as propellants,coating agents and gas ***,its high mechanical sensitivity caused many accidents during its storage and usage in *** this work,two kinds of insensitive step ladderstructured nitrocellulose(LNC)with different nitrogen contents were *** products were characterized by FT-IR,Raman,XRD,SEM,elemental analysis,TGA,DSC,accelerating rate calorimeter analysis(ARC),and drop weight test to study their molecular structure,thermal characteristics and desensitization *** with raw nitrocellulose,LNC has a sharper exothermic peak in the DSC and ARC *** H50values of the two kinds of LNC increased from 25.76 to 30.01 cm for low nitrogen content and from 18.02 to 21.84 cm for high nitrogen content,*** results show that the ladder-structure of LNC which provides regular molecular arrangement and a soft buffer made with polyethylene glycol could affect the energy releasing process of LNC and reduce the sensitivity of *** LNC provides an alternative to be used as a binder in insensitive propellants formulation.

Effect of shear-induced contact area and aperture variations on nonlinear flow behaviors in fractal rock fractures

This study experimentally analyzes the nonlinear flow characteristics and channelization of fluid through rough-walled fractures during the shear process using a shear-flow-visualization apparatus.A series of fluid flow and visualization tests is performed on four transparent fracture specimens with various shear displacements of 1 mm,3 mm,5 mm,7 mm and 10 mm under a normal stress of 0.5 *** granite fractures with different roughnesses are selected and quantified using variogram fractal *** obtained results show that the critical Reynolds number tends to increase with increasing shear displacement but decrease with increasing roughness of fracture *** flow paths are more tortuous at the beginning of shear because of the wide distribution of small contact *** the shear displacement continues to increase,preferential flow paths are more distinctly observed due to the decrease in the number of contact spots caused by shear dilation;yet the area of single contacts *** on the experimental results,an empirical mathematical equation is proposed to quantify the critical Reynolds number using the contact area ratio and fractal dimension.

Formation and speciation of disinfection byproducts during chlor(am)ination of aquarium seawater

The chemistry associated with the disinfection of aquarium seawater is more complicated than that of freshwater, therefore limited information is available on the formation and speciation of disinfection byproducts（DBPs） in marine aquaria. In this study, the effects of organic precursors, bromide（Br-） and pre-ozonation on the formation and speciation of several typical classes of DBPs, including trihalomethanes（THM4）, haloacetic acids（HAAs）,iodinated trihalomethanes（I-THMs）, and haloacetamides（HAc Ams）, were investigated during the chlorination/chloramination of aquarium seawater. Results indicate that with an increase in dissolved organic carbon concentration from 4.5 to 9.4 mg/L, the concentrations of THM4 and HAAs increased by 3.2-7.8 times under chlorination and by 1.1-2.3 times under chloramination. An increase in Br-concentration from 3 to 68 mg/L generally enhanced the formation of THM4, I-THMs and HAc Ams and increased the bromine substitution factors of all studied DBPs as well, whereas it impacted insignificantly on the yield of HAAs. Pre-ozonation with 1 mg/L O3 dose substantially reduced the formation of all studied DBPs in the subsequent chlorination and I-THMs in the subsequent chloramination. Because chloramination produces much lower amounts of DBPs than chlorination, it tends to be more suitable for disinfection of aquarium seawater.

Toxicity of Fluoranthene and Its Biodegradation by Cyclotella caspia Alga

Fluoranthene Is one of the polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons with four benzene rings. Because of Its toxicity, mutagenlclty, and carclnogenlclty, fluoranthene Is on the black lists of 129 and 68 priority pollutants established by US Environmental Protection Agency and the People＇s Republic of China, respectively. In recent years, the amount of fluoranthene In the aquatic environment has been Increasing with Increases In anthropogenlc discharge. Based on the biological investigation of tidal water In the Futlan mangrove, Cycioteila ~aspla was selected as the dominant algal species to determine the toxicity of fluoranthene towards C. caspla alga and to Investigate the blodegradatlon of fluoranthene by C. caspla under pure culture. The toxicity experiment showed that the 96-h EC50 value for fluoranthene was 0.2 mg/mL. Four parameters, namely C. caspla algal growth rate, chlorophyll （Chl） a content, cell morphology, and superoxlde dlsmutase （SOD） activity, were chosen as Indices of toxicity and were measured at 6 d （144 h）. The results showed that：（Ⅰ） the toxicity of fluoranthene towards C. caspla alga was obvious; （Ⅱ） C. caspla algal growth rate and Chl a content decreased with Increasing concentrations of fluoranthene; and （Ⅲ） the rate of cell deformation and SOD activity Increased with Increasing concentrations of fluoranthene. The blodegradatlon experiment showed that：（Ⅰ） the rate of physical degradation of fluoranthene was only 5.86%; （Ⅱ） the rate of blodegradatlon of fluoranthene on the 1st and 6th days （l.e. at 24 and 144 h） was approximately 35% and 85%, respectively; and （Ⅲ） the blodegradatlon capability of C. caspla alga towards fluoranthene was high. It is suggested that further Investigations on the toxicity of fluoranthene towards algae, as well as on algal blodegradatlon mechanisms, are of great Importance to use C. caspla as a biological treatment species In an organic wastewater treatment system.

The fluid resonance of a moonpool freely heaving in a beam sea is studied by an in-house constrained interpolation profile(CIP)***,the moonpool behaves as in the piston mode with a narrow *** numerical studies are carried out for a wide range of the incident waves,and a new secondary resonant region is identified in the low frequency region of the incident waves,besides the ordinary main resonant *** results demonstrate that the horizontal wave forces are significant in the secondary resonant region,although the resonant wave elevations are less remarkable than those of the main resonant *** is concluded that the fluid resonance of the low frequency is excited mainly by the heave motion of the *** studies of the moonpool draft and the gap width of the moonpool based on the fluid resonance are also performed.

Effect of E-44 Epoxy Resin and Pyrolysis Temperature on the Adhesion Strength of SiBCN Ceramic

An adhesive of the SiBCN ceramic was synthesized through the polymer derived ceramics(PDC)*** with higher adhesion strength and simpler process condition,the polyborosilazane(PSNB)was modified by E-44 epoxy *** E-44 epoxy resin was used to promote the oxidation process of SiBCN,in other words,to produce more amount of SiO2-B2O3 *** phase composition,elemental analysis,chemical bonds and microstructure were investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and scanning electron microscope(SEM)*** E-44 modified adhesives were cured at 120℃in air for 2 h,and were pyrolyzed at 1200,1400,and 1500℃for 2 h in air,*** highest adhesion strength of the modified adhesive was up to 5.33,12.23,and 12.50 MPa after being heat treated at 1200,1400,and 1500℃,***,we proposed an adhesion model and revealed the adhesion mechanism of SiBCN ceramic.
