Melting of hydrous pyroxenites with alkali amphiboles in the continental mantle:*** element compositions of melts and minerals

The trace element compositions of melts and minerals from high-pressure experiments on hydrous pyroxenites containing K-richterite are presented. The experiments used mixtures of a third each of the natural minerals clinopyroxene, phlogopite and K-richterite, some with the addition of 5% of an accessory phase ilmenite, rutile or apatite. Although the major element compositions of melts resemble natural lamproites, the trace element contents of most trace elements from the three-mineral mixture are much lower than in lamproites. Apatite is required in the source to provide high abundances of the rare earth elements, and either rutile and/or ilmenite is required to provide the high field strength elements Ti, Nb, Ta, Zr and Hf. Phlogopite controls the high levels of Rb, Cs and *** abundances of trace elements in the various starting mixtures vary strongly because of the use of natural minerals, we calculated mineral/melt partition coefficients (DMin/melt) using mineral modes and melting reactions and present trace element patterns for different degrees of partial melting of hydrous pyroxenites. Rb, Cs and Ba are compatible in phlogopite and the partition coefficient ratio phlogopite/K-richterite is high for Ba (136) and Rb (12). All melts have low contents of most of the first row transition elements, particularly Ni and Cu ((0.1-0.01)×primitive mantle). Nickel has high DMin/melt for all the major minerals (12 for K-richterite, 9.2 for phlogopite and 5.6 for Cpx) and so behaves at least as compatibly as in melting of peridotites. Fluorine/chlorine ratios in melts are high and DMin/melt for fluorine decreases in the order apatite (2.2) > phlogopite (1.5) > K-richterite (0.87). The requirement for apatite and at least one Ti-oxide in the source of natural lamproites holds for mica pyroxenites that lack K-richterite. Advances in haplo-identical stem cell transplantation in adults with high-risk hematological malignancies

Allogeneic bone marrow transplant is a life-saving procedure for adults and children that have high-risk or relapsed hematological malignancies. Incremental advances in the procedure, as well as expanded sources of donor hematopoietic cell grafts have significantly improved overall rates of success. Yet, the outcomes for patients for whom suitable donors cannot be found remain a significant limitation. These patients may benefit from a hematopoietic cell transplant wherein a relative donor is fully haplotype mismatched. Previously this procedure was limited by graft rejection, lethal graft-versus-host disease, and increased treatmentrelated toxicity. Recent approaches in haplo-identical transplantation have demonstrated significantly improved outcomes. Based on years of incremental preclinical research into this unique form of bone marrow transplant, a range of approaches have now been studied in patients in relatively large phase Ⅱ trials that will be summarized in this review.

Melting experiments on ultramafic rocks rich in the hydrous minerals phlogopite or phlogopite+K-rich terite,some including 5%of accessory phases,have been conducted at 15 and 50 *** assemblages represent probable source components that contribute to melts in cratonic regions,but whose melt compositions are poorly known.A main series of starting compositions based on MARID xenoliths consisted of a third each of clinopyroxene(CPX),phlogopite(PHL)and K-richterite(KR)with or without 5%ilmenite,rutile or *** experiments were run without KR and with higher proportions of accessory *** traps were used at near-solidus temperatures to facilitate accurate analysis of wellquenched melts,for which reversal experiments demonstrate *** show that KR melts rapidly and completely within 50°C of the solidus,so that melts reflect the composition of the amphibole and its melting *** have high siO_(2) and especially K_(2)O but low CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) relative to basaltic melts produced from peridotites at similar *** have no counterparts amongst natural rocks,but most closely resemble leucite lamproites at 15 *** and PHL melt incongruently to form olivine(OL)and CPX at 15 kbar,promoting siO2 contents of the melt,whereas orthopyroxene OPX is increasingly stable at lower lithosphere pressures,leading to an increase in Mg O and decrease in siO_(2) in melts,which resemble olivine *** of mica pyroxenites without KR are richer in CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) and do not resemble *** experiments show that low CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) in igneous rocks is not necessarily a sign of a depleted peridotite *** phases produce melts exceptionally rich in P_(2)O_(5) or TiO_(2) depending on the phases present and are unlike any melts seen at the Earth’s surface,but may be important agents of metasomatism seen in *** addition of the 5%accessory phases ilmenite,rutile or apatite result in melting temper

Electric vehicles(EV)are proposed as a measure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in transport and support increased wind power penetration across modern power *** benefits can only be achieved,if EVs are deployed effectively,so that the exhaust emissions are not substituted by additional emissions in the electricity sector,which can be implemented using smart Grid *** research presents the results of an EV roll-out in the all island grid(AIG)in Ireland using the long term generation expansion planning model called the Wien Automatic system Planning IV(WAsP-IV)tool to measure carbon dioxide emissions and changes in total *** model incorporates all generators and operational requirements while meeting environmental emissions,fuel availability and generator operational and maintenance constraints to optimize economic dispatch and unit commitment power *** the study three distinct scenarios are investigated base case,peak and off-peak charging to simulate the impacts of EV’s in the AIG up to 2025.

Between Human and Animal： A study of New Year＇s sacrifice, Kong YijL and Diary of a Madman

A subtle aspect of Lu Xun＇s writing, running through several of his works of fiction, is his animalistic portrayal of some of his most well-known characters. scraping away their humanity as he writes, Lu Xun depicts Kong Yiji, Xianglin sao, and the infamous Madman crawling on their hands and knees, working like draught animals, and abandoning all rational thought. In short, all three end up occupying an ambiguous space between the realms of human and animal. This paper attempts to examine how Lu Xun＇s description and situation of these characters suggests, aside from the standard agendas of May Fourth writing in general, a certain, shared metaphysical conundrum. Drawing on the work of Giorgio Agamben to take the hiatus between human and animal as an occasion for ontological possibility, I will investigate how the dehumanized portrayal of these characters situates them at the threshold of a new becoming： one which has not yet been realized, but which is also rendered impossible either through the character＇s death or return to health. Examining Lu Xun＇s works in this way not only recognizes his major emphasis on social critique, but suggests both that his thought on Chinese society pierces through to the level of metaphysical inquiry, and that the relationship between human and animal marks a productive entry point for this sort of questioning.

A Breakthrough Performance： Being Human on Can Xue＇s Five spice street

Of the many forms of literary experimentation that arose in China during the 198os, Can Xue＇s writing stands out as some of the strangest and most enigmatic. This article intends to examine her most significant work from that period, Five spice street （Wuxiang jie; first published under the title Breakthrough Performance [Tuwei biaoyan]）, in light of one of the major intellectual concerns in literature at the time： the question of the human. Through a close reading of the novel, I investigate the ways in which Can Xue interrogates and destabilizes the notion of the human with regard to the relationship between subject and object, corporeality, animality, sexuality, language, and time. Overall, I suggest that while Can Xue succeeds in offering a unique and provocative conceptualization of the human in Five spice street, she also refrains from ＂breaking through＂ the general realm of humanist discourse current at the time.

Results of an Eight Year Long Practice of saline Bipolar Transurethral Resection of Prostate

Background: Open prostatectomy has long been the only prostatic bladder outlet obstruction’s surgery available in Benin. It is prone to postoperative bleeding and infections and is not suitable for prostate cancer-induced bladder outlet obstruction. Objective: To evaluate the first results of endoscopic surgery of prostatic bladder outlet obstruction in our environment. Patients and Method: We conducted an observational study of saline bipolar transurethral resection of prostate (B-TURP) at the former Military Teaching Hospital of Cotonou. We retrospectively collected the data from patients’ medical records from November 17, 2014, to september 7, 2022. We used Excel 2019 to make a descriptive analysis of the data. Results: saline B-TURP was performed in 60 consecutive patients. Their mean age was 69.1 years (range: 48-85). The procedure was indicated in 22 (36.7%), 32 (53.3%), 3 (5%), and 3 (5%) patients, respectively for acute urinary retention, chronic urinary retention, obstructive renal failure, and unresponsiveness to alpha-blockers. 35 patients (58.3%) had prostate cancer (PCa). 25 patients (41.7) had benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). No patient got a blood transfusion. The duration of postoperative hospitalization was 3 days (88.3%) to 5 days (11.7%). 5 patients (8.3%), i.e., 3 BPH and 2 prostate cancer patients got preoperative urinary tract infection. The causative bacteria were Escherichia coli in 3 patients (60%), Klebsiella pneumoniae in 2 patients (40%), and multi-resistant Acinetobacter as a metachronous infection to Escherichia coli in 1 patient (20%). All the infections were associated with indwelling foley catheter. 7 patients (11.7%), i.e., 3 BPH and 4 prostate cancer patients, got a second resection to recover full spontaneous micturition. Prostate size was available in the medical record of 21 BPH patients and 15 prostate cancer patients. A meta-analysis of global crop water productivity of three leading world crops(wheat,corn,and rice)in the irrigated areas over three decades

The overarching goal of this study was to perform a comprehensive metaanalysis of irrigated agricultural Crop Water Productivity(CWP)of the world’s three leading crops:wheat,corn,and rice based on three decades of remote sensing and non-remote sensing-based ***,CWP data from 148 crop growing study sites(60 wheat,43 corn,and 45 rice)spread across the world were gathered from published articles spanning 31 different *** was overwhelming evidence of a significant increase in CWP with an increase in latitude for predominately northern hemisphere *** example,corn grown in latitude 40–50°had much higher mean CWP(2.45 kg/m^(3))compared to mean CWP of corn grown in other latitudes such as 30–40°(1.67 kg/m^(3))or 20–30°(0.94 kg/m^(3)).The same trend existed for wheat and rice as *** soils,none of the CWP values,for any of the three crops,were statistically ***,mean CWP in higher latitudes for the same soil was significantly higher than the mean CWP for the same soil in lower *** applied for all three crops *** wheat,the global CWP categories were low(≤0.75 kg/m^(3)),medium(>0.75 tos were low(≤1.25 kg/m^(3)),medium(>1.25 to≤1.75 kg/m^(3)),and high(>1.75 kg/m^(3)).For rice the global CWP categories were low(≤0.70 kg/m^(3)),medium(>0.70 to≤1.25 kg/m^(3)),and high(>1.25 kg/m^(3)).UsA and China are the only two countries that have consistently high CWP for wheat,corn,and *** and India have medium CWP for wheat and ***’s corn,however,has low ***,Turkey,Netherlands,Mexico,and Israel have high CWP for ***,Argentina,and Hungary have high CWP for corn,and Philippines has high CWP for *** other countries have either low or medium CWP for all three *** on data in this study,the highest consumers of water for crop production also have the most potential for water *** countries are UsA
