Background:Impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology have been associated with altered knee biomechanics,pain,and *** the presence of these impairments in individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders is important and may indicate targets for assessment and *** systematic review aimed to synthesize the literature to determine the presence of impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology in individuals with gradual-onset knee ***:Five databases(mEDLINE,Embase,CINAHL,SPORTDiscus,and Web of Science)were searched from inception to September *** studies comparing hamstring outcomes(e.g.,strength,flexibility,and/or morphology)between individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders and their unaffected limbs or pain-free controls were ***-analyses for each knee disorder were ***-level certainty was assessed using the grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation,and evidence gap maps were ***:Seventy-nine studies across 4 different gradual-onset knee disorders(i.e.,knee osteoarthritis(OA),patellofemoral pain(PFP),chondromalacia patellae,and patellar tendinopathy)were *** with knee OA presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to pain-free controls during isometric(standard mean difference(SmD)=-0.76,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-1.32 to-0.21)and concentric contractions(SmD=-0.97,95%CI:-1.49 to-0.45).Individuals with PFP presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to painfree controls during isometric(SmD=-0.48,95%CI:-0.82 to-0.14),concentric(SmD=-1.07,95%CI:-2.08 to-0.06),and eccentric contractions(SmD=-0.59,95%CI:-0.97 to-0.21).No differences were observed in individuals with patellar *** with PFP presented with reduced hamstring flexibility when compared to pain-free controls(SmD=-0.76,95%CI:-1.15 to-0.36).Evidence gap maps identified insufficient evidence for chondromalacia patel

Introduction: metastatic spinal tumors (mST) refer to secondary involvement of the vertebral column by hematogenously-disseminated metastatic cells. They could affect either the bony structures or the spinal cords. mechanical instability and neurologic deficits resulting from spinal cord compression are the most common manifestations. Surgical intervention remains the most effective treatment for about 20% of patients who present with spinal cord compression. The prognosis is relatively poor. This work has as objectives to describe: the diagnostic tools, the different modalities of management and the prognostic elements of spine metastasis. methodology: We conducted an ambispective cross-sectional descriptive study;with retrospective data collection from January 2015 to December 2021 and prospective collection from January to April 2022 in the “Neurosurgery” unit of the Yaounde Central Hospital and the “Oncology and Neurosurgery” units of Yaounde general Hospital. Result: We included 101 patients. The m/F sex ratio was 1.66. The average age of the participants was 56.44 years (±14.19 SD) with a median of 58 years. metastatic spinal tumors were discovered in 61.39% of patients with a previously known primary tumor and 21.78% of patients had newly discovered tumors. The neurologic examination revealed a vertebral syndrome in 79.21% of cases, radicular syndrome in 60.40% and sub-lesional syndrome in 59.89%. Sensory disorders accounted for 39.60% and sphincter disorders accounted for 34.65%. According to the degree of severity, the lesions were classified as Frankel E (37.62%) followed by Frankel D (21.78%). metastatic lesions were mostly found at the thoracic vertebrae (68.25%) and lumbar vertebrae (22.22%). The most represented primary tumors were: prostate tumors (41.58%) and breast tumors (23.76%);followed by malignant hemopathies (15.84%). Ultrafast synthesis and sintering of materials in a single running experiment approach by using electric fields

Processing of materials in the form of ceramics normally involves several steps including calcination at a relatively low temperature for synthesis of the end-product powder and sintering at a high temperature for *** work we have been developing introduces a novel approach enabling synthesis plus sintering of materials in a single running experiment by using electric fields,ending with dense ceramics that display grains noticeably finer than in conventional *** new paradigm is fully illustrated with experiments conducted on amorphous CaCu3Ti4O12 precursor powder,shown to experience,on heating,crystallization through intermediate phases,followed by chemical reaction leading to synthesis of the end-product powder,plus densification depending on field *** processing time and furnace temperature are considerably reduced,demonstrating that enhanced synthesis and sintering rates applied under field *** results found in Bi2/3Cu3Ti4O12are also *** different factors that may contribute to this unique scenario,including Joule heating,defect generation,and reduction of free energy for nuclei formation promoted by the applied field,are briefly ***,the findings we bring here are exclusive as they show an exploitable way that allows rapid processing of materials with good control over particle and grain coarsening.

Effects of porosity,dry unit weight,cement content and void/cement ratio on unconfined compressive strength of roof tile waste-silty soil mixtures

One of the conventional ways to improve the mechanical behavior of soils is to mix them with cementing agents such as cement, lime and fly ash. Recently, introduction to alternative materials or sub-products that can be adopted to improve the soil strength is of paramount importance. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the effects of porosity(h), dry unit weight(gd) of molding, cement content(C)and porosity/volumetric cement content ratio(h/Civ) or void/cement ratio on the unconfined compressive strength(quor UCS) of silty soileroof tile waste(RT) mixtures. Soil samples are molded into four different dry unit weights(i.e. 13 kN/m^3, 13.67 kN/m^3, 14.33 kN/m^3 and 15 kN/m^3) using 3%, 6% and 9%cement and 5%, 15% and 30% RT. The results show that with the addition of cement, the strength of the RT esoil mixtures increases in a linear manner. On the other hand, the addition of RT decreases quof the samples at a constant percentage of cement, and the decrease in porosity can increase qu. A dosage equation is derived from the experimental data using the porosity/volumetric cement content ratio(h/C_(iv)) where the control variables are the moisture content, crushed tile content, cement content and porosity.

Investigation of the Potential and mechanism of Clove for mitigating Airborne Particulate matter Emission from Stationary Sources

Vegetative Barriers （VB） have the potential to mitigate air pollutants emitted from area sources, including concentrated Animal Feeding Operations （AFOs）. However, the mechanism has not been fully investigated, thereby limiting the application of vegetation systems in practice. An experimental method with repeatable and controllable conditions was developed to measure the change of Particulate matter （Pm） concentrations at upwind and downwind of VB in the wind tunnel and observe accumulated Pm on leaves with Scanning Electron microscope （SEm）, thus evaluating the ability of VB in mitigating Pm emitted from AFOs. Branch-scale vegetation, clove （syzygium aromaticum） was selected because its leaves are one of the major factors affecting Pm dispersion. The results show that the branch-scale barriers, as porous medium have the ability to interfere with airflow and reduce Pm, which could be influenced by wind speed, particle size fraction and surface area density of clove. moreover, clove elements could adjust to the wind and the micro structure of clove （such as the hierarchical structures of leaves） affected on the Pm deposition. These results indicate that the methods developed in this study may be used to evaluate the potential of vegetation in mitigating Pm from stationary sources, and some characteristics of vegetation can be further studied as bionic prototype for exploring engineering application of reducing particulates.

Functional abdominal pain disorders(FAPDs) are an important and prevalent cause of functional gastrointestinal disorders among children, encompassing the diagnoses of functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal migraine, and the one not previously present in Rome Ⅲ, functional abdominal pain not otherwise specified. In the absence of sufficiently effective and safe pharmacological treatments for this public problem, non-pharmacological therapies emerge as a viable means of treating these patients, avoiding not only possible side effects, but also unnecessary prescription, since many of the pharmacological treatments prescribed do not have good efficacy when compared to placebo. Thus, the present study provides a review of current and relevant evidence on non-pharmacological management of FAPDs, covering the most commonly indicated treatments, from cognitive behavioral therapy to meditation, acupuncture, yoga, massage, spinal manipulation, moxibustion, and physical activities. In addition, this article also analyzes the quality of publications in the area, assessing whether it is possible to state if non-pharmacological therapies are viable, safe, and sufficiently well-based for an appropriate and effective prescription of these treatments. Finally, it is possible to observe an increase not only in the number of publications on the non-pharmacological treatments for FAPDs in recent years, but also an increase in the quality of these publications. Finally, the sample selection of satisfactory age groups in these studies enables the formulation of specific guidelines for this age group, thus avoiding the need for adaptation of prescriptions initially made for adults, but for children use.

Chemical pesticides tend to accumulate in soil, resulting in human and environmental health risks. Hence, alternative methodologies involving chemical pesticides are beneficial for the control of agricultural pests. Metarhizium anisopliae is an entomopathogenic fungus that acts on different developmental stages of pest insects such as Diatraea saccharalis, a holometabolic lepidopteran with high potential for infestation in sugarcane crops. The present study evaluated the biocontrol effect of M. anisopliae isolates MT and E9 on D. saccharalis eggs at different ages by investigating the external and internal morphological alterations in treated eggs. Conidial suspensions of M. anisopliae isolated from MT and E9 at concentrations of 107 conidia/mL were applied to eggs of D. saccharalismily:Verdana;"> aged 0, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h. The eggs were observed every 24 h during development (0 h to 144 h). Samples were collected for observational, histological, and ultrastructural analyses. We found that the mT isolate caused 100% inviability of eggs aged 0 - 72 h, 144 h after the bioassays, while the effect of the E9 isolate varied between 49.40% and 93.75%. m
