The incidences of nonmelanoma skin cancer are increasing worldwide, and the ongoing war on its treatment necessitates the development of effective and non-invasive methods. Through basic and clinical research, non-invasive treatments like Curaderm have been developed, leading to improved quality of life for patients. Excipients, previously considered inactive ingredients, play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of topical formulations. The development of Curaderm emphasizes the importance of understanding the interactions between active ingredients, excipients, and the biological system to create effective and affordable pharmaceutical formulations. The systematic approach taken in the development of Curaderm, starting from the observation of the anticancer activity of natural solasodine glycosides and progressing through toxicological and efficacy studies in cell culture, animals, and humans, has provided insights into the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of solasodine glycosides. It is crucial to determine these pharmacological parameters within the skin’s biological system for maximal effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a skin cancer treatment. Curaderm, as a topical treatment for nonmelanoma skin cancer, offers benefits beyond those obtained from other topical treatments, providing hope for improved quality of life for patients.

solasodine rhamnosyl glycosides (sRGs) are chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer. sRGs in a cream formulation, CuradermBEC5, is very effective for the treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancers with excellent cosmetic end results. Intralesion injection of sRGs successfully dispose of very large tumours in animals without any clinical adverse effects. The mode of action of sRGs is by apoptosis. In this study, it is shown that small to large basal cell carcinomas are effectively treated only with topical application of CuradermBEC5. Here it is reported for the first time that combination of intralesion sRG injection and topical application with CuradermBEC5 in humans reduces the treatment time period by more than half when compared with topical application as the sole treatment regime. Two intralesion injections of very low doses of sRGs rapidly and effectively remove a large melanoma on a horse. If rapid removal of large troublesome skin cancers is required then this can be achieved by intralesion and topical treatments. Intralesion or combination therapy with sRGs may have some applications for melanomas in situ such as lentigo maligna.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic disease that can have significant effects on quality of life. Aim: To test whether the antineoplastic, antipathogenic plant derived secondary metabolites, solasodine glycosides, can treat psoriasis. Case Presentation: We report a case of a 54-year-old French-Vietnamese male who presented with diagnosed erythematous scaly annular recalcitrant psoriasis scattered throughout his body. Method: After failing conventional treatment regimens for over 10 years the patient received a trial with a topical cream formulation PsorendBEC, containing solasodine glycosides, for his psoriasis. Result: Topical applications of PsorendBEC twice daily resulted in complete resolution of cutaneous lesions after 4 weeks of treatment with no recurrence post 1 year after therapy. Conclusion: Topical PsorendBEC therapy rapidly removes recalcitrant psoriasis with no apparent side effects.

Assessing the Vulnerability of Agricultural Production Activities in the Coastal Area of Thua Thien Hue Province, Vietnam by GIs Analysis Tools

Using Geography Information system (GIs) tools and remote sensing data in assessing the level of vulnerability of agricultural production activities in the coastal area has become more efficient in the recent years. This research has identified the sensitivity index (s) (including the traffic access index;the impact of residential areas;the impacts of industrial zones;the community dependence level), exposure index (E) (the sea level rises to 2100;the temperature change to 2100), the adaptable capacity index (AC) (slope;morphology), thereby synthesizing the vulnerability index (V). Based on the indexes to calculate vulnerability, the high to very high vulnerability area is 37,081.44 ha, accounting for 68.09%;the average vulnerability level is 15,286.49 ha, accounting for 28.07%;the low to very low vulnerability level with an area is 2087.82 ha, accounting for 3.84% of the total area. With a high and very high vulnerability accounting for 68.09%, there will be great influences on the lives of resident in the area, especially agricultural production.

目的:检验问题取向应对风格量表(PF-sOC)对我国大学生的适用性,并考察其与心理健康的关系。方法:翻译PF-sOC并完成返回翻译,分别对2个样本共517名学生发放结构性问卷进行施测,使用PsI作同时效度分析,BDI、sEs、MBI-ss和UWEs-s为效标关联效度的测量指标。结果:(1)探索性和验证性因素分析表明修订后量表符合原版量表结构(χ2/df=2.09,NFI、NNFI、CFI接近0.90),3个分量表(思考型、压抑型和反应型)的内部一致性系数分别为0.73、0.70和0.72;(2)除在思考型维度上有性别差异外(男23.8±4.2/23.1±4.7,F=143.07,PsOC能有效预测抑郁、特质焦虑、学业倦怠与投入(ΔR2=10%-24%)。结论:中文版PF-sOC具有较好的信效度,并能预测大学生心理健康状况。

The priority of The Gambia government is to eliminate maternal to child transmission of HIV and in line with this priority, the country implemented an antiretroviral therapy (ART) program. With this, all HIV infected pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and infants have access to ARV drugs. This study aims to determine the prevalence of vertical transmission of HIV among women receiving the ARV drugs. Dried blood spot samples were collected from 109 HIV-exposed infants enrolled in 13 PMTCT sites across the country. A qualitative detection of proviral-DNA of HIV-1 was performed using the RealTime Abbott PCR assay. Data from 105 mothers were analyzed using sPss version 16.0 and association of risk factors to PCR results were analyzed using (Crosstabs) Pearson Chi-square. The p-value of significant was set at p s study has found that the prevalence of vertical transmission of HIV is 0.0% (0/64) among women that received the ARV prophylaxis then started ART, 7.1% (2/28) among mothers that received HIV prophylaxis only, and 38.4% (5/13) among women who neither receive HIV-prophylaxis nor ART during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Other risk factors of vertical transmission such as late initiation of treatment, default during treatment and first born of twins were found to be significantly associated with vertical transmission p = 0.001, p = 0.022 and p = 0.000 respectively. This study has found that the early intervention of ART at the onset of pregnancy through breastfeeding can eliminates Maternal to Child transmission of HIV-1and a high risk of vertical transmission was found among women who neither receive prophylaxis nor ART. If the effectiveness of the antiretroviral therapy is maintain, The Gambia, in the near future will attain the WHO’s goal to eliminate maternal to child transmission of HIV.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant and acute toxicity of extracts obtained from a successive extraction with solvents of ascending polarity [hexane, hex; chloroform, CHClsub>3sub> and ethanol (EtOH)] of Ternstroemia sylvatica schltdl. & *** antioxidant potential was evaluated by 2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, the ferric reducing/antioxidant power assays and by determining the total phenolic content. The anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects were evaluated using the in vivo croton oil-induced ear edema, phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate induced ear edema, carrageenan-induced paw edema, acetic acid-induced writhing and formalin murine models. The acute toxicity was tested using the Lorke’s method in *** EtOH extract was the most active for the antioxidant potential tests diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (68.70% inhibition), ferric reducing/antioxidant power [(2 431.30 ± 102.10) mmol Fesup>2+sup> and total polyphenols content (215.80 ± 8.50) meqAG/g]. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by topical application of croton oil (2 mg/ear dose) where the EtOH extract showed the strongest activity compared to the control group (45.13% inhibition), whereas in the phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate model, at the same dose, the CHClsub>3sub> extract showed the highest inhibition (42.88%). In the carrageenan induced edema model, the EtOH extract showed a stronger inhibition compared to indomethacin (56.34% and 50.70% at doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg of extract, respectively) during the first hour. similarly, the same extract showed the highest analgesic activity (30.60% inhibition) in the acetic acid contortion assay, and in the formalin test it showed a greater effect with respect to the control group in both *** work confirms the value of Ternstroemia sylvatica as an important anti-inflammatory and analgesic plant, whose mechanism seems to be associated to its antioxidant effects, and supports

目的探討經皮冠狀動脈介入治療(Percutaneous Coronary Intervent ion,PCI)術後應用氯吡格雷治療發生主要不良心血管事件(Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events,MACE)與攜帶CYP2C19*2和(或)*3基因者之間的關像,為PCI術後患者醢床應用氯吡格雷治療提供更進一-步認識。方法在The Cochrane Library、PubMed、EMbase、萬方、知網資料庫檢索相關文獻,由兩位研究員獨立進行文獻篩選和評價,探用RevMan5.2整理資料薈萃分析。結果納入39篇文獻,共33989例研究對象。薈萃分析結果顯示:與非攜帶組比較,攜帶組發生MACE(OR,1.48;9s%CI,1.24~1.76;Ps%CI,1.84~2.59;Psion Revascularization,TLR/Target Vessel Revascularization,TVR)(OR,1.78;95%CI,1.09-2.90;P20.02)的風險高;但兩組發生心源性死亡.出血事件的風險無統計學意義。結論CP2C19基因多態性與冠心病PCI術後口服氯吡格雷治療的患者出現MACE存在正相關,提示攜帶CYP2C19功能缺失基因者發生支架内血栓、非致死性心肌梗死、TLR/TVR的風險更高。
