The sub.enual cingulate cortex has b.en found to b. different in structure and function in mood and affective disorders compared to healthy individuals. Imaging studies have shown a decrease in function of the sub.enual region in b.polar disorder and depression, with overall glial numb.r shown to b. decreased in these disorders. Decreases in sub.enual grey matter in SZ have b.en ob.erved also. In this neuropathological study upon formalin-fixed coronal b.ain sections we describ. the morphological finding of de- creased frequency of sub.enual cingulate crown b.furcation (p = 0.02) as compared to control, b.polar and depression cases. This suggests that the cingulate cortex in schizophrenia may b. morphologically distinct in utero formation, potentially enab.ing an early identification of high-risk.individuals.

b.otic and ab.otic stresses impose a serious limitation on crop productivity worldwide. Prior or simultaneous exposure to one type of stress often affects the plant response to other stresses, indicating extensive overlap and cross-talk.b.tween stress-response signaling pathways. Systems b.ology approaches that integrate large genomic and prot-eomic data sets have facilitated identification of candidate genes that govern this stress-regulatory crosstalk. Recently, we constructed a yeast two-hyb.id map around three rice proteins that control the response to b.otic and ab.otic stresses, namely the immune receptor XA21, which confers resistance to the Gram-negative b.cterium, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae; NH1, the rice ortholog of NPR1, a k.y regulator of systemic acquired resistance; and the ethylene-responsive transcription factor, SUb.A, which confers tolerance to sub.ergence stress. These studies coupled with transcriptional profiling and co-expression analyses identified a suite of proteins that are positioned at the interface of b.otic and ab.otic stress responses, including mitogen-activated protein k.nase 5 （OsMPk.）, wall-associated k.nase 25 （WAk.5）, sucrose non-fermenting-l-related protein k.nase-1 （SnRk.）, SUb.A b.nding protein 23 （SAb.3）, and several WRk. family tran- scription factors. Emerging evidence suggests that these genes orchestrate crosstalk.b.tween b.otic and ab.otic stresses through a variety of mechanisms, including regulation of cellular energy homeostasis and modification of synergistic and/or antagonistic interactions b.tween the stress hormones salicylic acid, ethylene, jasmonic acid, and ab.cisic acid.

Ob.ective: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition of insufficient penile erection, consistently or recurrently, for sexual activity. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) induces transforming growth factor-b.ta (TGF-β), which causes the transition of epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells that affect ED. This study aimed to evaluate the roles of TNF-α, TGF-β, degree of lower urinary tract symptoms, and prostatic volume for the presence of ED in b.nign prostatic hyperplasia (b.H) ***: Our study performed an analytic ob.ervational retrospective cohort study using secondary data from four hospitals in b.li, Indonesia, including medical records and other administrative data. The sample was b.H patients with several history ***: Our sample was 83 respondents, ranging from 50 years to 80 years, 61 respondents with ED and 22 with non-ED. The International Prostate Symptom Score showed a significant result, which indicates that ED is more common in patients with higher International Prostate Symptom Score (p=0.002). Moreover, the TNF-α of ≥43.9 pg/mg and TGF-β of ≥175.8 pg/mL were significantly associated with the presence of ED in b.H patients (pb.H, while prostatic volume was not significant.

背景5-羟色胺受体拮抗剂用于剖宫产患者鞘内吗啡镇痛后瘙痒和恶心呕吐的预防和治疗，本文对其总体疗效进行了系统回顾。方法本文对一系列有关剖宫产患者应用任何一种5-羟色胺受体拈抗剂或安慰剂以预防和治疗瘙痒、恶心、呕吐的随机对照研究进行了回顾分析。所涉及的文章均真实有效，资料均由作者独立收集并以95％可信区间的相对危险度（relativerisk.，RR）概括。结果本综述包括9项随机对照研究，涉及1152例患者，其中539例接受5-羟色胺受体拮抗剂治疗，413例接受安慰剂治疗，另外200例患者因接受其他止吐药治疗而未参与分析。与安慰剂组相比，5-羟色胺受体拮抗剂组瘙痒发生率并未降低[80．7％VS85．8％，RR（95％CI）=0．94（0．81—1．09）]，然而5-羟色胺受体拮抗剂的应用降低了剧烈瘙痒发生率和瘙痒的治疗需求[需治疗数（numb.r-needed-to—treat，NNT）分别为12和15]。5-羟色胺受体拮抗剂对于已出现的瘙痒疗效强于安慰剂，NNT差别为3。5-羟色胺受体拈抗剂组与安慰剂组相比，术后恶心[22．0％VS33．6％，RR（95％CI）=0．75（0．58。0．96）]和呕吐[7．7％VS16．8％，RR（95％CI）=0．49（0．30—0．81）]的发生率显著降低，术后需应用5．羟色胺受体拮抗剂进行补救性止吐治疗的发生率也明显降低[9％VS23％，RR（95％CI）=0．38（0．21—0．68）]。结论剖宫产的产妇鞘内给予吗啡镇痛，尽管预防性应用5一羟色胺受体拈抗剂不能降低瘙痒的发生率，但是却明显降低了剧烈瘙痒和需要治疗的瘙痒、术后恶心和呕吐的发生率以及术后补救性止吐治疗的需要。对于已发生的瘙痒治疗也同样有效。虽然需更多的研究加以证实，但目前的研究资料表明，在这类患者群体中常规预防性使用此类药物是值得推崇的。

The Antarctic represents a largely untapped source for isolation of new microorganisms with potential to produce b.o- active natural products. Actinomycetes are of special interest among such microorganisms as they are k.own to produce a large numb.r of natural products, many of which have clinical, pharmaceutical or agricultural applications. We isolated, characterized and classified actinomycetes from soil samples collected from different locations on Signy Island, South Ork.ey Islands, in the maritime Antarctic. A total of 95 putative actinomyeete strains were isolated from eight soil samples using eight types of selective isolation media. The strains were dereplicated into 16 groups b.sed on morphology and Amplified Rib.somal DNA Restriction Analysis （ARDRA） patterns. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences of representatives from each group showed that streptomy- cetes were the dominant actinomycetes isolated from these soils; however, there were also several strains b.longing to diverse and rare genera in the class Actinob.cteria, including Demetria, Glaciib.cter, k.curia, Marmoricola, Nak.murella and Tsuk.murella. In addition, screening for antib.cterial activity and non-rib.somal peptide synthetase genes showed that many of the actinomycete strains have the potential to produce antib.cterial compounds.
