Objective:To evaluate the potential immunomodulatory effects of an aqueous extract of Sesamum indicum seeds with regard to splenocyte proliferation,Th1/Th2 balance,macrophage function,and the cytotoxic activity of natural killer(NK)***:Splenocyte proliferation was measured by[~3H]-thymidine *** assay was performed to evaluate the production of nitric oxide by *** levels of cytokines secreted by splenocytes and macrophages were measured by *** assay was performed to examine the cytotoxic activity of NK cells against YAC-1 tumor ***:Sesamum indicum significantly enhanced splenocyte proliferation in a dose-dependent *** indicum also increased and suppressed the secretion of Th1 and Th2 cytokines,respectively,by *** secretion of key pro-inflammatory mediators(iL-6,TNFα,and nitric oxide)by primary macrophages was significantly inhibited by Sesamum ***,Sesamum indicum increased the cytotoxic activity of NK cells against YAC-1 tumor ***:Sesamum indicum shows potent immunomodulatory,anti-inflammatory,and anti-cancer *** of Sesamum indicum may be used as effective therapeutic agents in regulating immune reactions implicated in various infectious and noninfectious conditions including cancer.

Recent clinical trials and new agents have permitted greater clarity in the choice of effective agents for that majority of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who have advanced disease at diagnosis and thus cannot be offered potentially curative resection,ablation or liver *** main treatment for these patients remains chemoembolization,although evidence for selective internal radiation therapy(SiRT)with SiR-Spheres or Theraphere,is beginning to suggest that the results with this may be comparable with less *** who have failed chemoembolization or SiRT or have metastatic disease at presentation are suitable for the multikinase inhibitor sorafenib(nexavar)or newly-approved lenvatinib(lenvima)as first line *** choice between which of them to use first is not currently *** who have failed sorafenib can be offered a choice of FDA-approved regorafenib(stivarga)or immune checkpoint inhibitor nivolumab(opdivo)as second line *** that considerable percent of patients presenting with macroscopic portal vein thrombosis,the choice appears to be between multikinase inhibitor or SiRT,given the potential toxicity of chemoembolization in this ***,considering the potency of both nivolumab and regorafenib and the pipeline of new agents such as atezolizumab(tecentriq)in current clinical trials,including new immune checkpoint inhibitors,this landscape may change within a couple of years,especially if new evidence arises for the superior effectiveness of combinations of any of these agents over single agents.

Background and aims:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is characterized by several clinically important prognostic parameters,including portal vein thrombosis(PVT),tumor multifocality,and serum alphafetoprotein(AFP)levels,in addition to maximum tumor diameter(MTD).However,associations among these parameters have not been thoroughly ***,the study aimed to investigate the correlations among these HCC characteristics in a prospectively collected ***:An 8080 HCC patient database derived from our weekly HCC council meeting was examined with respect to the correlations at baseline patient presentation between increases in MTD and changes in the percentage of patients with PVT,multifocality,or AFP ***:The percentage of patients with PVT and with multifocality(tumor nodule numbers≥3)significantly increased with enlarging MTD,regardless of the serum AFP level,showing the independence of PVT and multifocality on *** percentage of patients with multifocality increased with enlarging MTD,in the presence or absence of PVT,showing the independence of multifocality from ***,discordance was found between different tumor ***:A statistically significant association was found between PVT and MTD and between multifocality and MTD,all three of which are independent of *** and multifocality appeared to be independent of each *** PVT and multifocality were independent of AFP,they were also augmented with high serum AFP *** results suggest the possibility of multiple pathways of tumor progression in the later stages of HCC development.

During the interval 06:14―07:30 UT on August 24, 2005, since the Earth’s magneto- pause was suddenly compressed by the persistent high-speed solar wind stream with the southward component of the interplanetary magnetic field (iMF), the magnetopause moved inward for about 3.1 RE. Meanwhile, TC-1 satellite shifted from northern plasma sheet to the northern lobe/mantle region, although it kept inward flying during the interval 06:00―07:30UT. The shift of TC-1 from the plasma sheet to the lobe/mantle is caused by the simultaneous inward displacements of the plasma sheet and near-Earth lobe/mantle region, and their inward movement velocity is larger than the inward motion velocity of TC-1. The joint inward dis-placements of the magnetopause, the lobe/mantle region and the plasma sheet indicate that the whole magnetosphere shrinks inward due to the magnetospheric compression by the high-speed solar wind stream, and the magnetospheric ions are attached to the magnetic field lines (i.e. ‘frozen’ in magnetic field) and move inward in the shrinking process of magnetosphere. The large shrinkage of magne-tosphere indicates that the near-Earth magnetotail compression caused by the strong solar wind dynamic pressure is much larger than its thickening caused by the southward component of the iMF, and the locations of magnetospheric regions with different plasmas vary remarkably with the variation of the solar wind dynamic pressure.

AiM To investigate novel predictors of survival in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients following transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).METHODS One hundred sixty seven patients with un-resectable HCC were retrospectively analyzed to identify factors that might contribute to their HCC biology and aggressiveness. We correlated routine laboratory results(total bilirubin, AST, ALKP, GGTP, albumin etc.) to maximum tumor diameter, number of tumor nodules, portal vein thrombosis and blood alpha-fetoprotein levels. These 4 parameters were previously combined to form an aggressiveness index(Agi). We used The Wilcoxon ranksum(Mann-Whitney), to test the correlation between the Agi categories and liver function parameters. The Cox proportional hazards model was applied to evaluate the categories of Agi associated with overall survival. RESULTS The Agi was strongly correlated with survival in this novel patient population. Three year survival probability for Agi > or ively. Several factors independently correlated with Agi using univariate multiple logistic regression of Agi with 8 laboratory parameters. Lower albumin levels had an OR of 2.56(95%Ci: 1.120-5.863 P ine phosphatase and gamma glutamyl transpeptidase(GGTP) had ORs of 1.01(95%Ci: 1.003-1.026, P i: 0.99-1.00, P ively. in a Cox proportional hazard model combining mortality for Agi score and liver function parameters, only GGTP levels and the Agi were independently associated with survival. We present an algorithm for segmenting a mesh into patches whose boundaries are aligned with prominent ridge and valley lines of the shape. Our key insight is that this problem can be formulated as correlation clustering(CC), a graph partitioning problem originating from the data mining *** formulation lends two unique advantages to our method over existing segmentation methods. First,since CC is non-parametric, our method has few parameters to tune. Second, as CC is governed by edge weights in the graph, our method offers users direct and local control over the segmentation result. Our technical contributions include the construction of the weighted graph on which CC is defined, a strategy for rapidly computing CC on this graph, and an interactive tool for editing the segmentation. Our experiments show that our method produces qualitatively better segmentations than existing methods on a wide range of inputs.

in this study, the results of measurements on pressureless sintering behavior of Ag-SnO_2(88%wt Ag,12%wt SnO_2) pellets were reported. Dilatometric measurements, relative densities, hardness values, rupture transverse strength and electrical conductivities function of sintering temperatures were presented. A constant thermal expansion coefficient was determined, and a threshold temperature of densification(T_d) was exhibited. Sintering kinetics were reported for different temperatures. Hardness values were measured, and no increase in hardness is found under Td. Three-points bending tests were used to determine the transverse rupture strength whose evolution appears importantly well under Td. in the same manner, the increase in initial electrical conductivities begins well under Td. Under the threshold temperature, the relative increase in electrical conductivity is found to be independent of initial density of green compact pellets. This work highlights different evolutions in function of sintering temperature for the electrical conductivity and transverse rupture strength on the one hand, and for the densification and hardness on the other hand.
