The P2X4 receptor belongs to the P2X receptor family of trimeric ligand-gated ion channels and was the first member of this family for which a crystal structure was obtained(Kawate et al.,2009).This structure confirmed the trimeric stoichiometry of P2X receptors and subsequent studies from the same group revealed the orthosteric binding site of the natural ligand adenosine 5′-triphosphate(ATP)in a cleft between each adjacent subunit(Hattori and Gouaux,2012).Now synonymous with structural descriptions of P2X receptors,these original studies described the structure of each P2X4 receptor subunit as that resembling a dolphin.

Purpose： In this contribution we continue our investigations related to the activity index （A/） and its formal analogs. We try to replace the AI by an indicator which is better suited for policy applications. Design/methodology/approach： We point out that fluctuations in the value of the AI for a given country and domain are never the result of that country＇s policy with respect to that domain alone because there are exogenous factors at play. For this reason we introduce the F-measure. This F-measure is nothing but the harmonic mean of the country＇s share in the world＇s publication output in the given domain and the given domain＇s share in the country＇s publication ***： The F-measure does not suffer from the problems the AI does Research limitations： The indicator is not yet fully tested in real cases R＆D policy management： In policy considerations, the AI should better be replaced by the F-measure as this measure can better show the results of science policy measures （which the AI cannot as it depends on exogenous factors）. Originality/value： We provide an original solution for a problem that is not fully realized by policy makers.

Background: The irrational use of medicines remains a key health problem in many developing countries. The overuse of antibiotics is a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This study surveyed antibiotic use and adherence to the World Health Organization (WHO) prescribing indicators at the Request Muntanga Hospital in the Kalomo District of Southern Province, Zambia. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2023 to September 2023 at Request Muntanga Hospital in Zambia and reviewed 600 medical record prescriptions which were issued from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 using the WHO prescribing indicators. The collected data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23.0. Results: From the 600 prescriptions sampled, 1246 medicines were prescribed, with antibiotics making up 86.7% of the encounters. Additionally, the average number of drugs prescribed per encounter was 2.1 and the prevalence of polypharmacy was 61.3%. Further, 17.8% of medicines were prescribed as injectables. Furthermore, 76.7% of the drugs were prescribed from the Zambia Essential Medicines List and 38.9% by generic names. Conclusions: This study found a high use of antibiotics and deviations from the WHO/International Network of Rational Use of Drugs (INRUD) core prescribing indicators at the Request Muntanga Hospital indicating non-adherence to the prescribing indicators. There is a need to promote adherence to the WHO/INRUD core prescribing indicators to promote the rational use of antibiotics and prevent the emergence and spread of AMR.

This paper describes the development of a model for unbounded heterogeneous domains with radiation damping produced by an unphysical wave absorbing layer. The Perfectly Matched Layer（PML） approach is used along with a displacement-based finite element. The heterogeneous model is validated using the closed-form solution of a benchmark problem： a free rod with two-part modulus subjected to a specified time history. Both elastically supported and unsupported semi-infinite rods with different degrees of inhomogeneity and loading are considered. Numerical results illustrate the effects of inhomogeneity on the response and are compared with those for equivalent homogeneous domains. The effects of characteristic features of the inhomogeneous problem, presence of local maxima and cut-off frequency are determined. A degenerate case of a homogeneous semi-infinite rod on elastic foundations is produced by tending the magnitude of the foundation stiffness to zero. The response of the latter is compared with that of a free rod. The importance of proper selection of the PML parameters to highly accurate and efficient results is demonstrated by example problems.

Plants detect and respond to the proximity of competitors using light signals perceived by photoreceptor proteins.A low ratio of red to far-red radiation(R:FR ratio)is a key signal of competition that is sensed by the photoreceptor phytochrome B(phyB).Low R:FR ratios increase the synthesis of growth-related hormones,including auxin and gibberellins,promoting stem elongation and other shade-avoidance *** photoreceptors that help plants to optimize their developmental configuration and resource allocation patterns in the canopy include blue light photoreceptors,such as cryptochromes and phototropins,and UV receptors,such as *** photoreceptors act by directly or indirectly controlling the activity of two major regulatory nodes for growth and development:the COP1/SPA ubiquitin E3 ligase complex and the PIF transcription *** is also an important modulator of hormonal pathways that regulate plant defense against herbivores and pathogens,including the jasmonic acid signaling pathway,In this Perspective,we discuss recent advances on the studies of the mechanisms that link photoreceptors with growth and *** these mechanisms is important to provide a functional platform for breeding programs aimed at improving plant productivity,stress tolerance,and crop health in species of agronomic interest,and to manipulate the light environments in protected agriculture.

In this experimental study, the impacts of the slope of the upstream face of submerged spur dikes on scour patterns in the vicinity of the submerged spur dike have been investigated. Associated hydraulic parameters for scour initiation have been studied. The dependence of the criteria for scour initiation and scour patterns on the dike dimensions such as the dike length and height has been assessed. It is found that the maximum depth of a scour hole is localized upstream of the spur dike end. The location of the maximum scouring depth, the end of the spur dike, and the spot with the maximum deposition are nearly aligned and form a line approximately parallel to the flume wall. Results show that the proper selection of a sloped upstream face of the spur dike can significantly reduce the maximum scour depth and scour volume in the vicinity of the submerged spur dike. Equations have been established to describe the dependence of the criteria for scour initiation and the maximum depth of the scour hole on the Froude number of the flow, the blockage of the cross section by the spur dikes, the slope of upstream face of the spur dike, and the grain size of the bed material.
