Congenital disseminated pyogenic granuloma(CDPG)is characterized by eruptive disseminated or localized lesions,which may arise spontaneously or secondary to predisposing *** rarer is the occurrence of CDPG with numerous lesions affecting variable organs,which develop during the fetal *** report describes the case of a 32-week-old fetus presenting with severe hydrocephalus and vascular intracranial and right lung masses on magnetic resonance *** labor occurred at the 32^(nd)week due to preterm premature rupture of membranes,and the newborn died due to cardiac dysfunction within 2 hours *** subsequent autopsy revealed multiple violaceous to dark red papules,nodules,pedunculated and un-pedunculated mucocutaneous masses,as well as two brain lesions,a lung lesion,a thoracic wall intramuscular mass,and a pyloric *** examination and immunohistochemical evaluation for glucose transporter 1(GLUT1)confirmed the diagnosis of *** represents a rare condition with an elusive etiology and limited reports in the *** diagnosis from multifocal infantile hemangioma,based on GLUT1 negativity of CDPG,is imperative due to differing clinical course and treatment *** report underscores a severe case of CDPG characterized by preterm labor and demise shortly after delivery,notable for its extensive involvement across multiple organs,including the brain,lung,intestine,musculoskeletal system,mucosal,and numerous cutaneous sites.

A systematic review of salivary biomarkers in Parkinson's disease

The search fo r reliable and easily accessible biomarkers in Parkinson's disease is receiving a growing emphasis,to detect neurodegeneration from the prodromal phase and to enforce disease-modifying *** the need for non-invasively accessible biomarke rs,the majo rity of the studies have pointed to cerebrospinal fluid or peripheral biopsies biomarkers,which require invasive collection *** represents an easily accessible biofluid and an incredibly wide source of molecular *** the present study,after presenting the morphological and biological bases for looking at saliva in the search of biomarkers for Parkinson's disease,we systematically reviewed the results achieved so far in the saliva of different cohorts of Parkinson's disease patients.A comprehensive literature search on PubMed and SCOPUS led to the discovery of *** screening and exclusion,34 relevant articles were derived fo r systematic ***-synuclein,the histopathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease,has been the most investigated Parkinson's disease biomarker in saliva,with oligomeric alphasynuclein consistently found increased in Parkinson's disease patients in comparison to healthy controls,while conflicting results have been reported regarding the levels of total alpha-synuclein and phosphorylated alpha-synuclein,and few studies described an increased oligomeric alpha-synuclein/total alpha-synuclein ratio in Parkinson's *** alpha-synuclein,other biomarkers to rgeting diffe rent molecular pathways have been explored in the saliva of Parkinson's disease patients:total tau,phosphorylated tau,amyloid-β1-42(pathological protein aggregation biomarkers);DJ-1,heme-oxygenase-l,metabolites(alte red energy homeostasis biomarkers);MAPLC-3beta(aberrant proteostasis biomarker);cortisol,tumor necrosis factor-alpha(inflammation biomarkers);DNA methylation,miRNA(DNA/RNA defects biomarkers);acetylcholinesterase activity(synaptic and neuronal network

Patient Safety in the Use of Mechanical Restraints: Regulatory Compliance among Hospitals in the City of Buenos Aires and Proposal for Its Improvement

Introduction: Mechanical or physical restraint is an exceptional therapeutic resource to immobilize a subject and thus guarantee the safety of the patient and/or third parties in the face of high-risk behaviors, but it entails multiple crossings (bioethical, philosophical, medical, psychological, legal). Framed in the so-called “safety culture” developed by the WHO, based on the Protocol for its implementation of the CABA and attentive to its frequent use in CABA by different hospital services (medical clinic, geriatrics, intensive care and medical guards) we consider it necessary its study in terms of compliance with the risks it entails and its management. Objectives: Identify regulatory compliance with the GCABA Mechanical restraint (MR) Protocol from a patient safety perspective, as well as describe the clinical and medicolegal aspects, and propose the usefulness of a tool for its management and control. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, transversal and prospective work through the analysis of Clinical Records with indication of MR using a rubric-type form. 177 cases were analyzed between September-November 2023 from three hospitals of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, statistical parameters were applied and graphs were made. Results: Only 12.99% complied with the Protocol. In the mental health specialized hospital compliance was almost 5 times greater than in the general one, and in the emergency services compliance was 12 times greater than in Inpatient services. We found that the start or end time of MR was not recorded and only 43% described the causes/justifications for the indication (mostly in Emergency and Specialized hospitals), with the MR average time being shorter in Emergency. Conclusions: Only 1.3 out of 10 patients reliably completed the Protocol and it was mostly in the mental health specialized hospital and the emergency services. Prediction of permeability from well logs using a new hybrid machine learning algorithm

Permeability is a measure of fluid transmissibility in the rock and is a crucial concept in the evaluation of formations and the production of hydrocarbon from the *** techniques such as intelligent methods have been introduced to estimate the permeability from other petrophysical *** efficiency and convergence issues associated with artificial neural networks have motivated researchers to use hybrid techniques for the optimization of the networks,where the artificial neural network is combined with heuristic *** research combines social ski-driver(SSD)algorithm with the multilayer perception(MLP)neural network and presents a new hybrid algorithm to predict the value of rock *** performance of this novel technique is compared with two previously used hybrid methods(genetic algorithm-MLP and particle swarm optimization-MLP)to examine the effectiveness of these hybrid methods in predicting the permeability of the *** results indicate that the hybrid models can predict rock permeability with excellent ***-SSD method yields the highest coefficient of determination(0.9928)among all other methods in predicting the permeability values of the test data set,followed by MLP-PSO and MLP-GA,***,the MLP-GA converged faster than the other two methods and is computationally less expensive.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 is an ongoing health *** addition to affecting the respiratory system,COVID-19 can potentially damage other systems in the body,leading to extra-pulmonary *** manifestations are among the common consequences of *** the precise mechanism of liver injury is still questionable,several mechanisms have been hypothesized,including direct viral effect,cytokine storm,hypoxic-ischemic injury,hypoxiareperfusion injury,ferroptosis,and hepatotoxic *** factors of COVID-19-induced liver injury include severe COVID-19 infection,male gender,advanced age,obesity,and underlying *** presentations of liver involvement comprise abnormalities in liver enzymes and radiologic findings,which can be utilized to predict the *** gamma-glutamyltransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine aminotransferase levels with hypoalbuminemia can indicate severe liver injury and anticipate the need for intensive care units’*** imaging,a lower liver-to-spleen ratio and liver computed tomography attenuation may indicate a more severe ***,chronic liver disease patients are at a higher risk for severe disease and death from *** fatty liver disease had the highest risk of advanced COVID-19 disease and death,followed by metabolic-associated fatty liver disease and *** addition to COVID-19-induced liver injury,the pandemic has also altered the epidemiology and pattern of some hepatic diseases,such as alcoholic liver disease and hepatitis ***,it warrants special vigilance and awareness by healthcare professionals to screen and treat COVID-19-associated liver injury accordingly.

Active video games in fully immersive virtual reality elicit moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and improve cognitive performance in sedentary college students

Background:Active video games are a new method for increasing physical activity(PA).Fully immersive virtual reality(VR)is a hardware device on which an active video game can ***(video games in)VR(AVR),might increase immersion,game engagement,and moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),thereby yielding greater exercise-related benefits,e.g.,cognitive ***:We examined the induction of MVPA via an AVR and a sedentary VR(SVR)as well as the effects of VR play on cognitive performance,which was monitored using 2 different *** of 29 sedentary college students attended three 20-min laboratory sessions(AVR,SVR,or control)in a randomized order;during the control session,they sat quietly doing nothing.A fully immersive headset was used for the 2 video game *** monitored and computed participants’PA using hip-wom accelerometers(wGT3 x-bt;ActiGraph,Pensacola,FL,USA)and a heart rate band(Polar H7;Polar,Kempele,Finland).After each session,the participants completed a mnemonic similarity test(MST)to measure recognition *** also filled out a motion sickness questionnaire and an abbreviated game experience ***:The AVR session induced a significantly greater heart rate and more time spent in MVPA than did either of the other 2 sessions regardless of the PA monitoring *** elicited greater game experience questionnaire-assessed sensory and imaginative immersion,challenge,and positive affect than did *** mnemonic similarity test recognition score was marginally higher post-AVR session than it was post-SVR ***:AVR elicited MVPA without a significant increase in motion sickness and induced a better game experience and better borderline cognitive performance than did SVR.

Diurnal Dependence of Growth Responses to Shade in Arabidopsis： Role of Hormone, Clock, and Light Signaling

We investigated the diurnal dependence of the hypocotyl-growth responses to shade under sunlight-night cycles in Arabidopsis thaliana. Afternoon shade events promoted hypocotyl growth, while morning shade was ineffective. The Ihy-D, elf3, lux, pif4 pifS, tocl, and quadruple della mutants retained the response to afternoon shade and the lack of response to morning shade while the Ihyccal mutant responded to both morning and afternoon shade. ThephyB mutant, plants overexpressing the multidrug resistance-like membrane protein ABCB19, and the iaa17/axr3 loss-of-function mutant failed to respond to shade. Transient exposure of sunlight-grown seedlings to synthetic auxin in the afternoon caused a stronger promotion of hypocotyl growth than morning treatments. The promotion of hypocotyl growth by afternoon shade or afternoon auxin required light perceived by phytochrome A or cryptochromes during the previous hours of the photoperiod. Although the ELF4-ELF3-LUX complex, PIF4, PIF5, and DELLA are key players in the generation of diurnal hypocotyl-growth patterns, they exert a minor role in the control of the diurnal pattern of growth responses to shade. We conclude that the strong diurnal dependency of hypocotyl-growth responses to shade relates to the balance between the antagonistic actions of LHY-CCA1 and a light-derived signal.

BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.
