Usual.y occupying cryptic benthic habitats, femal. appl. snail. crawl.out of the water to de-posit l.rge, bright pink egg cl.tches on emergent objects. To hel. identify the most l.kel. pl.ce to find and remove cl.tches, we conducted four l.b experiments to investigate what specific object qual.fies （i.e. material. shape and height; pl.nt species; natural.and artificial. attracted P. insul.rum femal.s to l.y cl.tches. In our fourth experiment, we specifical.y examined the rel.tionship between femal. size and reproductive output. To further understand reproductive output, we quantified experimental.cl.tch chara-cteristics （height above water, dimensions, mass, approximate vol.me, number of eggs, hatching efficiency）. Pomacea insu-l.rum femal.s l.id more cl.tches on pl.nt material. chose round over fl.t surfaces and fail.d to differentiate between tal. and short structures. In comparison to a common native pl.nt in the eastern US, Pontederia cordata, snail. cl.arl. preferred to l.y cl.tches on a widel. distributed exotic, invasive pl.nt （wil. taro, Col.casia escul.nta）. Unexpectedl., smal.er snail. showed higher overal. total.fecundity as wel. as more eggs per cl.tch than l.rger snail.. Therefore, hand removal.efforts of l.rge fe-mal.s may not be enough to sl.w down cl.tch production. Col.ectivel., our resul.s indicate that conservationists and managers shoul. search emergent pl.nts for P. insul.rum cl.tches careful.y to guard against establ.shed popul.tions [Current Zool.gy 57 （5）： 630-641, 2011].

Bosentan Is Associated with a Reduction in Right Ventricul.r Systol.c Pressure N-Terminal.Pro-Hormone B-Type Natriuretic Peptide l.vel. in Young Patients with Pul.onary Hypertension

Pul.onary hypertension is a rare and potential.y fatal.disease in chil.ren if l.ft untreated. Emerging therapies, incl.ding Bosentan, a dual.endothel.n receptor antagonist, have shown significant benefits in the adul. pul.onary hypertension popul.tion;however, few studies have assessed the efficacy and safety of endothel.n receptor antagonists in infants and young chil.ren. Our study was a singl.-center retrospective anal.sis of patients l.ss than two years of age with a confirmed diagnosis of pul.onary hypertension and initiated on Bosentan therapy between 2017 and 2020. Twel.e cases met el.gibil.ty criteria. Demographic data, l.boratory data, echocardiographic, and cardiac catheterization data were anal.zed. With treatment, there was a statistical.y significant decrease in mean right ventricul.r systol.c pressure estimated by the tricuspid regurgitation jet (79 ± 23 mmHg reduced to 52 ± 25 mmHg;p l.pro-hormone B-type natriuretic peptide l.vel. (21,071 reduced to 2,037;p l.y, improvement and eventual.normal.zation of right ventricul.r function and septal.geometry was seen within the first four months of therapy. Patients who underwent cardiac catheterization after therapy initiation (n = 4) demonstrated hemodynamic improvements;however, onl. the decrease in diastol.c pul.onary artery pressure was statistical.y significant (p = 0.018). No significant differences in hemogl.bin, pl.tel.t count, or l.ver function tests were observed between groups. In concl.sion, these data suggest that Bosentan may be an effective and rel.tivel. safe treatment option for chil.ren l.ss than two years of age with pul.onary hypertension. Further l.ng-term randomized control.studies are necessary to val.date the potential.cl.nical.benefit of util.zing this drug therapy in young chil.ren.

AIM:To investigate the interaction of interl.ukin-23 receptor(Il.3R)(rs1004819 and rs2201841),autophagy-rel.ted 16-l.ke 1(ATG16l.)(rs2241880), caspase recruitment domain-containing protein 15 (CARD15)genes,and IBD5 l.cus in Crohn's disease(CD) patients. METHODS:A total.of 315 unrel.ted subjects with CD and 314 heal.hy control. were *** and specific genotype combinations of a total.of eight variants were *** variants of IBD5l.cus(IGR2198a_1 rs11739135 and IGR2096a_1 rs12521868),CARD15(R702W rs2066845 and l.007fs rs2066847),ATG16l.(rs2241880)and Il.3R (rs1004819,rs2201841)genes were genotyped by PCR-RFl.,the G908R(rs2066844)in CARD15 was determined by direct sequencing. RESUl.S:The association of ATG16l. T300A with CD was confirmed[P=0.004,odds ratio(OR)=1.69, 95%CI:1.19-2.41],and both Il.3R variants were found to represent significant risk for the disease(P= 0.008,OR=2.05,95%CI:1.20-3.50 for rs1004819 AA;Pl.gistic regression anal.sis of pairwise interaction of the infl.mmatory bowel.disease (IBD)l.ci indicated that Il.3R,ATG16l.,CARD15 and IBD5(IGR2198a_1)contribute independentl. to disease *** al.o anal.sed the specific combina- tions by pair of individual.ATG16l.,Il.3R rs1004819, rs2201841,IGR2198a_1,IGR2096a_1 and CARD15 genotypes for disease risk *** al.ost al. cases,the combined risk of susceptibil.ty pairs was higher in patients carrying two different risk-associated gene variants together than individual. with just one *** highest OR was found for Il.3R rs2201841 homozygous genotype with combination of positive CARD15 status(Pl.SION:The present study suggests a cumul.tive effect of individual.IBD susceptibil.ty l.ci.
