Neurodegenerative diseases are a group of disorders characterized by the progressive degeneration of neurons in the central or peripheral nervous ***,there is no cure for neurodegenerative diseases and this means a heavy burden for patients and the health system ***,it is necessary to find new therapeutic approaches,and antisense therapies offer this possibility,having the great advantage of not modifying cellular genome and potentially being *** preclinical and clinical studies aim to test the safety and effectiveness of antisense therapies in the treatment of neurodegenerative *** objective of this review is to summarize the recent advances in the development of these new technologies to treat the most common neurodegenerative diseases,with a focus on those antisense therapies that have already received the approval of the *** and Drug Administration.

The continuous growth of smart devices needing processing has led to moving storage and computation from cloud to the network edges,giving rise to the edge computing *** to the limited capacity of edge computing nodes,the presence of popular applications in the edge nodes results in significant improvements in users’satisfaction and service ***,the high variability in the content requests makes prediction demand not trivial and,typically,the majority of the classical prediction approaches require the gathering of personal users’information at a central unit,giving rise to many users’privacy *** this context,federated learning gained attention as a solution to perform learning procedures from data disseminated across multiple users,keeping the sensitive data *** study applies federated learning to the demand prediction problem,to accurately forecast the more popular application types in the *** proposed framework reaches high accuracy levels on the predicted applications demand,aggregating in a global and weighted model the feedback received by users,after their local *** validity of the proposed approach is verified by performing a virtual machine replica copies and comparison with the alternative forecasting approach based on chaos theory and deep learning.

Nowadays,the emerging paradigm of semantic communications seems to offer an attractive opportunity to improve the transmission reliability and efficiency in new generation communication *** particular,focusing on spectrum scarcity,expected to afflict the upcoming sixth generation(6G)networks,this paper analyses the semantic communications behavior in the context of a cell-dense scenario,in which users belonging to different small base station areas may be allocated on a same channel giving rise to a non-negligible interference that severely affects the communications *** such a context,artificial intelligence methodologies are of paramount importance in order to speed up the switch from traditional communication to the novel semantic communication *** a consequence,a deep-convolution neural networks based encoder-decoder architecture has been exploited here in the definition of the proposed semantic communications ***,extensive numerical simulations have been performed to test the advantages of the proposed framework in different interfering scenarios and in comparison with different traditional or semantic alternatives.

Joint involvement is the most common extraintestinal manifestation in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and may involve 16%-33% of patients at diagnosis or during follow-up. It is possible to distinguish asymmetrical, transitory and migrating arthritis (pauciarticular and polyarticular) and spondyloarthropathy (SpA). Clinical manifestations can be variable, and peripheral arthritis often occurs before gastrointestinal symptoms develop. The inflammatory intestinal pattern is variable, ranging from sub-clinical inflammation conditions, classified as indeterminate colitis and nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the ileum, to Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Unlike the axial form, there is an association between gut inflammation and evolution of recurrent peripheral articular disease that coincides with a flare-up of intestinal disease. This finding seems to confirm a key role of intestinal inflammation in the pathogenesis of SpA. An association between genetic background and human leukocyte antigen-B27 status is less common in pediatric than n adult populations. Seronegative sacroiliitis and SpA are the most frequent forms of arthropathy in children with IBD. In pediatric patients, a correct therapeutic approach relies on the use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, local steroid injections, physiotherapy and anti-tumor necrosis factor therapy (infliximab). Early diagnosis of these manifestations reduces the risk of progression and complications, and as well as increasing the efficacy of the therapy.

A major advantage of animal aggregations concerns cooperative antipredator *** behavior emerges earlier in many fish species,especially in those cannibalizing their *** is fundamental for developing schooling ***,the cognitive ability of naive newborn fish to aggregate remains ***,Poecilia reticulata,was selected as model organism to investigate how combinations of biomimetic robotic agents and adult conspecific olfactory cues affect collective responses in *** role of white and brown backgrounds in evoking aggregations was also *** cues were sufficient for triggering aggregations in *** newborns,although robotic agents had a higher influence on the group *** combination of robotic agents and olfactory cues increased schooling behavior ***,schooling was longer in the escape compartment when robotic agents were presented,except for the combination of the male-mimicking robotic fish plus adult guppy olfactory cues,with longer schooling behavior in the exploring *** of the tested cues,newborn fish aggregated preferentially on the brown areas of the ***,this research provides novel insights on the early collective cognitive ability of newborn fish,paving the way to the use of biomimetic robots in behavioral ecology experiments,as substitutes for real predators.

Recently F. Huang [Commun. Theor. Phys. 42 （2004） 903] and X. Tang and P.K. Shukla [Commun. Theor. Phys. 49 （2008） 229] investigated symmetry properties of the barotropic potential vorticity equation without forcing and dissipation on the beta-plane. This equation is governed by two dimensionless parameters, F and β, representing the ratio of the characteristic length scale to the Rossby radius of deformation and the variation of earth＇ angular rotation, respectively. In the present paper it is shown that in the case F ≠ 0 there exists a well-defined point transformation to set β = 0. The classification of one- and two-dimensional Lie subalgebras of the Lie symmetry algebra of the potential vorticity equation is given for the parameter combination F ≠ 0 and β = 0. Based upon this classification, distinct classes of group-invariant solutions are obtained and extended to the case β ≠0.

Solitary waves are often used in laboratory experiments to study tsunamis propagation and interaction with coasts. However, the experimental shape of the waves may differ from the theoretical one. In this paper, a correction technique aiming at minimizing the discrepancies between the two profiles is presented. Laboratory experiments reveal their effectiveness in correcting the experimental shape of solitary waves, mainly for low nonlinearities.

The physical quantities calculated by nuclear reactor Monte Carlo simulations are typically recorded on a grid of two or three spatial dimensions and one dimension of neutron *** of this,increasing the resolution of the calculated quantities can have a significant impact on the memory and CPU time required to run a *** neural networks have been shown to accurately upsample coarse-resolution photo-graphic images to resolutions multiple times finer than the *** we show that a convolutional neural network can accurately upsample flux tallies in a Monte Carlo neutron transport simulation by a factor of two along the spatial and energy *** flux tallies in pressurized water reactor assemblies were calculated using OpenMC at a 64×64 pixel spatial resolution and 8 neutron energy groups for input to the neural *** network upsamples the low-resolution neutron flux to 128×128 pixel spatial resolution and 16 neutron energy ***-resolution neutron flux tallies and their uncertainties were also calculated with OpenMC and compared with the network’s *** upsampled data and the high-resolution tally results agree to within the statistical uncertainty calculated by OpenMC.
