In the study of the structure of graded algebras(such as graded ideals,graded subspaces,and radicals)or graded polynomial identities,the grading group can be replaced by any other group that realizes the same *** we come to the notion of weak equivalence of gradings:two gradings are weakly equivalent if there exists an isomorphism between the graded algebras that maps each graded component onto a graded *** group grading on an algebra can be weakly equivalent to G-gradings for many different groups G;however,it turns out that there is one distinguished group among them,called the universal group of the *** this paper we study categories and functors related to the notion of weak equivalence of *** particular,we introduce an oplax 2-functor that assigns to each grading its support,and show that the universal grading group functor has neither left nor right adjoint.

Crustal Structure across the Northwestern Margin of South China Sea:Evidence for Magma-poor Rifting from a Wide-angle Seismic Profile

We present results from a 484 km wide-angle seismic profilie acquired in the northwest part of the South China Sea （SCS） during OBS2006 cruise. The line that runs along a previously acquired multi-channel seismic line （SO49-18） crosses the continental slope of the northern margin, the Northwest Subbasin （NWSB） of the South China Sea, the Zhongsha Massif and partly the oceanic basin of the South China Sea. Seismic sections recorded on 13 ocean-bottom seismometers were used to identify refracted phases from the crustal layer and also reflected phases from the crust-mantle boundary （Moho）. Inversion of the traveltimes using a simple start model reveals crustal images in the study area. The velocity model shows that crustal thickness below the continental slope is between 14 and 23 kin. The continental part of the line is characterized by gentle landward mantle uplift and an abrupt oeeanward one. The velocities in the lower crust do not exceed 6.9 km/s. With the new data we can exclude a high-velocity lower crustal body （velocities above 7.0 kin/s） at the location of the line. We conclude that this part of the South China Sea margin developed by a magma-poor rifting. Both, the NWSB and the Southwest Sub-basin （SWSB） reveal velocities typical for oceanic crust with crustal thickness between 5 and 7 kin. The Zhongsha Massif in between is extremely stretched with only 6-10 km continental crust left. Crustal velocity is below 6.5 kin/s; possibly indicating the absence of the lower crust. Multi-channel seismic profile shows that the Yitongansha Uplift in the slope area and the Zhongsha Massif are only mildly deformed. We considered them as rigid continent blocks which acted as rift shoulders of the main rift subsequently resulting in the formation of the Northwest Sub-basin. The extension was mainly accommodated by a ductile lower crustal flows, which might have been extremely attenuated and flow into the oceanic basin during the spreading stage. On October 29^(th),2022,scientists from China and New Zealand left Auckland on board the R/V Tansuoyihao to use,for the first time,the full-ocean-depth human-occupied vehicle(HOV)Fendouzhe to systematically explore the Kermadec *** first 1-month-long leg of the voyage was successfully completed on November 25th,*** HOV Fendouzhe conducted 16 dives between 5747 and 10010 m in depth,with five dives exceeding 9000 m and two dives to the Scholl Deep,the deepest point of the Kermadec *** November 4th,a first dive to the Scholl Deep was conducted by a scientist(*** schnabel)from New Zealand National Institute of Water&Atmospheric Research and two pilots(*** Deng and *** Yuan)from the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering,who spent 6 h exploring the Scholl Deep and the adjacent western slope of the *** was the first time a female scientist reached the deepest point of this *** a short return to Auckland for re-supply and staff changeover,the second leg of the voyage will be completed before the end of December with another 15 dives planned.

Prognostic models based on survival data frequently make use of the Cox proportional hazards model. Developing reliable Cox models with few events relative to the number of predictors can be challenging, even in low-dimensional datasets, with a much larger number of observations than variables. In such a setting we examined the performance of methods used to estimate a Cox model, including （i） full model using all available predictors and estimated by standard techniques, （ii） backward elimination （BE）, （iii） ridge regression, （iv） least absolute shrinkage and selection operator （lasso）, and （v） elastic net. Based on a prospective cohort of patients with manifest coronary artery disease （CAD）, we performed a simulation study to compare the predictive accuracy, calibration, and discrimination of these approaches, Candidate predictors for incident cardiovascular events we used included clinical variables, biomarkers, and a selection of genetic variants associated with CAD. The penalized methods, i.e., ridge, lasso, and elastic net, showed a comparable performance, in terms of predictive accuracy, calibration, and discrimination, and outperformed BE and the full model. Excessive shrinkage was observed in some cases for the penalized methods, mostly on the simulation scenarios having the lowest ratio of a number of events to the number of variables. We conclude that in similar settings, these three penalized methods can be used interchangeably. The full model and backward elimination are not recommended in rare event scenarios.

Isoprothiolane(IPT) resistance has emerged in Magnaporthe oryzae,due to the longterm usage of IPT to control rice blast in China,yet the mechanisms of the resistance remain largely *** IPT adaptation on PDA medium,we obtained a variety of IPT-resistant *** on their EC values to IPT,the resistant mutants were mainly divided into three distinct categories,i.e.,low resistance(LR,6.5≤EC <13.0 μg/mL),moderate resistance 1(MR-1,13.0≤EC<25.0 μg/mL),and moderate resistance 2(MR-2,25.0≤EC<35.0 μg/mL).Molecular analysis of MoIRR(Magnaporthe oryzae isoprothiolane resistance related) gene demonstrated that it was associated only with the moderate resistance in MR-2 mutants,indicating that other mechanisms were associated with resistance in LR and MR-1 *** this study,we mainly focused on the characterization of low resistance to IPT in *** growth and conidial germination were significantly reduced,indicating fitness penalties in LR *** on the differences of whole genome sequences between parental isolate and LR mutants,we identified a conserved MoVelB gene,encoding the velvet family transcription factor,and genetictransformation of wild type isolate verified that MoVelB gene was associated with the low *** on molecular analysis,we further demonstrated that the velvet family proteins VelB and VeA were indispensable for IPT toxicity and the deformation of the VelB-VeA-LaeA complex played a vital role for the low IPT-resistance in ***,most likely through the down-regulation of the secondary metabolism-related genes or CYP450 genes to reduce the toxicity of IPT.

We present a probe factor for a simple measurement device, which can be used to determine in-situ electrical resistivity in soils or other penetrable bodies. The probe is primarily sensitive to the material immediately surrounding it and therefore is ideal for determining localized conductivities. The geometry of the probe can be scaled to effectively adjust the region of interest. The calibration, or “probe factor” is a function of the geometry, as well as the electrode configuration. Results are presented assuming a Wenner array configuration, however they can easily be extended to other geometries, such as the Schlumberger or dipole-dipole array.
