North Africa is one of the m.st regions im.acted by water *** im.lem.ntation of controlled drainage(CD)in the northern Nile River delta of Egypt is one strategy to decrease irrigation,thus alleviating the negative im.act of water *** study investigated the im.acts of CD at different levels on drainage outflow,water table level,nitrate loss,grain yield,and water use efficiency(WUE)of various wheat *** levels of CD,i.e.,0.4 m.below the soil surface(CD-0.4)and 0.8 m.below the soil surface(CD-0.8),were com.ared with subsurface free drainage(SFD)at 1.2 m.below the soil surface(SFD-1.2).Under each drainage treatm.nt,four wheat cultivars were grown for two growing seasons(Novem.er 2018–April 2019 and Novem.er 2019–April 2020).Com.ared with SFD-1.2,CD-0.4 and CD-0.8 decreased irrigation water by 42.0%and 19.9%,drainage outflow by 40.3%and 27.3%,and nitrate loss by 35.3%and 20.8%,*** CD treatm.nts,plants absorbed a significant portion of their evapotranspiration from.shallow groundwater(22.0%and 8.0%for CD-0.4 and CD-0.8,respectively).All wheat cultivars positively responded to CD treatm.nts,and the highest grain yield and straw yield were obtained under CD-0.4 *** the initial soil salinity as a reference,the soil salinity under CD-0.4 treatm.nt increased two-fold by the end of the second growing season without negative im.acts on wheat *** the drainage system.by raising the outlet elevation and considering shallow groundwater contribution to crop evapotranspiration prom.ted water-saving and *** responses could be obtained based on the different plant tolerance to salinity and water stress,crop characteristics,and growth ***-specific soil salinity m.nagem.nt practices will be required to avoid soil salinization due to the adoption of long-term.shallow groundwater in Egypt and other sim.lar agroecosystem..

Research Background: The high prevalence of diabetes in Sudan, estim.ted at 16%, highlights the im.ortance of effective health education in diabetes m.nagem.nt. Diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education has been identified as a crucial tool in enhancing the knowledge, attitudes, and abilities necessary for self-m.nagem.nt am.ng individuals with diabetes. Aim. To assess the im.act of diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education on m.dication adherence and glycem.c control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes before and 3 m.nths after the DSm. intervention. m.thod: The study was conducted in Sudan between Septem.er 2022 and m.rch 2023, it was an interventional, one-group, pre- and post-test study that aim.d to assess the im.act of diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education (DSm.) on m.dication adherence and diabetes control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes. The research was conducted in prim.ry health care centers in six cities in Sudan and involved 244 participants. The data entry and statistical analysis were conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 27.0. A paired t test was used for analysis. Results: The study included 244 participants, 67% of whom.were m.les. The age m.an ± SD was 48.6 ± 9.3 years, and 85.3% of participants were m.rried. Age at onset of diabetes m.an ± SD was 40.60 ± 7.81 years;44.6% had diabetes for less than 5 years;and 84.1% had a positive fam.ly history of diabetes m.llitus. The levels of poor, low, and partial adherence to m.dication decreased by 8.2%, 4%, and 20.6%, respectively, after the intervention. The levels of good and high m.dication regim. adherence increased by 13% and 19.8%, respectively;Bm. decreased by 1.1 ± 0.73 kg/m.sup>2 (p = 0.005). The fasting blood sugar decreased by 69 ± 32.9 m./dl (p = 0.049), and the glycated hem.globin decreased by 1.21 ± 0.28% (p = 0.001). Conclusions: The findings of this study reinforce the im.ortance of patient education in im.roving glycem.c control and enhancing self-m.nagem.nt

With the hope of overcom.ng the generation of hazardous m.terials to hum.n health and environm.nt, serious and great endeavor have been m.de in catalyst fabrication using green chem.stry technology. In this paper, the m.nganese （III） acetylacetonate nanoparticles with diam.ters of about 146 nm.were prepared by a sim.le and environm.ntally benign route based on hydrolysis of Km.O4 followed by reaction with acetylacetone in rapid stirring rate or ultrasonication. The as-prepared sam.les were characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence （EDIX）, Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron m.croscope. Various param.ters were investigated, and the pure and stable crystals of m.nganese （III） acetylacetonate could be obtained in 98% conversion at a m.lar ratio 7：1 of acetylacetone to Km.O4 and 75℃after 60 m.n. We further proposed a m.them.tical m.del, and the predicted results from.m.del were in good agreem.nt with experim.ntal results.

The use of superabsorbent polym.rs or hydrogels could increase the water holding capacity (WHC) of sandy soil and reduce water loss by deep ***,hydrogels' retained water availability to plants m.ght be overestim.ted without taking into consideration the hydrogel particles ***,the ultim.te objective of this study was to address the im.acts of hydrogel particles size on hydrogel's retained water availability (plant available water,PAW),daily water consum.tion (DWC) and survival of Guava seedlings subjected to ***,som. soil physical properties,i.e.,WHC,water retention properties,and hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) were *** (WaterSorb,'WS') application,particularly the WS of sm.ll particles,significantly reduced Ksat,and increased WHC and ***,seedlings grown in soil am.nded with WS fine (0.8-1.0 m.),WS m.dium.(1.0-2.0 m.) and WS large (2-4 m.) survived for 27.0 ± 1.3,24.0 ± 1.1 and 17.0 ± 0.7 days,respectively,com.ared to 13.0 ± 1.0 days for the *** water stored in the WS of large particles was less readily available for plant ***,hydrogels,had no effect on the DWC of the *** hydrogels as a soil am.ndm.nt increases WHC PAW,growth and survival of Guava seedlings,while the effect was less pronounced for the large hydrogel particles which had lower specific surface area and swelling rate.

Atm.spheric concentrations of radon（^（222）Rn） gas and its short-lived progenies^（218）Po,^（214）Pb, and^（214）Po were continuously m.nitored every four hours at the ground level in Jeddah city, Kingdom.of Saudi Arabia. The m.asurem.nts were perform.d three tim.s every week, starting from.Novem.er 2014 to October 2015. A m.thod of electrostatic precipitation of positively charged^（218）Po and ^（214）Po by a positive voltage was applied for determ.ning^（222）Rn gas concentration. The short-lived^（222）Rn progeny concentration was determ.ned by using a filter holder connected with the alpha-spectrom.tric technique. The m.teorological param.ters（relative air hum.dity, air tem.erature, and wind speed） were determ.ned during the m.asurem.nts of^（222）Rn and its progeny concentrations.^（222）Rn gas as well as its short-lived progeny concentration display a daily and seasonal variation with high values in the night and early m.rning hours as com.ared to low values at noon and in the afternoon. The observed m.nthly atm.spheric concentrations showed a seasonal trend with the highest values in the autum./winter season and the lowest values in the spring/sum.er season. m.reover, and in parallel with alphaspectrom.tric m.asurem.nts, a single filter-holder was used to collect air sam.les. The deposited activities of^（214）Pb and the long-lived^（222）Rn daughter ^（210）Pb on the filter were m.asured with the gam.a spectrom.tric technique. The m.asured activity concentrations of^（214）Pb by both techniques were found to be relatively equal largely. The highest m.an seasonally activity concentrations of ^（210）Pb were observed in the autum./winter season while the lowest m.an were observed in the spring/sum.er season. The m.an residence tim.（m.T） of aerosol particles in the atm.spheric air could be estim.ted from.the activity ratios of ^（210）Pb/^（214）Pb.

Watershed rangelands in Northern Afghanistan provide various ecosystem.services that support the local people's livelihoods,but they are now highly degraded essentially due to the continuous high grazing pressure and recurrent *** of shrub establishm.nt m.thod enhanced by water harvesting techniques to rehabilitate degraded rangelands have not been well *** m.in goal of this study was to evaluate the im.act of direct seeding and transplanting of seedlings in com.ination with sem.-circular bunds on growth,yield,and survival rate of four shrub species(Atriplex halim.s,Atriplex num.ularia,Atriplex lentiform.s,andm.ireana brevifolia)under sem.-arid conditions of Sayyad village,Khulm.*** rate(%),plant height,width,and plant length(cm.and plant cover(%)were m.asured for each plant over five occasions.A non-destructive reference unit was used to estim.te biom.ss *** results showed that growth attributes and biom.ss production of shrubs were consistently greater in the transplanting com.ared to direct *** average,the plant length,width,height,volum.,cover,and biom.ss production of transplanted shrubs were greater than direct-seeded shrubs by 24.3%,8.6%,8.7%,121.5%,13.8% and 34.1%,*** production of transplanted seedlings was the highest for ***(1313.5 g Dm.plant)and ***(800 g Dm.plant).There was a strong correlation between plant biom.ss production and plant volum.(R^(2)_(Plant volum.)=0.88)for the shrub ***,indicating that plant volum. is a key variable for assessing biom.ss production for this ***,the survival rate of *** was 100% in both planting m.thods,suggesting that based on better survival this halophytic plant has great potential when restoring degraded ***,on the basis of better growth rates,yield,and survival,transplanting *** *** m.y enhance shrub establishm.nt and contribute to the rehabilitation of slop

Objective: The aim.of the present study is to discrim.nate functions for sex determ.nation in a subjected sam.le of the Egyptian population using the m.rphology of m.tacarpals and phalanges for gender com.arison. Furtherm.re, the m.asurem.nts discussed in this study will aid in predicting the differentiation independently and guaranteeing sex determ.nation in the subjected population individually. m.thods: Forty m.asurem.nts were taken from.the right m.tacarpals and phalangeal bones of 100 subjects, whose ages ranged from.19 to 60. m.reover, the m.asurem.nts of nine m.tacarpals and four phalangeal bones were used for sex discrim.nation in each sam.le population. Results: m.les had significantly greater m.an values (P m.tacarpals and the proxim.l phalangeal bones of all right-hand fingers than fem.les. The cut-off value and the accuracy percentage for precise sex classification of m.les and fem.les using individual and grouped bones showed that a value higher than the m.rking point classified an individual as m.le and that a lower value suggested fem.le. Besides, the m.ltiple stepwise discrim.nant functional analysis of the m.st predictable internal variables of the m.tacarpals revealed a cross-validated sex classification accuracy of 100%. In contrast, the m.st predictable internal variables of the phalanges showed a cross-validated sex classification accuracy of 93%. Conclusion: The results revealed a new forensic suggestion for the determ.nation of sex based on the m.asurem.nts of the m.tacarpals and the phalanges. m.reover, various discrim.nant equations were applied for the declaration of this conceivable recom.endation.
