Analysis of the Effect of Dietary Diversity on Anemia in Women of Reproductive Age in Senegal

Introduction: Anemia in women of reproductive age is a common health problem in Senegal. The objective of this research was to study the contribution of dietary diversity in the fight against anemia in women of reproductive age in two regions of Senegal using the propensity score method. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional and analytical study of women of reproductive age and their households was conducted in the Kolda and Kedougou regions in 2015. This was a three-stage random sample survey. The data was collected during an individual interview. Conditional logistic regression was used to identify the risk factor for this anemia. Results: In this study, 1926 women of reproductive age were surveyed. The average age of women of reproductive age surveyed was 27.2 years with a standard deviation of 7.6 years. The median age was 26 years old. Married women were in the majority. Pregnant and lactating women were 43.8%. The percentage of women with adequate diets was 31.5%. The proportion of women with anemia was 51.8%, or 998 women of reproductive age. Adequate dietary diversity is the main factor associated with anemia in these women (OR = 0.75 (0.59 - 0.96)). Conclusion: The prevalence of anemia in women of reproductive age is still high in the southern regions of Senegal. To combat this phenomenon, it is therefore necessary to intensify interventions on the balance of diet, iron and folic acid supplementation in pregnant and lactating women and to strengthen the empowerment of women.

本文利用深度学习和特征提取技术解决植物病害检测问题。所有测试和实验都是使用开源数据集Plant Village进行的。本文的主要工作是实现三种不同的深度学习模型,即Resnet 50,Google Net和VGG16,并找出其中最适合解决分类问题的网络模型。众所周知,世界人口约为70亿,农作物疾病是世界粮食供应的关键问题,而超过90%的人无法使用能够识别和解决植物病问题的工具或功能。如今,我们生活在一个由大规模技术,主要网络覆盖,高端智能手机以及人工智能的发现和改进所主导的世界中。将高端智能手机和基于深度学习的计算机视觉相结合成为了可能。人们将其定义为“智能手机辅助疾病诊断”。在深度学习领域,学者们已经训练了多种架构模型,其中一些模型的性能达到了99.53%以上。先前的研究是对每种模型分别进行的,每个模型都产生自己的结果。但是,在我们的研究中,我们使用最新的技术将三个先前测试过的深度学习模型（Resnet50,Google Net,VGG16）和两个分类器（SVM和KNN）组合在一起,以便比较获得的结果并找出哪种模型能够更准确且更好地解决植物病害分类问题。在本文中,我们解决了这个问题。实验结果证明Resnet 50是用于特征提取的最佳模型。在迁移学习时,VGG16是最佳选择。此外,与KNN相比,SVM被证明是最佳分类器。

Midwives’ Professional Satisfaction and the Quality of Obstetric Care in Developing Country

Introduction: In Africa, poor working conditions affect the motivation of health care providers. The objective is to study midwives’ professional satisfaction on the technical quality of emergency obstetric care in Senegal. Material and Methods: This was a prospective study of 16 hospitals in Senegal. The job satisfaction of midwives was measured during a personal interview. The instrument used was validated in Senegal and Mali. Other data collected relate to professional and institutional characteristics. A treatment observation grid was used to measure the quality of obstetric care in labour wards. Mixed-model linear regression was used to estimate the effect of satisfaction on the quality of obstetric care. Results: A total of 65 midwives were interviewed and 325 patients observed. The average quality score was 8.7 ± 1.7. The satisfaction scores ranged from 42.2 ± 17.4 (salary) to 76.7 ± 12.1 (morale satisfaction). A positive and significant correlation was found between quality of care and management (cc = 0.56), remuneration (cc = 0.40), task (cc = 0.32), workload (cc = 0.24) and training (cc = 0.29). The linear mixed model shows that salary (β = 0.40), continuing education (β = 0.17) and management style (β = 0.42) improved the quality of care. Association between moral satisfaction and quality care was negative (β = ﹣0.53). Conclusion: The satisfaction of health professionals is a major determinant of the quality of obstetric care. Its inclusion in the fight against mortality has become imperative in developing.

One in every four deaths in the United States is attributed to heart disease. While the ethnic variations have not been momentous, the socioeconomic disparities of heart disease incidence need to be further investigated. Moreover, exposure to air pollutants has been documented to cause heart disease. This secondary-data study investigates the effects of air pollutants as well as socioeconomic factors on hospitalization rate of heart disease in Texas. The rates for the five sub-diagnoses of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, hypertension and heart disease were linked to ozone, fine particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide and socioeconomic status factors at the county level. These were college education attainment, households with female heads, percentage of users of food stamps, ethnicities, living near a park and living in houses with severe housing problems. Spatial lag modelling was conducted to estimate the statistical significance of the independent variables on the five sub-diagnoses of heart disease. Fine particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and being African American were significant to all the outcomes. Living in a household with female head was significant to stroke and hypertension. Using food stamps was significant to cardiovascular disease, heart attack and heart disease. Fine particulate matter and sulphur dioxide increase the risk of heart disease by a factor of three to twenty two times, respectively. Whereas low socioeconomic status increases the risk of heart disease by a factor of up to four times. The results of the effect of particulate air and sulphur dioxide pollution among people in low social class especially African Americans. The vicious cycle of heart disease and low socioeconomic status call for societal and policy makers’ attention through methodical interventions to address the two significant issues of industrial facilities site allocation and stationary emission resources.

In Mauritanian, 4/5 of the territory is subject to an arid climate, where groundwater resources are the main sources of drinking water for populations and livestock. The study area is located in south-eastern Mauritania and in the western part of the Taoudenni Transboundary Basin. A better knowledge of the hydrogeological system to ensure a sustainable and rational management is necessary for this vulnerable water resource. This pioneering study, based on the compilation of hydrogeological, geochemical and isotopic data, aims to characterize the hydrodynamics and recharge of this one layer aquifer system, composed of Aioune infracambrian sandstone. The piezometric surface exhibits relatively the same morphology of the soil topography, and computed effective velocity is 94 m/yr (Northeast area), and the direction of flow is generally from cliff to plains area. The chemical data show water types evolving between two poles namely the HCO3-Ca/Mg pole (low mineralized), and the Cl-Ca/Na pole;these waters are characterized by a high vulnerability to pollution, especially at shallow depth area (Douerare, Aioune). The dissolution of bicarbonate and evaporate minerals is likely the main source of mineralization. The isotopic tool used to support comprehension of the system functioning, evidences a local indirect recharge water localized at the cliff or Wadi zones. The age of the waters ranges from the present to 1060 year. The recharge rate calculated by 14C and the chloride masse balance is respectively 0.4 to 5 mm/year. This recharge compared to the water pumping rate is lower and hence this imbalance is likely the cause of water shortages particularly during summer season period.

Objective: Despite the existence of several therapeutic strategies, the management of cervical cancer remains challenging. Our region has very little data on the interaction between the immune system and the clinical response to chemotherapy. This work examines plasma levels of galectin-3 (Gal-3) and percentages of activated T cells in patients with cervical cancer treated with chemotherapy and investigates if there is a relationship between the rates of these two elements. Methods: We compared data from 37 patients with cervical cancer undergoing chemotherapy and 42 controls with normal cervical cytology. Plasma Gal-3 concentrations were assessed by ELISA and expression of activation markers by T cells (CD69 and HLA-DR) was assessed by flow cytometry at three different time points during chemotherapy. Results: Our results showed that patients had a significantly higher concentration of Gal-3 compared to controls (4.025 vs. 1.340, p 0.001), similarly, they had a significantly high percentage of activated lymphocytes (2.610 vs. 0.731;p 0.0001). According to the response to treatment, patients with no response to treatment had a lower concentration of circulating Gal-3 but had approximately the same percentage of activated CD4 and CD8 lymphocytes as patients with a partial or total response. In addition, we found a positive correlation between the Gal-3 level and CD4 T cells expressing the activation marker CD69 (p 0.05;rho = 0.44). Conclusion: In conclusion, our results show that there would be a relationship between circulating galectin-3 and the percentage of peripheral CD4+CD69+ cells in cervical cancer.

Nowadays, crop diseases are a crucial problem to the world’s food supplies, in a world where the population count is around 7 billion people, with more than 90% not getting access to the use of tools or features that would identify and solve the problem. At present, we live in a world dominated by technology on a significant scale, major network coverage, high-end smart-phones, as long as there are great discoveries and improvements in AI. The combination of high-end smart-phones and computer vision via Deep Learning has made possible what can be defined as “smartphone-assisted disease diagnosis”. In the area of Deep Learning, multiple architecture models have been trained, some achieving performance reaching more than 99.53% [1]. In this study, we evaluate CNN’s architectures applying transfer learning and deep feature extraction. All the features obtained will also be classified by SVM and KNN. Our work is feasible by the use of the open source Plant Village Dataset. The result obtained shows that SVM is the best classifier for leaf’s diseases detection.

The time span covered by the study is primarily the three decades starting from the 198os, but the book＇s discussion travels back to key historical moments when social change, intellectual debates, political ideologies, and government polices brought about crucial changes in the practice and perceptions of marriage.

太阳能驱动水裂解产氢是一种绿色能源技术,用于制备可再生和零碳排放燃料以实现可持续能源生产.近期,氮化碳(g-C_(3)N_(4))同素异形体C_(3)N_(5)的出现克服了g-C_(3)N_(4)的固有缺点,如光生载流子快速复合和可见光吸收差,而导致极低的光催化效率.本文将硼掺杂剂通过原子替换或间隙掺杂的方式引入到C_(3)N_(5)体系中,并利用密度泛函理论对纯C_(3)N_(5)和硼掺杂C_(3)N_(5)体系进行计算,考察了硼原子对C_(3)N_(5)电子和光学性能的影响以及其催化析氢反应(HER)机理.热力学计算结果表明,硼原子掺杂在C_(3)N_(5)体系中是可行且有利的.在N_(3)位氮原子被硼原子取代(BN_(3)-C_(3)N_(5))后,带隙(0.6 e V)变窄.与纯C_(3)N_(5)相比,硼掺杂剂通过Volmer Tafel和Volmer Heyrovsky机制降低了酸性和碱性介质中HER反应中决定步骤的反应能垒.BN_(3)-C_(3)N_(5)表面的氢吸附吉布斯自由能(0.11 e V)与Pt/C催化剂(-0.09 e V)相当.综上,非金属掺杂碳可提高氮化物的催化性能,对未来该方向研究提供一定借鉴.
