Background and Objective: Th. liver is responsible for metabolism and detoxification of th. most of components th.t enter th. body. Once th. liver became injured, its efficient treatment with.famous ch.mical drugs was limited. Th.refore, interest concerned th. use of alternative medicines for th. treatment of h.patic disease h.s been arisen. Th. present study was aimed to investigate th. th.rapeutic effect of th. two types of stem cells against ch.omosomal aberrations in bone marrow (BM) cells of rats treated with.carbon tetrach.oride (CCl4). Design and Meth.d: BM-derived mesench.mal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated and propagated in culture for 2 weeks and were ch.racterized morph.logically. h.man umbilical cord blood (UCB) cells were obtained after full-term caesarean delivery from h.alth. donors. Low-density mononuclear cells were separated over Ficoll-Paque, and CD34+ h.matopoietic cells were isolated using a magnetic cell sorter. Rats were divided into 4 groups: control, CCl4, CCl4 plus MSC, and CCl4 plus CD34+. Liver tissue was examined h.stopath.logically for all groups. Results: Th. results of th. present study indicated a significant increase (p h. number of metaph.ses with.different types of ch.omosomal aberrations in CCl4 group. Treatment of th. animals with.BM-MSCs and UCB-CD34+ cells improved both.genotoxicity and h.stopath.logical ch.nges induced by CCl4.

In th.s paper we first prove th.t a near-ring admits a derivation if and only if it is zero-symmetric. Also, we prove some commutativity th.orems for a non-necessarily 3-prime near-ring R with.a suitably-constrained derivation d satisfying th. condition th.t d（a） is not a left zero-divisor in R for some a ∈ R. As consequences, we generalize several commutativity th.orems for 3-prime near-rings admitting derivations.

Influence of temperature on th. properties of one-dimensional piezoelectric ph.nonic crystals

Th. current study investigates th. influence of temperature on a one-dimensional piezoelectric ph.nonic crystal using tunable resonant frequencies. Analytical and numerical examples are introduced to emph.size th. influence of temperature on th. piezoelectric ph.nonic crystals. It was observed th.t th. transmission spectrum of a one-dimensional ph.nonic crystal containing a piezoelectric material（0.7 PMN-0.3 PT） can be ch.nged drastically by an increase in *** resonant peak can be sh.fted toward h.gh.or low frequencies by an increase or decrease in temperature, ***, we deduced th.t temperature can exh.bit a large tuning in th. ph.nonic band gaps and in th. local resonant frequencies depending on th. presence of a piezoelectric material. Such.result can enh.nce th. h.rvesting energy from piezoelectric materials, especially th.se th.t are confined in a ph.nonic crystal.

Microbial detoxification of metalaxyl in aquatic system

Four microorganisms, Pseudomonas sp. （ER2）, Aspergillus niger （ER6）, Cladosporium h.rbarum （ER4） and Penicilluim sp. （ER3）, were isolated from cucumber leaves previously treated with.metalaxyl using enrich.ent tech.ique. Th.se isolates were evaluated for detoxification of metalaxyl at th. recommended dose level in aquatic system. Th. effect of ph.and temperature on th. growth.ability of th. tested isolates was also investigated by measuring th. intracellular protein and mycelia dry weigh. for bacterial and fungal isolates, respectively. Moreover, th. toxicity of metalaxyl after 28 d of treatment with.th. tested isolates was evaluated to confirm th. complete removal of any toxic materials （metalaxyl and its metabolites）. Th. results sh.wed th.t th. optimum degree ph.for th. growth.of metalaxyl degrading isolates （bacterial and fungal isolates） was 7. Th. temperature 30℃ appeared to be th. optimum degree for th. growth.of eith.r fungal or bacterial isolates. Th. results sh.wed th.t Pseudomonas sp. （ER2） was th. most effective isolate in metalaxyl degradation followed by Aspergillus niger （ER6）, Cladosporium h.rbarum （ER4） and Penicilluim sp. （ER3）, respectively. Th.re is no toxicity of metalaxyl detected in th. supematant after 28 d of treatment with.Pseudomonas sp. （ER2）. Th. results suggest th.t bioremediation by Pseudomonas sp. （ER2） isolate was considered to be effective meth.d for detoxification of metalaxyl in aqueous media.

Exploring tree diversity and stand structure of savanna woodlands in south.astern Sudan

Savanna woodlands in Sudan h.st great biodiversity, provide a pleth.ra of ecosystem goods and services to local communities, and sustain numerous ecological functions. Alth.ugh.th. importance of th. Acacia trees in th.se areas is well known, up-to-date information about th.se woodlands' diversity is limited and ch.nges in th.ir woody vegetation composition, density, diversity and relative frequency are not monitored over time. Th.s study explored tree diversity and stand stage structure in Nuara Reserved Forest, a typical savanna woodland ecosystem in south.astern Sudan. A total of 638 circular sample plots(1000 m^2 for each. were establish.d using a systematic sampling grid meth.d. Th. distance between plots was 200 m. In each.plot, all living trees with.diameter at breast h.igh.(DBh. ≥5.00 cm were identified and counted, and th.ir DBh.values were recorded. From th.se data, tree composition, diversity, density and stage structure were assessed. Th.re were 12,259 individual trees representing four species(Acacia seyal, Balanites aegyptiaca, Acacia Senegal and Acacia mellifera) th.t belong to two families. Th. dominant species was Acacia seyal. Average tree density was 191 trees/h.^2 and th. Sh.nnon-Weiner index for trees diversity was 0.204. Overall, young trees comprised 86.30% of th. forest. Th. state of tree rich.ess and density in th. study area was low compared to oth.r similar environments in th. region and around th. world. We recommended adoption of a proper management system th.t includes monitoring of woody vegetation diversity in th.s forest, and management actions to enh.nce tree diversity and sustain ecosystem services to local communities. In addition to care for th. dominant Acacia seyal stands, more attention and conservation sh.uld be devoted to reestablish.ng Acacia senegal and Acacia mellifera trees because of th.ir h.gh.ecological and economic values for local communities.

Ezetimbe as potential treatment for ch.lesterol gallstones: Th. need for clinical trials

Obesity is associated with.insulin resistance, nonalcoh.lic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and gallstones. h.gh.fat diets (unsaturated fats) rich.in ch.lesterol h.ve been demonstrated to produce not only gallstones but also NAFLD and insulin resistance. Interestingly, a h.gh.incidence of gallstones is being reported in association with.insulin resistance and NAFLD. Laparoscopic ch.lecystectomy is th. best definitive th.rapy for symptomatic gallbladder disease. Ezetimibe is a drug th.t inh.bits th. absorption of both.dietary and biliary ch.lesterol in th. small intestine. Importantly, ezetimibe sh.wed potential benefit not only in treating and preventing gallstones but also in insulin resistance and NAFLD. Furth.r studies are required before th. use of ezetimibe for th. treatment of gallstones can be advocated.

Terlipressin and h.patorenal syndrome: Wh.t is important for neph.ologists and h.patologists

h.patorenal syndrome (h.S) is a reversible form of functional renal failure th.t occurs with.advanced h.patic cirrh.sis and liver failure. Despite mounting research.in h.S, its etiology and medical th.rapy h.s not been resolved. h.S encompasses 2 distinct types. Type 1 is ch.racterized by th. rapid development of renal failure th.t occurs with.n 2 wk and involves a doubling of initial serum creatinine. Type 2 h.s a more insidious onset and is often associated with.ascites. Animal studies h.ve sh.wn th.t both.forms, in particular type 1 h.S, are often precipitated by bacterial infections and cir-culatory ch.nges. Th. prognosis for h.S remains very poor. Type 1 and 2 both.h.ve an expected survival time of 2 wk and 6 mo, respectively. Progression of liver cir-rh.sis and th. resultant portal h.pertension leads to th. pooling of blood in th. splanch.ic vascular bed. Th. ensuing h.perdynamic circulation causes an ineffective circulatory volume wh.ch.subsequently activates neuro-h.rmonal systems. Primarily th. sympath.tic nervoussystem and th. renin angiotensin system are activated, wh.ch. in th. early stages of h.S, maintain adequate circulation. Both.advanced cirrh.sis and prolonged ac-tivation of neuroh.rmonal mech.nisms result in fatal complications. Locally produced nitric oxide may h.ve th. potential to induce a deleterious vasodilatory effect on th. splanch.ic circulation. Currently medical th.rapy is aimed at reducing splanch.ic vasodilation to resolve th. ineffective circulation and maintain good renal per-fusion pressure. Terlipressin, a vasopressin analogue, h.s sh.wn potential benefit in th. treatment of h.S. It prolongs both.survival time and h.s th. ability to re-verse h.S in th. majority of patients. In th.s review we aim to focus on th. path.genesis of h.S and its treatment with.terlipressin vs oth.r drugs.

Ch.racterization and Catalytic Activity of New Metal-organic Frameworks Resulted from Self-assembly of Ph.SnCI, K[Cu（CN）2] and Nitrogen Donor Ligands

Five new metal-organic frameworks （MOFs） of th. general composition [Ph.SnCu（CN）2.L], wh.re L= pyrazine （pyz）（1）, meth.lpyrazine （mepyz）（2）, 4,4＇-bipyridine （bpy）（3）, trans-l,2-bis（4-pyridyl）eth.ne （tbpe）（4） or 1,2-bis（4-pyridyl）eth.ne （bpe）（5）, h.ve been synth.sized and ch.racterized to test th.ir potential applications as catalysts. Th. structures of th. MOFs 1--5 mainly consist of Cu（CN）2 building blocks connected by th. Ph.Sn cations and th. bipodal ligand forming polymeric networks. Th.y exh.bit strong fluorescence in th. solid state. Also, th.y are used as h.terogeneous catalysts for th. degradation of azo-dyes, metanil yellow （MY） by diluted solution of h.drogen peroxide as oxidant. Th. reaction is first order with.respect to MY dye, wh.le th. factors affecting th. rate constant of th. degradation reaction are investigated. Th. activation parameters of th. reaction h.ve been estimated and a possible mech.nism h.s been proposed.
