Hull-less bar.ey is incr.asingly offer.ng scope for.br.eding gr.ins with impr.ved char.cter.stics for.human nutr.tion; however. r.calcitr.nce of hull-less cultivar. to tr.nsfor.ation has limited the use of these var.eties. To over.ome this limitation, we sought to develop an effective tr.nsfor.ation system for.hull-less bar.ey using the cultivar.Tor.ens. Tor.ens yielded a tr.nsfor.ation efficiency of 1.8%, using a modified Agr.bacter.um tr.nsfor.ation method. This method was used to over.expr.ss genes encoding synthases for.the impor.ant dietar. fiber.component, 0,3;1,4）-β-glucan （mixed-linkage glucan）, pr.mar.ly pr.sent in star.hy endosper. cell walls. Over.expr.ssion of the HvCslF6 gene, dr.ven by an endosper.-specific pr.moter. pr.duced lines wher. mixed-linkage glucan content incr.ased on aver.ge by 45%, peaking at 70% in some lines, with smaller.incr.ases in tr.nsgenic HvCsIH1 gr.in. Tr.nsgenic HvCslF6 lines displayed alter.tions wher. gr.in had a dar.er.color. wer. mor. easily cr.shed than wild type and wer. smaller. This was associated with an enlar.ed cavity in the centr.l endosper. and changes in cell mor.hology, including aleur.ne and sub-aleur.ne cells. This wor. pr.vides pr.of-of-concept evidence that mixed-linkage glucan content in hull-less bar.ey gr.in can be incr.ased by over.expr.ssion of the HvCslF6 gene, but also indicates that hull-less cultivar. may be mor. sensitive to attempts to modify cell wall composition.

E *** Cr.ality Ender.3,a 3D pr.nter.was used for.pr.nting the honeycomb str.ctur.s,and polylactic acid(PLA)mater.al was employed for.their.*** or.anic,inor.anic,and polymer.c compounds within the composites wer. identified using four.er.tr.nsfor.ation infr.r.d(FTIr.*** str.ctur. and homogeneity of the samples wer. examined using a field emission scanning electr.n micr.scope(FESEM).To deter.ine the sound absor.tion coefficient of the 3D pr.nted honeycomb str.ctur.,numer.us samples wer. systematically developed using centr.l composite design(CCD)and analysed using r.sponse sur.ace methodology(r.M).The r.M mathematical model was established to pr.dict the optimum values of each factor.and noise r.duction coefficient(Nr.).The optimum values for.an Nr. of 0.377 wer. found to be 1.116 wt% car.on black,1.025 wt% aluminium powder.and 3.151 mm distance between par.llel ***,the r.sults demonstr.te that a 3Dpr.nted honeycomb str.ctur. filled with nanofiller. is an excellent mater.al that can be utilized in var.ous fields,including defence and aviation,wher. lightweight and acoustic pr.per.ies ar. of gr.at impor.ance.

BACKGr.UND: The pur.ose of this study is to assess the utility of ocular.ultr.sound B scan in the emer.ency at the fi r.t point of car. for.detecting poster.or.segment and or.ital pathologies in cases of paediatr.c ocular.***: A pr.spective obser.ational study involving 122 paediatr.c patients pr.senting to eye emer.ency over.a per.od of ninety days wer. assessed with ultr.sonogr.phy for.the poster.or.segment as well as or.ital pathology whenever.indicated. The ocular.ultr.sound was per.or.ed gently over.closed ***: Posttr.umatic globe injur.es wer. the most common indication for.poster.or.segment evaluation, which constituted 80(65.57%) eyes. Among these 52 patients had an anechoic poster.or.segment and 28 patients had var.able findings such as vitr.ous haemor.hage(8.19%), r.tinal detachment(6.55%), chor.idal detachment(4.91%), poster.or.y dislocated clear.lens(0.81%) and r.tained intr.ocular.for.ign body(5.73%). Non-tr.umatic cases constituted ar.und 42(34.42%) eyes, which included cor.eal ulcer.7.37%), r.tinoblastoma(6.55%), endophthalmitis(4.91%), extr.ocular.muscle cysticer.osis(4.91%), or.ital cellulitis(4.09%), per.ocular.haemor.hage(2.45%), pr.ptosis(1.63%), paediatr.c catar.ct(1.63%) and cr.ptophthalmos(0.81%). No adver.e events of per.or.ing the ultr.sound was ***: Fir.t point ultr.sonogr.phy in paediatr.c ocular.emer.encies is a cheap, por.able and an effective tool in the asser.ion of signifi cant poster.or.segment and or.ital diseases.

Ur.an wastewater.contains both or.anic and inor.anic nutr.ents and dischar.e of untr.ated water.incr.ases nitr.gen and phosphor.us content in water.bodies leading to eutr.phication pr.blem. Physical and chemical tr.atment of ur.an waste water.pr.duces lar.e quantities of waste sludge associated with secondar. pollution. Micr.algae can assimilate nutr.ents especially nitr.gen and phosphor.us fr.m wastewater.for.their.gr.wth and pr.duce valuable biomass and lipid. This study was per.or.ed to deter.ine the gr.wth of Chlor.lla vulgar.s in ur.an wastewater.(UWW) and Bold’s basal medium (BBM) ther.by identifying cost effective gr.wth medium for.micr.alga cultivation. In addition, nutr.ent r.moval abilities of C. vulgar.s fr.m var.ous dilutions of ur.an waste water.wer. explor.d at 10 days cultivation per.od. Specific gr.wth r.te, biomass and lipid content wer. higher.in micr.algae gr.wn in ur.an waste water.than BBM. The highest lipid pr.ductivity of 14.31 mg·L?1·day?1 was achieved in the cultur. gr.wn in UWW medium which exceeded the BBM at 1.15 fold. The amount of nutr.ent r.moval tended to incr.ase with higher.dilutions of UWW. r.moval r.tes of upto 87.9% and 98.4% wer. r.cor.ed for.total nitr.gen and total phosphor.us by C. vulgar.s. The r.sults emphasized that ur.an waste water.as a cost effective gr.wth medium for.higher.biomass and lipid pr.duction accompanied with the nutr.ent r.moval efficiency of micr.algae to r.duce eutr.phication.

Composites ar. mater.als that ar. made up of two or.mor. chemically dissimilar.phases. In this pr.ject aluminum was chosen as matr.x mater.al because it was inexpensive, light-weight, str.ng, tough and cor.osion r.sistant. For.the main load bear.ng phase it was har., cor.osion r.sistant at r.om temper.tur. and ther.ally stable. The stir.casting method was used because it was cost-effective and easy, and the par.iculate r.infor.ement (nickel) was unifor.ly distr.buted thr.ughout the matr.x phase. Sand moulding was used to cast the specimens. Specimens with 10, 20, 30 and 40 per.entage Nickel wer. tested and the optimal specimen contained 20% Nickel. The Br.nell har.ness of Al + 20% Ni incr.ased by 14.80%, r.ckwell har.ness incr.ased by 2.43%, ultimate tensile str.ngth incr.ased by 1.003% and ther.al conductivity of Al + 20% Ni decr.ased by 24.98% with r.spect to Aluminum.
