Bearing capacity of circular footings on multi-layered sand-waste tire shreds reinforced with geogrids

The presence of waste tires poses an environmental challenge as they occupy a significant amount of land and are expensive to dispose in ***,reusing waste tires can address this issue when waste tires are used in geotechnical *** determine the viability of this approach,laboratoryscale tests were conducted to investigate load-bearing capacity of circular footings on sand-tire shred(STS)mixtures with shredded waste tire contents of 5%e15%by weight and three different widths of *** investigation focused on analyzing the thickness of layers composed of STS mixtures,the soil cap,and the impact of geogrids on bearing *** results indicate that a specific mixture of sand and tire shreds provides the highest footing-bearing *** addition,the optimal shred content and size were found to be 10%by weight and 2 cm×10 cm,***,for a given tire shred width,a particular length provides the largest bearing *** results agree well with that of previous research conducted by the first author and his colleagues in direct shear and California bearing ratio(CBR)*** primary finding of this research is that the use of two-layered STS mixtures reinforced by geogrids significantly enhances the bearing capacity.

Size-dependent modal interactions of a piezoelectrically laminated microarch resonator with 3:1 internal resonance

The nonlinear interactions of a microarch resonator with 3:1 internal resonance are *** microarch is subjected to a combination of direct current(DC)and alternating current(AC)electric *** piezoelectric layers are thoroughly bonded on the top and bottom surfaces of the *** piezoelectric actuation is not only used to modulate the stiffness and resonance frequency of the resonator but also to provide the suitable linear frequency ratio for the activation of the internal *** size effect is incorporated by using the so-called modified strain gradient *** system is highly nonlinear due to the co-existence of the initial curvature,the mid-plane stretching resulting from clamped anchors,and the electrostatic *** eigenvalue problem is solved to conduct a frequency analysis and identify the possible regions for activating the internal *** effects of the piezoelectric actuation,the electric excitation,and the small-scale effect are investigated on the internal *** nonlinear phenomena such as Hopf bifurcation and hysteresis are identified in the microarch *** is shown that by applying appropriate piezoelectric actuation,one is able to activate microarch internal resonance regardless of the initial rise level of the *** is also disclosed that among all the parameters,AC electric voltage has the greatest effect on the energy exchange between the interacting *** results can be used to design resonators and internal resonance based micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS)energy harvesters.

Effects of different gases on the performance of foams stabilized by Cocamidopropyl betaine surfactant and silica nanoparticles:A comparative experimental study

Application of CO_(2)gas in foam enhanced oil recovery(EOR)processes has emerged as a win-win strategy for achieving higher oil recovery factor and reducing greenhouse gas emission,which can significantly help the protection of the ozone layer from ***,lower stability of CO_(2)-foam,as compared to the N_(2)-and CH_(4)^(-)foams,has tempted us to examine combinations of CO_(2)with these gases to not only improve the stability of the produced foam but also have CO_(2)as the gaseous phase of the *** this study,we investigated the effect of different gases and the mixture thereof on the performance of foams in EOR while the aqueous phase of foams is a constant mixture of Cocamidopropyl betaine surfactant(0.03 wt%)and silica nanoparticle(0.1 wt%).To this end,seven different gases,including N_(2),CO_(2),CH4,80%N_(2)^(+)20%CO_(2),80%CH_(4)^(+)20%CO_(2),50%CH_(4)^(+)50%CO_(2),50%N_(2)^(+)50%CO_(2)were used as the gases phase for foam generation and the performance of the produced foams were examined through the following experiments:bulk foam stability tests,apparent foam viscosity measurements and core flooding *** results of foam stability tests showed that half-life time for the CO_(2)-,CH_(4)^(-)and N_(2)-foams are 13.5,17.0 and 44.0 min,***,as revealed from apparent viscosity measurements,the N_(2)-and 80%N_(2)^(+)20%CO_(2)foams have higher apparent foam viscosity values followed by 50%N_(2)^(+)50%CO_(2)***,we showed that a combination of 80%N_(2)^(+)20%CO_(2)as the gaseous phase for foam generation could not only improve CO_(2)-foam stability,as compared to other foams,but also can substantially increase ultimate oil recovery(56.6%OOIP),even more than that for N_(2) foam(48.6%OOIP),obtained from core flooding experiments.

研究利用填土废塑料瓶作为横向构件附在加筋土挡墙(MSEWs)中钢带上可行性。配筋中的横向构件对增加抗拔力有重要影响。该加筋系统是由作为纵向构件的钢带和作为横向构件的填土废塑料瓶组成。为更好地研究以填土废塑料瓶作为横向构件对抗拔性能的影响,对一条独立的钢带和分别带有1~7个瓶子的钢带进行了拉拔试验。在不同的法向应力下进行了超过18次的实验室大型拉拔试验(例如拉拔箱尺寸为长1.2 m、宽0.6 m、高1.0 m)来评估新提出的加固元件的性能。试验结果表明,在扁钢带上建立三维空间对提高抗拔阻力影响很大。提高抗拔阻力最有效的方法是在距离S与直径D之比为3的钢带上加入4个横向构件,其平均抗拔阻力约为单独钢带的5倍。有横向构件和无横向构件钢带的极限抗拔阻力随竖向应力的增大而增大。
