We used geographic information system applications and statistical analyses to classify young, premature forest areas in southeastern Georgia using combined data from Landsat TM 5 satellite imagery and ground inventory data. We defined premature stands as forests with trees up to 15 years old. We estimated the premature forest areas using three methods: maximum likelihood classification(MLc), regression analysis, and k-nearest neighbor(k NN)modeling. Overall accuracy(OA) of classifying the premature forest using MLc was 82% and the Kappa coefficient of agreement was 0.63, which was the highest among the methods that we have tested. The k NN approach ranked second in accuracy with OA of 61% and a Kappa coefficient of agreement of 0.22. Regression analysis yielded an OA of 57% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.14. We conclude that Landsat imagery can be effectively used for estimating premature forest areas in combination with image processing classifiers such as MLc.

ZrO2 in different structures and cexZr4-xO8 solid solutions have been prepared by a sol-gel related method with propionic acid as the solvent. The results of their characterization and cO hydro-genation performance evaluation show that t-ZrO2 has better catalytic performance for cO hydrogenation to hydrocarbon than m-ZrO2. cerium (Ⅲ) acetate and zirconium (Ⅳ) acetylacetonate have been chosen as the most suitable starting materials for cexZr4-xO8 solid solution preparation. ce-Zr reducibility properties are increased by the incorporation of zirconium oxide in the ceria structure. ce2Zr2O8 exhibits a higher activity, lower methane selectivity and higher iso-c4 selectivity than tetragonal ZrO2. This implies that the formation mechanism of c4 hydrocarbons, especially that for the iso-c4 fraction is different over ce2Zr2O8 and t-ZrO2.

AIM: To investigate the changes in intraocular pressure(IOP) before and after intraocular surgery measured with Goldmann applanation tonometry(GAT) and pascal dynamic contour tonometry(PDcT), and assessed their ***: Patients who underwent trans pars plana vitrectomy(TPPV) with or without cataract extraction(cE) were included. The IOP was measured in both eyes with GAT and PDcT pre-and postoperatively, where the nonoperated eyes functioned as ***: Preoperatively, mean IOP measurements were 16.3±6.0 mm Hg for GAT and 12.0±2.8 mm Hg for PDcT for the operated eyes. Postoperatively, the mean IOP dropped to 14.3±5.6 mm Hg for GAT(P=0.011) and rose up to 12.7±2.6 mm Hg for PDcT(P=0.257). Bland-Altman analysis showed a poor agreement between GAT and PDcT with a mean difference of 2.9 mm Hg preoperatively and 95% limits of agreement ranging from -3.2 to 9.0 mm Hg. Postoperatively, the mean difference was 1.2 mm Hg with 95% limits of agreement ranging from-8.3 to 10.7 mm Hg. There were no significant differences between the TPPV and TPPV+cE group, except when measured with PDcT postoperatively(P=0.012).cONcLUSION: The IOP is reduced after surgery when measured with GAT and remained stable when measured with PDcT. However, the agreement between GAT and PDcT is poor. Although PDcT may be a more accurate predictor of the true IOP, it seems less suitable for daily use in the clinical practice.

This paper reviews the socio-economic development and the spatial evolution patterns of Macao. It argues that urbanization and intense land development have posed three challenges to Macao's future development pathway, namely, limited provision of resource, lack of diversification ofindustries, and incomplete planning legislation. The General Agreement on the cooperation between Guangdong and Macao signed in 2003 represents a strong policy incentive that offered a comprehensive institutional framework to promote economic integration. The Agreement is conducive to achieving economic development through proposing dynamic and diversified economic activities, which will also benefit tourism. The development of Hengqin will serve as a test bed for furthering the implementation of "one country, two systems" constitutional principle, which will also improve the existing regional cooperation mechanisms. A comprehensive urban planning system should be established to avoid marginalization in regional development. Better reallocation of resources and prevention of over-competition in the market are two critical components in achieving sustainable development of Macao.

current village planning in china, which mostly draws on the experience from urban planning, is a rational planning model based on elite decision-making, resulting in many problems. Essentially, planning is a kind of institutional arrangement according to the demands of multiple actors under certain social context. Since actors and their behaviors in villages are far different from those in cities, leading to the reorganization of planning assumptions and prerequisites, village planning paradigms are prominently distinct from urban planning paradigms. This paper figures out the significance of social networks and argues that village planning is a kind of communicative planning based on endogenous order, referring to the paradigm development course of Western urban planning theories and the features of chinese villages. In conclusion, it stresses that village planning should focus on social network and promote communication, coordination, and consensus-building, and accordingly planners should adjust their role.
