A series of 1,3-substituted 8-styrylxanthines (11a-d) was synthesized, under chemo- and regioselective conditions, in a good overall yield. The compounds showed affinity towards both A1 and A2A-adenosine receptors by radioligand binding by means of in vitro assays. The (E)-3-ethyl-1-propyl-8-styrylxanthine (11a) showed the greatest affinity towards the A2A receptor, whereas (E)-3-pentyl-1-propyl-8-styrylxanthine (11d) showed the greatest affinity for the A1 receptor. When the 8-styrylxanthines 11a (A15Et) and 11c (A15Bu) were administrated in rats, which were previously injured with 6-hydroxydopamine at the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc), the turning behavior decreased 50%. Based on these results we propose to A15Et as a potential compound to treat some symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Introduction: There has been an increase in the proportion of cesarean deliveries, especially in developing countries. Methods: Cross-sectional study of all hospital live births from mothers living in Sao Paulo Metropolitan Area, Brazil. Data were obtained from the Live Birth Information System, which is linked to the National Database of Health Establishments. Hospitals were classified as public, private or mixed. Descriptive analysis and exponential regression were conducted to evaluate time trends. Poisson regression was applied to analyze each hospital type to identify risk factors and the attributable risk fraction for cesarean section. Results: There was an annual increase (1.4%) of cesarean deliveries between 2000 and2013. In2009, the percentage of cesarean deliveries was 53% overall and 83% in private hospitals. The primary risk factor for cesarean delivery was delivery in a private hospital. Other risk factors that were stronger in public hospitals included the following: advanced maternal age, high maternal education, nulliparity, high number of prenatal visits, multiple pregnancy, hospital with low annual volume of deliveries, birth outside the city of residence and white skin color. Discussion: These results may be explained by the obstetric care model of private hospitals, which is not multiprofessional. Prenatal care and delivery are conducted by the same doctor and rarely include the input of another professional, such as a midwife. In addition, the mode of delivery influences the professional’s payment.

Milk is one of the products that can be adulterated in many ways affecting the quality of this and its derivatives. Glucomacropeptide (GMP) is a protein that is found only in the whey from the production of fresh cheese, enzymatically obtained from the coagulation of casein and which is commonly used to adulterate fresh or powdered milk. The aim of this study was to determine the adulteration of milk with cheese whey thought a molecular approach, where the glucomacropeptide was collected by sequential precipitation with trichloroacetic acid (ATC) and detected by polyacrylamidododecylsulfate gel electrophoresis (PAGE-SDS), using samples of fresh milk, intentionally adulterated with serum in the proportion of 0%, 1%, 5%, 10% and 15%. The results obtained showed that the detection of glucomacropeptide by electrophoresis was positive in all samples of adulterated milk, evidencing a band of 20.9 kDa in the reading, corresponding to the molecular weight of the GMP, showing that the technique used determines the adulteration in the milk, in a specific and sensitive way, also shows that in the evaluation of physical-chemical and microbiological parameters of milk, there are no significant differences between treatments, except for the pH that tends to decrease as the percentage of serum in the milk increases.

间断性闪光刺激(IPS)是脑电图监测中常用的检测方法,旨在发现儿童及成人异常癫痫样放电对闪光的敏感性(即光敏感性).但在临床实践中,不同的国家以及不同的脑电图室采用的IPS方法不同,导致结果有所差异.我们认为应该建立标准的检测方法,从而能够可重复地定性和定量检测光敏感性,更利于监测和识别癫痫和光敏感性患者.与1999年发表的方法相比较,新方法不仅增加了内容,而且对IPS检测技术以及相关的操作原理进行了详述.为了提高有效性及实用性,该方法通过6年的欧洲神经病学及癫痫专家实践反馈并且反复讨论形成了共识.

The intake of heavy metals through food consumption is a food safety problem that severely impacts the health of consumers, so information about food intake and heavy metal concentrations in food products is required to estimate the potential risk to the health of the population. The main purpose of this study was to estimate the potential risks to human health from exposure to Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn through the intake of Malus domestica Golden Delicious consumed in the Mexican southeast, considering the age group and gender. The concentration of each of the metals was quantified by spectrometry of atomic absorption (AAE) and the daily intake of metals (DIM) and health risk indices through the consumption of apple: health risk index (HRI), total health risk index (THRI), target hazard coefficient (THQ) and the probability of carcinogenic risk (CR) were estimated. The concentrations of the metals analyzed in the apple samples showed the following decreasing order: Zn ≥ Ni ≥ Cu ≥ Pb ≥ Cd. The DIM values showed the following decreasing order: child > young adult > adoescent > elders. The health risk assessments (HRI, THRI, THQ and CR) obtained from the samples of Golden Delicious apples are located within the acceptable and/or tolerable limits, however, the increase in the intake of heavy metals through consumption of apples from establishments in the study area or the consumption of various foods contaminated with heavy metals may increase the health risk potential of consumers. For this reason, it is recommended to carry out studies on the concentration of heavy metals in food products, mainly those of greater popular consumption, to guarantee food security of the population.

This work shows an optical and structural study of glycine sodium nitrate crystals. This study was supported with the respective X ray diffracttion and Second-Harmonic Generation signal detection by using a little variant to the Kurtz- Perry method. The goal of this work is to obtain the right pH that modifies the charge of glycine sodium nitrate system in order to obtain the best second harmonic emission. Furthermore with the change on the charge on the aminoacid, it is observed how it modifies the optical properties in the glycine sodium nitrate complex.

Flame Thermal Spray (FTS) coatings frequently show some porosity and reduced adherence to substrate, which affect its properties, especially its corrosion resistance. In this work, the corrosion resistance of AISI 1018 carbon steel coated by different methods is compared: electroless nickel (EN) coating, NiCrFeBSi obtained by FTS, duplex coatings of an EN deposit on a layer of NiCrFeBSi obtained by FTS and a layer of NiCrFeBSi on an EN deposit. The coatings were characterized using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques, EDS microprobe microanalysis, roughness as well as electrochemical polarization tests to obtain the corrosion rate. The results show the enhancement in the corrosion resistance in saline medium of the duplex coatings, especially of the EN coating on FTS layer.

the recognition of taxonomic ranks in current systematic and taxonomic research is lacking universally standardized criteria. Now molecular clock methods allow us to estimate divergence times based on multilocus sequences from extant and fossil agaric specimens. Agaricus（Agaricaceae, Agaricales） is a genus that contains many species of high commerial value. Recent research using ITS sequences discovered eleven new phylogenetic lineages. Proper taxonomic recognition and ranking of new lineages is essential to complete the natural systematics in this important group. In this study, we firstly conducted a preliminary ITS-only phylogenetic reconstruction using 745 ITS sequences（nearly 600 ITS sequences are new taxonomic contributions） including 59 from type specimens. Based on the preliminary ITS tree, 114 samples represented species from all twelve previously recognized Agaricus sections and seven of the eleven recently discovered clades were selected for producing LSU, tef-1α, and rpb2 sequences. Then the divergence time of the genus Agaricus and main clades within Agaricus were estamated using BEAST v1.8. Based on a phylogenetic consensus using a combination of multigene sequences genes（ITS, LSU, tef-1α and rpb2） and morphology, we propose a revised taxonomic system of Agaricus that considers the divergence time as a criterion for standardizing taxonomic rank, which can reflect evolutionary time while concomitantly redefining taxonomic groups based on phylogenetic relationships. The genus Agaricus was divided into five subgenera and 20 sections. Subgenera Minores and Spissicaules were created, subgenus Pseudochitonia was substantially emended, and circumscription of the subgenera Agaricus and Flavoagaricus was restricted to the members of sections Agaricus and Arvenses, respectively. Four new sections were created（Rubricosi, Crassispori, Flocculenti, and Amoeni）. Subsections Bohusia and Hondenses were raised to the sectional rank and placed into subgenus Pseudochiton

Three behaviors of epidemiological importance,namely feeding latency,feeding duration and defecation latency,for six populations of Meccus phyllosomus longipennis(Usinger)from areas of central,western and north-central Mexico with high(HP)and low(LP)prevalence of Trypanosoma cruzi(Chagas)human infection were evaluated in this *** median feeding latency(the time taken to begin feeding)was highly variable between ***-instar comparisons showed that at least 65%of the LP populations(N3 to adult)started to feed significantly(P<0.05)later than the HP population,with N1 showing no difference,and N2 from LP populations feeding sooner than those from HP *** six populations had similar median feeding durations within instars.A higher(P<0.05)percentage of the instars from HP populations defecated faster than the respective instars from the three LP *** 25%of the young nymphs(N1 to N3)and females in the HP populations defecated<2 min postfeeding,compared with 4%-6%of the young nymphs and 1.3%-3%of females in the LP ***,17.7%-38.8%of the older nymphs(N4 to N5)in the HP populations and 6.8%-13.4%in the LP populations defecated during or immediately after *** results indicate that the HP populations have a greater potential than the LP populations to transmit *** infections,which may underlie the differences in the prevalence of *** infection in some areas where M *** is currently distributed.
