Multiple emulsions are of great therapeutic interest especially in the administration of medicines which can be inactivated by digestive enzymes;moreover the researches of formulation not being often easy, a control of the different phases physicochemical parameters would be of great interest in rapid formulations and at low cost. When formulating emulsions, the preliminary tests, also known as formulation tests, constitute a step which can be long and expensive because of the quantity of reagents that can be used. A rigorous methodology could thus be of great interest, which is at the aim of our study which consists of evaluating the physico-chemical parameters of different phases used to make thus multiple emulsions. In our study, physico-chemical parameters such as conductivity, pH, density, viscosity, and surface tension have been studied by direct measurement using equipment and also by means of suitable mounting. The results showed that the pH and the surface tension have an important role in the prediction of the stability of emulsions, these latter must be of the same order of magnitude. For all phases conductivity does not have too much interest apart from helping to determine the type of the emulsion.

The objective of this work was to determine the suitability of poultry methacompost from the 2nd methanizer of the BRIN FOUNDATION in Yaokokoroko (Bondoukou, Côte d’Ivoire), to be used in the improvement of soil fertility. The methacompost studied has a C/N ratio = 17.26, which could characterize a stable methacompost with high amending power. It also contains mineral elements Nitrogen (N) = 0.68% DM;Phosphorus (P) = 0.084% DM;Potassium (K) = 0.67% DM;Calcium (Ca) = 0.65% DM;Magnesium (Mg) = 0.15% DM. red in the standard relating to the organic amendments (NFU 44-051). The methacompost has fertilizing and amending properties and could not present any risk for vegetation and soils.

Study of Factors Associated with the Age of Natural Menopause in Menopausal Women Aged 30 to 80 Years from the Keur Massar Health District in 2015 (Senegal)

Introduction: Menopause is a biological phenomenon that occurs at a more or less early or late age in the life of every woman. The general objective is to study the factors associated with the age of natural menopause in menopausal women aged between 30 and 80 years who have gone through down Keur Massar health district in 2015. Methodology: This was an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study conducted in Keur Massar health district from December 1st to 10th, 2015. Two-stage cluster sampling was conducted. Data were collected during an individual interview at home after consent. They covered socio-economic conditions, health and nutrition status, gynecological-obstetrical history, and lifestyle. A multivariate analysis was performed using the Cox model with a 5% risk of alpha error. Results: A total of 627 postmenopausal women were surveyed. Mean age of these women was 54.5 years (±8.6 years). A proportion of 72.1% of the women was married and 46.7% was in school. Mean age of natural menopause was 47.1 years (±5.03 years). The median age of natural menopause was 47 years. Factors associated with the age of natural menopause were high parity of more than 4 children (Hra = 0.35 [0.13 - 0.92]), the existence of frequent childhood illnesses (Hra = 1.72 [1.13 - 2.64]), use of the intra-uterine device—IUD—as a modern contraceptive method (HRa = 0.39 [0.24 - 0.63]), sibling size (HRa = 0.85 [0.78 - 0.93]), family size (HRa = 1.03 [1.01 - 1.06]), and polygamy regime (HRa = 0.56 [0.37 - 0.85]). Conclusion: Many factors in childhood as well as during the period of female genital activity can impact the age of natural menopause. It is then important to improve the health status of women, children and the standard of living of the population.

Invasive Mole of the Uterus: A Case Report

Invasive mole is a rare subgroup of gestational trophoblastic disease characterized by the invasion of molar tissue into the myometrium or uterine vasculature. In this paper, we report the third case of invasive mole described in the Malagasy literature. A 33-year-old woman was referred to the Soavinandriana Hospital, her complaint was persistent vaginal bleeding during 2 months, occurring at 3 months of pregnancy with biological anemia without hemodynamic repercussions. The human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) level was 385,931 mIU/ml. A haemostasis hysterectomy was performed. Histological examination showed an enlarged uterus and endometrial cavity containing edematous chorionic villi with trophoblastic proliferation invading the myometrium. The diagnosis was an invasive mole, stage I, FIGO score 6. Chemotherapy was prescribed but was not honored. After 45 days of follow-up, the serum βHCG level decreased to 1803 mIU/ml, without clinical symptoms. The patient then lost sight. Persistent vaginal bleeding after pregnancy may be the only clinical symptom of an invasive mole and should raise suspicion. Histological examination establishes the diagnosis. As this is an unusual cause of vaginal bleeding, our case should remind physicians that when faced with this symptom, the possibility of an invasive mole should be considered in order to make an early diagnosis for less aggressive treatment.

Clinical Presentations and Outcome of Cardiovascular Emergencies in Yaounde: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Cardiovascular emergencies have become a public health problem with a high burden in low-income settings. This is due to the high rates of cardiovascular risk factors that are fast reaching epidemic?proportions. There is paucity of data on cardiovascular emergencies to guide repost strategies in our setting. Our aim was to determine the clinical presentation and outcome of cardiovascular emergencies at Yaounde Emergency Center.?Methods: We carried out this cross-sectional study between June 2015 and May 2017. We included all patients with confirmed cardiovascular emergency. We consecutively collected data on socio-demography, symptoms on admission, past history, clinical findings, and final diagnosis at discharge or in the event of death. Results: Of the 8285 patients admitted for medical emergencies, 388 (4.7%) were cardiovascular emergencies. Their mean age was 59.5 ± 13.8 years, and 59% were males. The Medical Emergency Aid Service was the means of transporting 4% of patients. The median time of arrival at the hospital was 48 hours. Symptoms on admission were mainly weakness of a limb (43.8%), and altered consciousness (33.5%). The most common cardiovascular emergencies were ischemic stroke (30.9%), hypertensive emergency (21.4%), and hemorrhagic stroke (16.5%). The most common comorbidity was diabetes (21.9%). The death rate in the 24 - 72 hours was 14.4%. The causes of death were hypertensive emergency (35.7%), and hemorrhagic stroke (30.3%). Conclusion: Stroke and hypertensive emergency were the most frequent cardiovascular emergencies. The early mortality was high. Hemorrhagic stroke and hypertensive emergencies accounted for most cases of death.

Cortical Blindness Following Neonatal Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy: Cases Series from Bamako

Purpose: Report of series of cases of cortical blindness that occurred after neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic by analysing its epidemiological frequency in black Africa. Methodology: This is the report of two clinical cases received in consultation on Monday 16th November 2020 and Thursday 7th January 2021 in the paediatric ophthalmology department of the IOTA-University Hospital. Results: They are two infants, aged 05 and 17 months respectively, who were brought in for consultation by their mother for lack of eye-tracking movement since birth. Both infants were born at term following a dystocic delivery. At birth, both infants had a very poor Apar score and were given a resuscitation treatment. The clinical examination coupled with the results of the paraclinical examinations allowed us to conclude at cortical blindness induced the neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy. Their therapeutic management, in collaboration with the neurologist, included the combination of piracetam suspension and Valproate sodium syrup. The evolution after three months of treatment is marked by the regression of epileptic seizures and the perception of light. Conclusion: In black Africa, neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy is the second leading cause of cortical blindness in children, after the neuromalaria sequels.

Fertilization practices can influence the quality of pineapple fruit and consequently its acceptability by consumers who are increasingly oriented towards high quality agri-food products. This study aimed at evaluating the influence of N, P and K on some physico-chemical and organoleptic characteristics of pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr) for fresh consumption and juice processing. A complete NPK factorial design was installed in the south Benin. The treatments NPK in g plant-1 were randomized into four blocks: T1;T2;T3;T4;T5;T6;T7;T8;T9. Brix juice was determined using a refractometer and pH with a pH meter. An evaluation of sensory characteristics such as sweetness, acid taste and aroma of fresh pineapple pulp and processed juice was made by a panel of tasters selected and trained. A principal components analysis, followed by a numerical classification was performed on fruits’ sensory and physicochemical characteristics. Results showed that juice pH was significantly influenced by the phosphorus and potassium. Potassium influenced significantly juice yield. Some physico-chemical characteristics and sensory attributes were correlated between them and groups of treatments are formed for both the juice and the fresh fruit.

Hydro-Sedimentary Dynamics of the Grand-Popo Lagoon Located Upstream of the Mobile Embouchure “Bouche du Roy” in South-Western Benin

The problems of flooding, bank erosion and even the breaching of the barrier beach by the Grand-Popo lagoon are a concern in the south-western Beninese river-lagoon complex. The present study aims to improve the knowledge of the factors controlling the hydro-sedimentary functioning of this lagoon of Grand-Popo. It was based on bathymetric and sedimentological studies and the analysis of physical-chemical parameters of the water and allowed to know the morphology of the lagoon bottom and the distribution of sedimentary facies according to the intensity of the water current. The salinity of the lagoon waters shows a west-east gradient passing thus from 0‰ to 0.78‰ in the main direction of flow. Over the whole lagoon system, the average liquid flows vary from -38.499 to 159.13 m3/s. The bathymetry indicates depths varying from 0.4 to 6.5 m, revealing type V and type U lagoon bottoms which reflect acute bottom concavities marked by hollowing under the effect of strong currents or by sandy terraces resulting from the continuous input of sediments carried by the Mono River. These sediments are heterogeneously distributed in the lagoon bottom and vary from free sand to mud. Given the complexity of the factors that control the hydro-sedimentary functioning of the Grand-Popo lagoon, it is recommended that periodic hydrological and bathymetric monitoring be carried out to locate exceptional variations in water levels to prevent not only the risks of overflowing lagoon waters and the flooding that follows but also spectacular erosion of the lagoon banks.

The collaboration tools offered by Cloud Computing have increased the need to share data and services within companies or between autonomous organizations. This has led to the deployment of community cloud infrastructures. However, several challenges will arise from this grouping of heterogeneous organizations. One of the main challenges is the management of trust between the actors of the community. Trust issues arise from the uncertainty about the quality of the resources and entities involved. The quality of a resource can be examined from a security or functional perspective. Therefore, ensuring security and monitoring the quality of resources is to ensure a high level of trust. Therefore, we propose in this paper a technique for dynamic trust management and quality monitoring of resources shared between organizations. Our approach consists, on the one hand, in evaluating the quality of resources based on quality of service measurement attributes and, on the other hand, in updating the trust values according to the information deduced from these measurements. The proposed framework is evaluated in terms of resource sharing success rate and execution time. Experimental results and comparison with TNA-SL and InterTrust models show that the framework can identify and track the behavior of malicious organizations with relatively low execution time.
