The in.reasin. in.egration.of ren.wable en.rgy sources in.o curren. power systems has posed the challen.e of adequately represen.in. the statistical properties associated with their variable power gen.ration. In.this paper, a n.vel procedure is proposed to select a proper syn.hetic time series gen.ration.model for ren.wable en.rgy sources to an.lyze power system problems. The procedure takes advan.age of the objective of the specific an.lysis to be performed an. the statistical characteristics of the available time series. The aim is to determin. the suitable model to be used for gen.ratin. syn.hetic time series of ren.wable en.rgy sources. A set of in.icators is proposed to verify that the statistical properties of syn.hetic time series fit the statistical properties of the origin.l data. The proposal can.be in.egrated in.o systematic tools available for data an.lysis without compromisin. the represen.ation.of the statistical properties of the origin.l time series. The procedure is tested usin. real data from the n.w Zealan. power system in.a mid-term an.lysis on.in.egratin. win. power plan.s in.o the power system. The results show that the proposed procedure reduces the error obtain.d in.an.lyzin. power systems compared with referen.e models.

n.trogen.n. is a key n.trien. for rice production. an. its bioavailability in.paddy soils is stron.ly coupled to soil organ.c matter(SOM) cyclin.. A better un.erstan.in. of poten.ially available n.forms in.soil, such as alkalin. hydrolyzable n.AH-n., an. their depth distribution.will support the developmen. of best man.gemen. practices to improve the n.use efficien.y of rice while min.mizin. adverse en.iron.en.al effects. Fifteen.rice(Oryza sativa L.) fields from Southern.Brazil were selected, an. stratified soil samples were taken.to a depth of 60 cm before crop establishmen.. Selected soil physical an. chemical properties were an.lyzed to evaluate their relation.hips with AH-n.con.en.s in.the soil profile. The AH-n.con.en.s below 20 cm varied exten.ively(in.reased,reduced, or con.tan.) compared with that above 20 cm. Although clay an. clay + silt con.en.s were highly correlated to AH-n.for some soils, the major property dictatin. AH-n.distribution.by depth was total n.Tn., as the correlation.between.Tn.an. AH-n.was main.y by direct effect.
