Wereport on.the colloidal an. rheological characterization.of suspen.ion. of commercial sin.le-walled carbon.n.n.tubes(SWCn.)an. oxidized sin.le walled carbon.n.n.tubes(SWCn.-oxi24h),in.water an. fetal bovin. serum(FBS).The effects of two surfactan.s,dodecyl-ben.en. sodium sulfon.te(SBDS)an. sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)at differen. con.en.ration.(0.5-2.0%)on.the zeta poten.ial an. the rheology of the suspen.ion. is also *** suspen.ion. were characterized by Tran.mission.Electron.Microscopy(TEM)an. Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM).The colloidal stability was determin.d by measuremen.s of zeta poten.ial in.the physiological pH ran.e 6.0n.s were implemen.ed at con.en.ration. of 1 an. 1.5 mg/ml,an. temperatures of 25℃,30℃,an. 37℃.The results obtain.d show that SWCn. suspen.ion. in.FBS,with an. without addition.of surfactan.s,depict a high ten.en.y to aggregate with the bovin. serum albumin.BSA),a processwe could further characterize usin. Molecular Dyn.mics(MD)*** suspen.ion. in.aqueous media show a n.gative zeta poten.ial between.60 an.−80 mV,whereas in.FBS the stability is lower,with values of-20 *** observed n. sign.fican. chan.es in.the zeta poten.ial with the differen. *** viscosity values obtain.d are smaller in.water than.in.FBS,demon.tratin. the higher stability in.water.

We experimen.ally study the tran.port properties of dipolar an. fun.amen.al modes on.on. dimen.ion.l(1D) coupled waveguide arrays. By carefully modulatin. a wide optical beam, we are able to effectively excite dipolar or fun.amen.al modes to study discrete diffraction.sin.le-site excitation. an. gaussian.beam propagation.multi-site excitation.plus a phase gradien.). We observe that dipolar modes experien.e a larger spreadin. area due to an.effective larger couplin. con.tan., which is foun. to be more than.two times larger than.the on. for fun.amen.al modes. Addition.lly, we study the effect of n.n.diagon.l disorder an. fin. that while fun.amen.al modes are already trapped on.a weakly disorder array, dipoles are still able to propagate across the system.

Abstract Forests have been.expan.in. over typical savan.a sites for the past 3000 years in.the n.otropics. Such in.asion.can.produce a series of en.iron.en.al modification. on.typical savan.a; however, it remain. un.lear how modification. in.soil properties, caused by the en.roachmen. of woody species, facilitate the expan.ion.of forest ecosystems un.er dystrophic con.ition.. Here we examin.d chemical an. microbiological chan.es associ- ated with tree en.roachmen. in.oxisols of a n.otropical Savan.a at Assis Ecological Station. Southeastern.Brazil. We predicted that tree en.roachmen. caused by typical forest species would cause sign.fican. chan.es in.the chemical an. microbiological properties of savan.a soils. Soils were sampled at Assis Ecological Station. from savan.a sites differin. in.tree en.roachmen. （typical, den.e an. forested savan.a） caused by decades of fire exclusion. We an.lysed vegetation.leaf area in.ex an. leaf litter volume deposited in.the studied plots an. chemical （pH,organ.c matter, P, K, Ca, Mg, A1, n.3-, n.4＋） an. microbiological （microbial C biomass an. dehydrogen.se activity） properties of soils un.er distin.t en.roachmen. con.ition.. Most soil chemical properties did n.t chan.e alon. the tree en.roachmen. gradien.; however, total P, soil organ.c matter, soil microbial C an. dehydrogen.se activity in.reased from typical savan.a to forested savan.a. The chan.es in.soil organ.c matter an. dehydrogen.se activity were correlated with the values of leaf area in.ex an. litter volume alon. the en.roachmen. gradien.. Our results demon.trate that forest species can.in.rease carbon.an. phosphorus supplies in.tropical savan.a soils.
