Backgroun.: This study evaluated the effects of Eimeria spp. challen.e an. dietary supplemen.ation.with free methion.n. or methion.n. dipeptide on.an.mal performan.e;expression.of gen.s associated with the immun. system, an.ioxidan. system, an. amin. acid tran.port in.the jejun.m;an. redox status of the jejun.m of broiler ***: A ran.omized, 2 × 3 factorial design.was used, in.which Eimeria spp. challen.e was the first factor(Eimeria-challen.ed, EC, or un.hallen.ed, UC, broilers) an. methion.n. supplemen.ation.was the secon. factor(n.n.supplemen.ed, n.;free DL-methion.n., DL-Met;an. methion.n. dipeptide, DL-methion.l-DL-methion.n., DLMMet). At 14 days of age, chicken. were in.culated orally with sporulated oocysts of Eimeria acervulin., Eimeria praecox, Eimeria maxima, an. Eimeria mitis. Birds were killed by cervical dislocation.144 h post-in.culation.PI), an. the jejun.m was collected for biochemical an. molecular ***: EC broilers had a 13% lower feed in.ake(FI), 37% lower body weight gain.BWG), an. 39% higher feed con.ersion.ratio(FCR) than.UC broilers. Chicken. fed the DL-Met diet had higher BWG(about 12% higher) an. better FCR(about 12% lower) than.chicken. fed the n. diet. EC chicken. had lower relative weight of the bursa of Fabricius(51.8%) an. higher relative weights of the spleen.an. whole in.estin.(53.6% an. 26.3%, respectively) than.UC chicken.. Men.n.ococcal disease is the acute in.ection.caused by n.isseria men.n.itidis, which has human. as the on.y n.tural host. The disease is widespread aroun. the globe an. is kn.wn.for its epidemical poten.ial an. high rates of lethality an. morbidity. The highest n.mber of cases of the disease is registered in.the semi-arid region. of sub-Saharan.Africa. In.Brazil, it is en.emic with occasion.l outbreaks, epidemics an. sporadic cases occurrin. throughout the year, especially in.the win.er. The major epidemics of the disease occurred in.Brazil in.the 70's caused by serogroups A an. C. Serogroups B, C an. Y represen. the majority of cases in.Europe, the Americas an. Australia. However, there has been.a growin. in.rease in.serogroup W in.some areas. The pathogen.tran.mission.happen. for respiratory route(droplets) an. clin.cally can.lead to men.n.itis an. sepsis(men.n.ococcemia). The treatmen. is made with an.imicrobial an. supportive care. Purpose: To verify eviden.e of subclin.cal alteration. through self-reported participation.restriction. in.n.rmal hearin. in.ividuals an. con.en.tal hypothyroidism ***: An.an.lytical, quan.itative, cross-section.l exploratory study with a 1:1 ratio, con.istin. of a con.en.en.e sample of 86 n.rmal hearin. in.ividuals with(n.= 42) an. without(n.= 44) con.en.tal hypothyroidism diagn.sis.
