Winter Oilseed Crops after Soybeans as Tools for Weed Management in Brazilian Savannah Cropping Systems

We aimed with this study to evaluate the potential of oilseed crops planted following soybean, in terms of their ability to inhibit the occurrence of weed species under Brazilian Savannah cropping systems. The long-term experiment was installed in 2010 at Dourados, MS, Brazil, and in completely randomized blocks design with five replications with 12 × 24 m plot size. For three consecutive years (2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13), soybeans were planted in all the area by October/November being harvested in February/March, when previously marked plots were planted in April with: (1) radish (Raphanus sativus);(2) rapeseed (Brassica napus);(3) crambe (Crambe abyssinica);(4) winter fallow-no plantation after soybeans. In all years the same crop was repeated at the same plots, with no crop rotation. Phytosociological characterization of weed species was carried out in winter (after oilseeds harvest), pre-planting and post-emergence of soybean for the three years. Relative abundance, frequency and dominance, as well as the importance value for each species, was obtained. Areas were also intra-characterized by the coefficients of Simpson, Shannon-Weiner and Shannon-Weiner’s Evenness Proportion, and areas were compared for species dissimilarity with Jaccard’s presence-only coefficient, by multivariate cluster analysis. Oilseed crops definitely contribute for sustainable weed management as a cultural tool. The most important oilseed crop weeds in the Savannah-like region of Brazil were Amaranthus hybridus, Richardia brasiliensis, Lepidium virginicum, Leonotis nepetifolia and Hybanthus parviflorus. After three years of repetitive crop succession, some weeds were selected, and rotation in Winter is advised at least every two or three years.

Allelopathic Potential of Wheat on Sourgrass Resistant to Glyphosate

We aimed with this study to assay the allelopathic potential of wheat genotypes in inhibiting germination and initial growth of sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) resistant to the herbicide glyphosate. Two experiments were installed under greenhouse conditions: the first one aimed to assay the potential of wheat genotypes in inhibiting emergence and initial growth of two test plants, and the second aimed to evaluate the potential of those wheat genotypes which performed better at the first experiment, inhibiting the emergence and initial growth of sourgrass biotypes resistant to the herbicide glyphosate. Five doses of aqueous cool-extracted extract from 32 wheat genotypes were applied to tomato and cucumber (Experiment 1) aiming to identify the ones with higher inhibitory effect. The five most inhibitory wheat genotypes were selected for Experiment 2, where the same doses of extract were applied on sourgrass. For both experiments, shoot fresh and dry mass, as well as water content, were assessed. Sourgrass germination is affected by wheat extracts, but initial seedling growth seems not to be affected;wheat genotypes differ in terms of their allelopathic potential in inhibiting sourgrass germination;wheat presents little inhibitory effect on sourgrass.

The inflammatory pattern during Helicobacter pylori(***)infection is changeable and *** childhood,it is possible to observe a predominantly regulatory response,evidenced by high concentrations of key cytokines for the maintenance of Treg responses such as TGF-β1 and IL-10,in addition to high expression of the transcription factor *** the other hand,there is a predominance of cytokines associated with the Th1 and Th17 responses among ***-positive *** the last few years,the participation of the Th17 response in the gastric inflammation against *** infection has been highlighted due to the high levels of TGF-β1 and IL-17 found in this infectious scenario,and growing evidence has supported a close relationship between this immune response profile and unfavorable outcomes related to the ***,this cytokine profile might play a pivotal role in the effectiveness of *** *** is evident that age is one of the main factors influencing the gastric inflammatory pattern during the infection with ***,and understanding the immune response against the bacterium can assist in the development of alternative prophylactic and therapeutic strategies against the infection as well as in the comprehension of the pathogenesis of the outcomes related to that microorganism.

Intra-abdominal infections can be classified into uncomplicated or complicated(peritonitis). Peritonitis is divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary. Tertiaryperitonitis is the less common but the most severe among peritonitisstratifications, being defined as a recurrent intra-abdominal infection that occurs48 h after a well-succeeded control of a secondary peritonitis. This disease has acomplex pathogenesis that is closely related to the capacity of the peritonealcavity to activate immunological processes. Patients who progress to persistentperitonitis are at an increased risk of developing several infectious complicationssuch as sepsis and multiple organ failure syndrome. Moreover, tertiary peritonitisremains an important cause of hospital death mainly among patients withassociated risk factors. The microbiological profile of organisms causing tertiaryperitonitis is often different from that observed in other types of peritonitis. Inaddition, there is a high prevalence of multidrug-resistant pathogens causing thiscondition, and an appropriate and successful clinical management depends on anearly diagnosis, which can be made easier with the use of clinical scorespresenting a good prediction value during the intensive care unit ***, immediate therapy should be performed to control theinfectious focus and to prevent new recurrences. In this sense, the treatment isbased on initial antimicrobial therapy and well-performed peritoneal drainage.

BACKGROUND Group B Streptococcus(GBS)is a normal component of the gastrointestinal and genital microbiota in humans and can lead to important infections in *** To compare GBS isolation and identification methods as well as to assess the antibiotic susceptibility and to identify resistance genes in GBS strains from pregnant women attended in healthcare services from the city of Vitória da Conquista,in Bahia State,*** From January 2017 to February 2018,vaginorectal swabs were obtained from 186 participants and the samples were seeded onto chromogenic agar for GBS before and after inoculation in selective *** identification using 3 CAMP and latex tests was performed in samples with GBS-suggestive ***,disk diffusion antibiograms were performed in GBS-positive samples,and the detection of the resistance genes ermB,ermTR,mefA,and linB in the clindamycin and/or erythromycin-resistant samples was carried *** Thirty-two samples(17.2%)were *** culture in chromogenic agar after sample incubation in selective broth was the most sensitive method(96.9%)for GBS *** isolates were susceptible to penicillin,ampicillin,cefotaxime,and *** resistance was observed in 6 samples(18.8%),while 8 samples(25%)were *** erythromycin and/or clindamycin-resistant GBS strains had negative *** strains(25%)presented an M phenotype and 6 isolates(75%)presented a cMLSB *** ermB gene was identified in 4 samples(44.4%),the mefA gene was also found in 4 samples(44.4%),the ermTR gene was identified in 1 isolate(11.1%),and the linB gene was not found in any *** This study evidenced that the screening for SGB can be performed by means of various methods,including chromogenic media,and that the chemoprophylaxis for pregnant women who cannot use penicillin must be susceptibility-guided.

Obtaining Thin Film of SnO2/Cu2O and Characterization by X-Ray Diffraction

Thin films of tin and copper oxide forming heterojunction are being studied for applications in photovoltaic systems. The procedure for obtaining such a film was based on the technique of spray pyrolysis with working temperature of 600 ℃. The XRD （X-ray diffraction） showed the formation of tin oxides （SnO2） and copper （Cu2O） and its structural parameters are a, b and c, 4.7534 A^°, 4.7534 A^°, 3.1998 A^° （tetragonal form） and 4.2580 A^°, 4.2580 A^°, 4.2580 A^° （cubic form）, respectively. Highseore Plus program was used for phase identification and DBWSTool2.4 program used for refinement. The grain size was estimated by Williamson-Hall.
