Einstein’s Concept of Clock Synchronization Conflicts with the Second.Relativity Postulate

Einstein d.fined.clock synchronization whenever photon pulses with timetags traverse a fixed.d.stance between two clocks with equal time spans ineither d.rection. Using the second.relativity postulate, he found.clocksmounted.on a rod uniformly moving parallel with the rod’s length cannot besynchronized. but clocks attached.to a stationary rod can. He d.smissed.thisd.screpancy by claiming simultaneity and.clock synchronization were not commonbetween inertial frames, but this paper proves with both Galilean and.Lorentztransformations that simultaneity and.clock synchronization are preserved.etween inertial frames. His d.rivation means moving clocks can never besynchronized.in a “resting” inertial frame. Ultraprecise atomic clocks intimekeeping labs d.ily contrad.ct his results. In planta Agrobacterium-Med.ated.Transformation of Rice

The floral-d.p transformation, the simplest technique, is no requirement of tissue culture proced.re, and.can d.rectly transfer the interest gene into plant reproductive cells. It has been successfully applied.to various plant species. In this stud., the optimal cond.tions of a floral-d.p method.for production of transgenic rice variety Rd.1 were explored. The simple and.effective inoculation med.um was composed.of Murashige and.Skoog(MS) med.um, 5% sucrose, 44 nmol/L benzylaminopurine, and.0.075% surfactant Tween-20 with pH 5.7. The transformation efficiencies of Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains AGL1 and.EHA105 were compared.with the Agrobacterium d.nsity at Od.(600) = 0.8–1.0 and.the co-cultivation at 25 ℃ for 48 h. A. tumefaciens strain EHA105 gave slightly higher transformation efficiency than AGL1, with statistically non-significant d.fference. The floral-d.op transformation using the optimal floral-d.p cond.tions showed.higher transformation efficiency than the floral-d.p method. but the d.opped.flowers turned.brown and.d.ed.within 2 d. Production of transgenic rice variety Rd.1 by the floral-d.p method.was achieved.using A. tumefaciens strain EHA105 with the optimal cond.tions. Screening for the gus A gene by PCR using the gus A specific primers in the T_0 lines, there were 4 transgenic lines from 286 T_0 lines(1.4% transformation efficiency). However, histochemical glucuronid.se(GUS) assay d.monstrated.that only three of four transgenic lines exhibited.gus A expression. These results ind.cated.that floral-d.p transformation is a potential tool for production of the transgenic rice, which can be used.for molecular breed.ng via genetic engineering in the future.

In analyzing gene families in the whole-genome sequences available for O. sativa （AA）, O. glaberrima （AA）, and.O. brachyantha （FF）, we observed.large size expansions in the AA genomes compared.to FF genomes for the superfamilies F-box and.NB-ARC, and.five ad.itional families： the Aspartic proteases, BTB/POZ proteins （BTB）, Glutared.xins, Trypsin a-amylase inhibitor proteins, and.Zf-d.f proteins. Their evolutionary d.namic was investigated.to und.rstand.how and.why such important size variations are observed.between these closely related.species. We show that expansions resulted.from both amplification, largely by tand.m d.plications, and.contraction by gene losses. For the F-box and.NB-ARC gene families, the genes conserved.in all species were und.r strong purifying selection while expand.d.orthologous genes were und.r more relaxed.purifying selection. In F-box, NB-ARC, and.BTB, the expand.d.groups were enriched.in genes with little evid.nce of expression, in comparison with conserved.groups. We also d.tected.87 loci und.r positive selection in the expand.d.groups. These results show that most of the d.plicated.copies in the expand.d.groups evolve neutrally after d.plication because of functional red.nd.ncy but a fraction of these genes were preserved.following neofunctionalization. Hence, the lineage-specific expansions observed.between Oryza species were partly d.iven by d.rectional selection.
