Contribution of the MeRISe-Type Conceptual Data Model to the Construction of Monitoring and evaluation Indicators of the effectiveness of Training in Relation to the Needs of the Labor Market in the Republic of Congo

This study proposes the use of the MeRISe conceptual data model to create indicators for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of vocational training in the Republic of Congo. The importance of MeRISe for structuring and analyzing data is underlined, as it enables the measurement of the adequacy between training and the needs of the labor market. The innovation of the study lies in the adaptation of the MeRISe model to the local context, the development of innovative indicators, and the integration of a participatory approach including all relevant stakeholders. Contextual adaptation and local innovation: The study suggests adapting MeRISe to the specific context of the Republic of Congo, considering the local particularities of the labor market. Development of innovative indicators and new measurement tools: It proposes creating indicators to assess skills matching and employer satisfaction, which are crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of vocational training. Participatory approach and inclusion of stakeholders: The study emphasizes actively involving training centers, employers, and recruitment agencies in the evaluation process. This participatory approach ensures that the perspectives of all stakeholders are considered, leading to more relevant and practical outcomes. Using the MeRISe model allows for: • Rigorous data structuring, organization, and standardization: Clearly defining entities and relationships facilitates data organization and standardization, crucial for effective data analysis. • Facilitation of monitoring, analysis, and relevant indicators: Developing both quantitative and qualitative indicators helps measure the effectiveness of training in relation to the labor market, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation. • Improved communication and common language: By providing a common language for different stakeholders, MeRISe enhances communication and collaboration, ensuring that all parties have a shared understanding. Diagnosis of Lead Pollution of Surface Waters of a River: Case of the Djiri River in the Republic of Congo

This research work focuses on the physico-chemical analysis of surface water from the Djiri River with the aim of preventing the population against possible water pollution. The analysis of samples taken from the Djiri river revealed the presence of lead in these waters at levels exceeding the WHO guideline values: an average annual pollution (0.93 mg/l) which is visibly higher than the value. WHO guide (0.01 mg/l) in situ data from the Djiri River revealed a significant drop in flow between the 2016 period characterized by a divergence index of 0.82344, thus highlighting a hydrological situation for which national hydrological stakeholders will absolutely have to implement measures, remedial measures or mechanisms to protect this river against possible disappearance by elimination of lead in the water.

Optical Properties of Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon Films and Their Potential for Lab-on-a-Chip

In this study, tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) films with thicknesses between several 100 nm and several micrometers have been deposited onto polished tungsten carbide and steel substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) using an excimer laser (248 nm wavelength). We investigate the optical properties (e.g. the refractive index (n) and extinction coefficient (k) in the visible and near-infrared wavelength range) of these layers in dependence of the used laser ablation fluence on the target. It is shown that n of ~2000 nm thick ta-C films can be tuned, depending on the sp3-content, between n = 2.5 and 2.8 at a wavelength of 632 nm. Besides of this k reduces with the sp3-content and is as low as 0.03 at sp3-contents of more than 75%. We proof that this gives the opportunity to prepare coating with tailored optical properties. Furthermore, it is shown that the ta-C films have low background fluorescence in the wavelengths range of 380 - 750 nm, which make this thin films attractive for certain optical, medical and biotechnological applications. We present for the first time that one possible application is the use in Lab-on-a-Chip-systems (LOC). Within these systems, the ultrasensitive detection of fluorescence markers and dyes is a challenge. In order to increase the signal-to-noise-ratio, a setup was developed, that used the specific optical properties of ta-C films produced by PLD. We used the ta-C film as an integrated reflector that combined low background fluorescence, a low reflectivity at the excitation wavelength and the high reflectivity at the emission wavelength. We prove that this setup improves the detection of fluorescence photons.

Hematological and Biochemical Profile of Sickle Cell Patients in Critical and Inter-Critical Periods in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo

Introduction: Sickle cell disease is a public health problem in the Republic of Congo where the prevalence of sickle cell trait is estimated at 1.25%. The objective of this study is to describe the variations of hematological and biochemical parameters of hemolysis in sickle cell patients in critical and inter-critical periods. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study including sickle cell patients followed regularly at the National Reference Center for Sickle Cell Disease (CNRDr) from November 2019 to March 2020. A sample of 167 patients (sickle cell subjects in crisis and in steady state as well as control subjects) was randomly selected during the study period. The blood count was performed using a Sysmex-XN 350 automated system and the biochemical parameters were determined using the Cobas e 311 automated system. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS version 22 software. Results: The study showed that the mean cholesterol level in controls was 4.16 ± 0.77 ul compared with 9.64 ± 4.34 ul in sickle cell crisis subjects. Hb and HCT levels were significantly higher in controls compared with sickle cell subjects in crisis. During crisis, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, triglycerides, LDH, AST, and CRP were significantly elevated. Hematological parameters such as Hb and HCT were elevated in controls, while the mean WBC value and RET were higher in sickle cell patients in steady state. The mean values of the biochemical parameters were higher in sickle cell patients in steady state. Antibacterial Properties of Crateva adansonii (Capparidaceae) on Strains Isolated from Chronic Wounds Diagnosed in the Commune of Ouinhi in 2021

Plants have always been used by people for therapeutic purposes. They are still the main source of therapeutic substances in developing countries. Crateva adansonii, a member of the Capparidaceae family, is a medicinal plant with antibacterial properties used in Benin. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of an aqueous extract of C. adansonii on bacterial strains isolated from chronic wounds in the Ouinhi population. To achieve this, the bacterial flora present in chronic wounds was identified using the Ikram method (2014) coupled with the API Remoel One method. The antibacterial properties of the aqueous extract of C. adansonii on the microbial strains isolated were then assessed by determining the Inhibition Diameters (ID), the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) and finally the Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations (MBC). A total of eighty (80) strains were isolated and identified on the basis of morphological, cultural and biochemical characteristics. The species S. Aureus species accounted for the largest proportion (67.5%). Other species such as Listeria sp, Pseudomonas proteus, S. epidermidis and Bacillus cereus, Citrobacter freundii, Steno maltophila;Axin calcoaceticus, e. coli, K. pneumonia, Lem. richardii, Salmonella paratyphi A, Salmonella sp, Shigella sp were determined in variable proportions. At a concentration of 10 mg/ml, only S. aureus was sensitive to contact with the extract. However, at 20 mg/ml, 89% of strains were sensitive and 11% very sensitive. The highly sensitive strains are Salmonella sp and e. coli. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) are 20 mg/ml and 40 mg/ml respectively. The MBC/MIC ratio of the aqueous mixture of Crateva adansonii (Capparidaceae) varied from 1.2 to 2, with a bactericidal effect on 100% of the strains tested.

Vegetables are very important sources of protein and minerals. Some of them even have medicinal properties recognized traditionally. Despite the large number of studies carried out on various vegetables and vegetable crops, very few have scientifically explored the usefulness of S. macrocarpon. This study identified the main groups of chemicals and mineral elements to explain any medicinal or nutritional value. It has also identified some toxic elements contained in this vegetable. Phytochemical screening was carried out on the leaves and fruits of S. macrocarpon. Some mineral elements were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium) while protein, phosphorous, iron, copper, zinc and toxic metals (lead, cadmium) were determined by Molecular Absorption Spectrophotometry. Fat, ash, moisture and vitamins were sought. The study showed that the leaves of S. macrocarpon were more nutritious than fruits (P macrocarpon require that the consumption of vegetables should be as varied as possible and that the fruit may be consumed with caution. In addition, constraints about vegetable cultivation in Cotonou could lead to research findings that could help provide techniques for producing healthy *** A and K1 were found in both parts of this vegetable very rich in water while vitamin e has not been detected. S. macrocarpon also contains lipids at various levels.
