In vivo 3D fluorescent image remains a technological barrier for biologists and clinical scientists although green fluorescent protein(GFP)imaging has long been performed rather well at cellular ***,robust enough portable devices are also challenging lab-on-a-chip advocators who wish their designs to be nurtured by the end *** work is dedicated to propose a conceptually innovated transparent soft PDMS avian eggshell to directly tackle the above two ***,an"egg-on-a-chip"scheme is originally developed and demonstrated by a newly developed PDMS"soft"process *** its ancestor–the conventional"lab-on-a-chip"(LOC)which is basically chemically based,the current"egg-on-a-chip",intrinsically inherited with biological natures,opens a way to integrate biological parts or whole system in a miniature sized *** biomimics system contains much condensed environmental evolutional tensor inside than those of the existing LOC compacted with artificial components which however are quite difficult to incorporate various life factors *** unique advantages,a series of transparent PDMS whole"eggshells"have been fabricated and applied to culture avian embryos up to 17.5 days and chimeric eggshells were engineered on normal *** addition,X-stage embryos were successfully initiated in such system and pre-chorioallantoic membrane was ***,limitation of the present process was interpreted and potential approach to improve it was *** both high optical transparency and engineering subtlety fully integrated together,the present method not only provides an ideal transparent imaging platform for studying functional embryo development including life mystery,but also promises a future strategy for"lab-on-an-egg"technology which may be important in a wide variety of either fundamental or practical areas.

A computationally efficient hybrid finite-volume/finite-difference method is proposed for the numerical solution of SaintVenant equations in one-dimensional open channel flows. The method adopts a mass-conservative finite volume discretization for the continuity equation and a semi-implicit finite difference discretization for the dynamic-wave momentum equation. The spatial discretization of the convective flux term in the momentum equation employs an upwind scheme and the water-surface gradient term is discretized using three different schemes. The performance of the numerical method is investigated in terms of efficiency and accuracy using various examples, including steady flow over a bump, dam-break flow over wet and dry downstream channels, wetting and drying in a parabolic bowl, and dam-break floods in laboratory physical models. Numerical solutions from the hybrid method are compared with solutions from a finite volume method along with analytic solutions or experimental measurements. Comparisons demonstrates that the hybrid method is efficient, accurate, and robust in modeling various flow scenarios, including subcritical, supercritical, and transcritical flows. In this method, the QUICK scheme for the surface slope discretization is more accurate and less diffusive than the center difference and the weighted average schemes.

As extreme weather events have become more frequent in recent years,improving the resilience and reliability of power systems has become an important area of *** this paper,a robust preventive-corrective security-constrained optimal power flow(RO-PCSCOPF)model is proposed to improve power system reliability under N−k *** the short-term emergency limit(STL)and the long-term operating limit(LTL)of the post-contingency power flow on the branch are *** with the existing robust corrective SCOPF model that only considers STL or LTL,the proposed ROPCSCOPF model can achieve a more reliable generation dispatch *** addition,this paper also summarizes and compares the solution methods for solving the N−k SCOPF *** computational efficiency of the classical Benders decomposition(BD)method,robust optimization(RO)method,and line outage distribution factor(LODF)method are investigated on the IEEE 24-bus Reliability Test System and 118-bus *** results show that the BD method has the worst computation *** RO method and the LODF method have comparable ***,the LODF method can only be used for the preventive SCOPF and not for the corrective *** RO method can be used for both.

The remediation of wastewater requires treatment technologies which are robust, efficient,simple to operate and affordable such as adsorption. Lately, three-dimensional(3D)graphene based materials have attracted significant attention as effective adsorbents for wastewater treatment. The intrinsic properties of 3D graphene structure such as large surface area and interconnected porous structure can facilitate the transport of pollutants into the 3D network and provide abundant active sites for trapping the pollutants. For the synthesis of 3D graphene structure, ice-templating is commonly practiced due to its facile steps, cost effectiveness and high scalability potential. This review covers the icetemplating fabrication technique for 3D graphene based materials and their application as adsorbents in eliminating dyes and heavy metals from aqueous media. The assembly mechanisms of the ice-templating fsynthesis are comprehensively discussed. Further discussion on the fundamental principles, critical process parameters and characteristics of ice-templated 3D graphene structures is also included. A thorough review on the mechanisms for batch adsorption of dyes and heavy metals is presented based on the structures and properties of the 3D graphene materials. The review further evaluates the dynamic adsorption in packed columns and the regeneration of 3D graphene based materials.

Determining required sample size is one of the critical pathways to reproducible,reliable and robust results in human-related *** paper aims to answer a fundamental but often overlooked question:what sample size is required in surveys of occupant responses to indoor environmental quality(IEQ).The statistical models are introduced in order to promote determining required sample size for various types of data analysis methods commonly used in IEQ field *** Monte Carlo simulations are performed to verify the statistical methods and to illustrate the impact of sample size on the study accuracy and *** examples are presented to illustrate how to determine the value of the parameters in the statistical models based on previous similar research or existing *** required sample size including“worst”and“optimal”cases in each condition is obtained by this method and *** is indicated that 385 is a“worst case”sample size to be adequate for a subgroup analysis,while if the researcher has an estimate of the study design and outcome,the“optimal case”sample size can potentially be *** the required sample size is not achievable,the uncertainty in the result can properly interpret via a confidence *** is hoped that this paper would fill in the gap between statistical analysis of sample size and IEQ field research,and it can provide a useful reference for researchers when planning their own studies.

Currently,most teleoperation work is focusing on scenarios where slave robots interact with unknown ***,in some fields such as medical robots or rescue robots,the other typical teleoperation application is precise object ***,the object’s weight is unknown yet essential for both accurate control of the slave robot and intuitive perception of the human ***,due to high cost and limited installation space,it is unreliable to employ a force sensor to directly measure the ***,in this paper,a control scheme free of force sensor is proposed for teleoperation robots to transfer a weight-unknown object *** this scheme,the workspace mapping between master and slave robot is firstly established,based on which,the operator can generate command trajectory on-line by operating the master ***,a slave controller is designed to follow the master command closely and estimate the object’s weight rapidly,accurately and robust to unmodeled ***,for the sake of telepresence,a master controller is designed to generate force feedback to reproduce the estimated weight of the *** the end,comparative experiments show that the proposed scheme can achieve better control accuracy and telepresence,with accurate force feedback generated in only 500 ms.

The interlayer spacing(i.e.,d-spacing)plays a crucial role in determining the selectivity and permeability of nanofiltration membranes.A high-throughput directional filtration can be achieved by designing and controlling the *** this study,the d-spacing of a graphene oxide(GO)membrane was tuned and fixed to the desired value(approximately 0.79 nm)using a solution of polyethyleneimine(PEI)and GO at a PEI/GO mass ratio of15:*** resultant PEI/GO was deposited on a polyacrylonitrile(PAN)substrate to form a robust composite nanofiltration membrane(a PEI/GO@PAN membrane).The as-prepared membrane exhibited an ultrahigh flux of117.8 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1),and the rejection values for Direct Red80(DR80)and Na_(2)SO_(4)reached 99.7%and<1.7%,respectively;these are desirable values for dye/salt *** PEI/GO@PAN membrane exhibited an excellent filtration performance,and had a longer lifespan and excellent reusability because of its reinforced *** work suggested that tuning the d-spacing with PEI would be an effective strategy to achieve the anticipated functions of nanofiltration membranes.

Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)poses a significant challenge due to the lack of reliable prognostic gene signatures and an understanding of its immune ***:We analyzed clinical information and mRNA expression data from 162 TNBC patients in TCGA-BRCA and 320 patients in *** weighted gene coexpression network analysis,we pinpointed 34 TNBC immune genes linked to *** least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression method identified key TNBC immune candidates for prognosis *** calculated chemotherapy sensitivity scores using the“pRRophetic”package in R software and assessed immunotherapy response using the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion ***:In this study,34 survival-related TNBC immune gene expression profiles were identified.A least absolute shrinkage and selection operator-Cox regression model was used and 15 candidates were prioritized,with a concomitant establishment of a robust risk immune *** high-risk TNBC immune groups showed increased sensitivity to therapeutic agents like RO-3306,Tamoxifen,Sunitinib,JNK Inhibitor VIII,XMD11-85h,BX-912,and *** analysis of the Search Tool for Interaction of Chemicals database revealed the associations between the high-risk group and signaling pathways,such as those involving Rap1,Ras,and *** low-risk group showed a higher immunotherapy response rate,as observed through the tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion analysis in the TCGA-TNBC and METABRIC-TNBC ***:This study provides insights into the immune complexities of TNBC,paving the way for novel diagnostic approaches and precision treatment methods that exploit its immunological intricacies,thus offering hope for improved management and outcomes of this challenging disease.

Achieving accurate navigation information by integrating multiple sensors is key to the safe operation of land vehicles in global navigation satellite system(GNSS)-denied ***,current multi-sensor fusion methods are based on stovepipe architecture,which is optimized with custom fusion strategy for specific *** to develop adaptable navigation that allows rapid integration of any combination of sensors to obtain robust and high-precision navigation solutions in GNSS-denied environment,we propose a generic plug-and-play fusion strategy to estimate land vehicle *** proposed strategy can handle different sensors in a plug-and-play manner as sensors are abstracted and represented by generic models,which allows rapid reconfiguration whenever a sensor signal is additional or lost during *** estimations are fused with absolute sensors based on improved factor graph,which includes sensors’error parameters in the non-linear optimization process to conduct sensor online *** evaluate the performance of our approach using a land vehicle equipped with a global positioning system(GPS)receiver as well as inertial measurement unit(IMU),camera,wireless sensor and *** is not integrated into the system but treated as ground *** are compared with the most common filtering-based fusion *** shows that our strategy can process low-quality input sources in a plug-and-play and robust manner and its performance outperforms filtering-based method in GNSS-denied environment.
