Zeyheria tuberculosa(Vell.)Bureau ex *** among the Brazilian flora threatened with *** has high-quality wood and can be used to recover herbicidecontaminated ***,abiotic stresses can harm seed germination and seedling development under adverse conditions and need to be understood to improve autochthonous or indigenous biodiversity conservation and strengthen reforestation *** study evaluated the effects of temperature,water and saline stress on *** seed germination and water stress on seedling *** laboratory experiments evaluated germination under:(1)different temperatures(20,25,30,35 and 40℃);(2)different water potentials simulated with polyethylene glycol(PEG6000)at 25 and 30℃;and,(3)different osmotic potentials simulated with NaCl at 25 and 30℃.In addition,a greenhouse experiment subjected seedlings to five water regimes(20%,35%,50%,65%and 80%of maximum substrate water holding capacity).In the laboratory,seedling biometry and germination were evaluated,while physiological and morphological parameters were assessed in the *** potential of seeds increased at 25 and 30℃.Germination and vigor decreased as water and saline stresses *** tolerance thresholds for water and salt stresses were-0.6 and-0.4 MPa,*** the greenhouse,the most restrictive water regimes reduced seedling physiological and morphological *** development was compromised at moisture levels below50%field capacity.

Plague,caused by the Yersinia pestis bacterium,has several foci scattered throughout a large area from the Brazilian territory that ranges from the Northeastern State of Cearáto the Southeastern State ofMinas Gerais and another separated area at the State of Rio de *** review gathers data from plague control and surveillance programs on the occurrence and geographic distribution of rodent hosts and flea vectors in the Brazilian plague areas during the period of from 1952 to ***,we discuss how the interaction between *** and some rodent host species may play a role in the disease *** absence of human cases nowadays in Brazil does not mean that it was *** dynamics of plague in Brazil and in other countries where it was introduced during the 3rd pandemic are quite alike,alternating epidemics with decades of ***,it remains an important epidemic disease of global *** existence of a large animal reservoir and competent vectors demonstrate a need for continuous surveillance to prevent new outbreaks of this disease in humans.

The coke plant of a steel plant corresponds to the area that transforms a blend of coal into coke for using in blast furnace and steam to power plant. The coking plant of ThyssenKrupp CSA uses the heat recovery technology with stamping charger for stamping and preparation a blend of coals for charging and coking. Stamping technology adds several benefits to the process, such as increased density, homogeneity and alignment of the coal cake charged into the oven, as well as provides better control of the coking process, improves parameters of coke quality and allows coal blending with lower coking power, thereby reducing the production cost of coke and power generation. Through the automation of stamping charger, it is possible to evaluate and calculate the stamped coal density charged and the productivity gains this system provides.

A new electroanalytical procedure was developed for the determination of Benzophenone-3 (BENZO) in commercial sunscreen as the active ingredient. The procedure is based on the use of electrochemical methods as cyclic and square-wave voltammetry, with boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes. The reduction of BENZO in Britton-Robinson buffer (0.1 mol●L–1) using this type of electrode gives rise to one irreversible peak in –1.30 V (versus Ag/AgCl) in presence of cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr). The proposed electrochemical method was successfully applied to the analysis of commercially available pharmaceutical preparations.

The environmental damage arising from the construction and engineering services was responsible for the appearance of several norms and resolutions regulating and directing the sector’s performance. In this article, we research how professionals with experience in public bids assess the difficulty degree of the implementation of those requirements and how they assess the environmental legislation regarding the protection and conservation of the environment, impact on costs, deadlines and the solution to environmental problems. The results show that industry professionals consider as “high” the level of difficulty to implement the addressed sustainability requirements, and that the Brazilian environmental legislation does not comply with its environmental protection role, increases the possibility of delays and costs of projects and services and hampers the emergence of solutions that could solve environmental problems.

Ilha Grande Bay is one of the biggest producers of bivalves of Rio de Janeiro State. Statistics reports of foodborne diseases are quite low in Brazil, however, this fact is a matter of Public Health. In their majority concerning consumption of bivalves meat, the availability of safe products requires the use of technology as food irradiation. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the presence of bacteria resulting from the environmental contamination and epidemiological importance, Salmonella spp., total and faecal coliforms of mussel （Perna perna） from that region and the use of irradiation on the product in natura. fifteen indicative samples of mussel were collected from five gr owing points in Ilha Grande Bay. A sample of each point was irradiated with doses of 1.0 and 1.5 kGy. The bacteriological analysis followed the instructions of the Brazilian legislation. The samples presented irregularities in relation to Salmonella spp. and faecal coliforms, the latter for the control group. The control group was noticed as not appropriate for consumption. The dose of 1.0 kGy was effective for the reduction of faecal coliforms, but ineffective for the extinction of Salmonella spp.

Hepatic fibrosis is considered a common response to many chronic hepatic injuries. It is a multifunctional process that involves several cell types, cytokines, chemokines and growth factors leading to a disruption of homeostatic mechanisms that maintain the liver ecosystem. In spite of many studies regarding the development of fibrosis, the understanding of the pathogenesis remains obscure. The hepatic tissue remodeling process is highly complex, resulting from the balance between collagen degradation and synthesis. Among the many mediators that take part in this process, the components of the Renin angiotensin system （RAS） have progressively assumed an important role. Angiotensin （Ang） II acts as a profibrotic mediator and Ang-（1-7）, the newly recognized RAS component, appears to exert a counter-regulatory role in liver tissue. We briefly review the liver fibrosis process and current aspects of the RAS. This review also aims to discuss some experimental evidence regarding the participation of RAS mediators in the pathogenesis of liver fibrosis, focusing on the putative role of the ACE2-Ang-（1-7）- Mas receptor axis.

Production of “Mel” Papaya Seedlings under the Application of Different Irrigation depths

Water management is considered one of the most prevalent factors in the production of quality seedlings in commercial crops. despite the benefits provided, the technique is still little used by irrigating users, who, for the most part, do not adopt any criteria for water use. Thus, aiming at the rational use of water resources and increasing the productive potential of seedlings, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different irrigation depths on the production of formosa “Mel” papaya seedlings (Carica papaya L.). The experiment took place in a greenhouse, located at the federal Institute of Espírito Santo, Campus Itapina, in Colatina, ES. The treatments consisted of six irrigation depths corresponding to 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 mm·day−1 adjusted in a completely randomized design, with 25 plants per treatment. The variables evaluated were: plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, dry mass of the aerial part, dry mass of the root system, total dry mass and Dickson’s Quality index, 58 days after sowing in all experimental plots. At the end of the experiment, it was found that the 7.36 mm·d−1 irrigation depth provided better quality, in addition to lower water consumption, being the most recommended for the production of formosa “Mel” papaya seedlings.
