In 2008,the European Association for the study of the liver(EASl) defined occult hepatitis B virus infection (OBI) as the"presence of hepatitis B virus(HBV) DNA in the liver(with detectable or undetectable HBV DNA in the serum) of individuals testing hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) negative by currently available assays".Several aspects of occult HBV infection are still poorly understood,including the definition itself and a standardized approach for laboratory-based detection,which is the purpose of this *** clinical significance of OBI has not yet been established;however,in terms of public health,the clinical importance arises from the risk of HBV ***,it is important to detect high-risk groups for occult HBV infection to prevent *** main issue is,perhaps,to identify the target population for screening *** is very low or undetectable in occult HBV infection,even when the most sensitive methods are used,and the detection of the viral DNA reservoir in hepatocytes would provide the best evaluation of occult HBV prevalence in a defined set of ***,this diagnostic approach is obviously unsuitable:blood detection of occult hepatitis B requires assays of the highest sensitivity and specificity with a lower limit of detectionl for HBV DNA andl for HBsAg.

Selective butyric acid production from CO_(2)and its upgrade to butanol in microbial electrosynthesis cells

Microbial electrosynthesis(MES)is a promising carbon utilization technology,but the low-value products(i.e.,acetate or methane)and the high electric power demand hinder its industrial *** this study,electrically efficient MES cells with a low ohmic resistance of 15.7 mU m^(2)were operated galvanostatically in fed-batch mode,alternating periods of high CO_(2)and H2 *** promoted acetic acid and ethanol production,ultimately triggering selective(78%on a carbon basis)butyric acid production via chain *** average production rate of 14.5 g m^(-2)d^(-1)was obtained at an applied current of 1.0 or 1.5 mA cm^(-2),being Megasphaera *** key chain elongating *** a second cell with the catholyte containing the enriched community resulted in butyric acid production at the same rate as the previous cell,but the lag phase was reduced by 82%.Furthermore,interrupting the CO_(2)feeding and setting a constant pH2 of 1.7e1.8 atm in the cathode compartment triggered solventogenic butanol production at a pH below *** efficient cell design resulted in average cell voltages of 2.6e2.8 V and a remarkably low electric energy requirement of 34.6 kWhel kg1 of butyric acid produced,despite coulombic efficiencies being restricted to 45%due to the cross-over of O_(2)and H2 through the *** conclusion,this study revealed the optimal operating conditions to achieve energy-efficient butyric acid production from CO_(2)and suggested a strategy to further upgrade it to valuable butanol.

Feasibility Assay for Measure of Sternocleidomastoid and Platysma Electromyography Signal for Brain-Computer Interface Feedback

A feasibility assay is conducted for electromyography measure in sternocleidomastoid and platysma, tenting to use it on Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) feedback. It is proposed a case of study for four healthy subjects with an average of 35 years old, two females and two males. Methodology proposed includes signal acquisition and processing with feature extraction of RMS, Mean and Variance. The data are acquired with the AD board NI USB-6009, interfaced with labView and processed in Matlab. An uncertainty analysis was made obtaining a system uncertainty of ±2.31 mV. ANOVA analysis was done, with a randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) experiment and interaction of factors and residues obtained with the software Minitab.

Persistence of hepatitis B virus-DNA in the sera,peripheral blood mononuclear cells or in the liver of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) -negative patients with or without serological markers of previous exposure(antibodies to HBsAg and/or to HB-core antigen) defines the entity called occult hepatitis B infection(OBI).Co-infection with hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses is frequent in highly endemic *** this co-infection increases the risk of liver disease progression,development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and also increases the rate of therapeutic failure to interferon-based treatments than either virus alone,a potentially negative effect of OBI on clinical outcomes and of therapeutic response to current antiviral regimes of patients with chronic hepatitis C remains inconclusive.

Patient-centric dose equivalency pilot study of incobotulinumtoxin a(xeomin)*** a(dysport)in the treatment of glabellar frown lines

AIM： To determine whether different intravitreal doses of quinupristin/dalfopristin lead to electroretinographic or histological changes in the rabbit retina over one month period after injection. METHODS： Eighteen New Zealand white rabbits were divided into three treatment groups （groups 1 to 3） and different intravitreal doses of quinupristin/dalfopristin were tested in each group. The right eye was injected with the drug and the left eye received intravitreal injection of 5% dextrose water and served as control eye. The doses delivered to each group were 0.1 mg/0.1 ml, 1 mg/0.1 ml and 10 mg/0.1 ml. Simultaneous, bilateral, dark-adapted electroretinography and clinical images of both eyes were obtained in all groups before injection （baseline） and after 7, 14, 21 and 28d, followed by enucleation for histological examination. RESUlTS： Subjects in the group 1 showed no signs of toxicity in the electroretinogram when compared with groups 2 and 3 （Kruskall-Wallis test, P=0.000）. By day 7, no electrical response to light stimuli was recorded in the treated eyes in groups 2 and 3, consistent with severe damage due to retinal toxicity. light microscopy revealedno significant histopathological changes in the group 1, while rabbits in groups 2 and 3 had signs of granulomatous inflammation in most cases. CONClUSION： Intravitreal 0.1 mg/0.1 ml doses of quinupristin/dalfopristin do not lead to electroretinographic or histological signs of retinal toxicity compared with 1 mg/0.1 ml and 10 mg/O.1 ml in this rabbit model.

lightweight Approach to Connect Business Rules with Aspects

Aspectual connection that compose business rule, refers to the code in charge of not only triggering the application of the rules at certain events, but also gathering the necessary information for their application and incorporating their results in the rest of the core application functionality. We propose an approach to connect business rule with aspect systematically. This approach is agile, programming language-independent, business rules type independent and it can be used in different stages of development. This approach considers the identification, analysis and construction of connections with aspects, (aspectual connection). We use our experience and previous works to define the initial steps, and complete them with the analysis of interactions and propose methods to implement aspectual connections code. We have developed a tool that supports this approach.

Degradable magnesium-hydroxyapatite interpenetrating phase composites processed by current assisted metal infiltration in additive-manufactured porous preforms

This work explores ceramic additive manufacturing in combination with liquid metal infiltration for the production of degradable interpenetrating phase magnesium/hydroxyapatite(Mg/HA) composites. Material extrusion additive manufacturing was used to produce stoichiometric,and calcium deficient HA preforms with a well-controlled open pore network, allowing the customization of the topological relationship of the composite. Pure Mg and two different Mg alloys were used to infiltrate the preforms by means of an advanced liquid infiltration method inspired by spark plasma sintering, using a novel die design to avoid the structural collapse of the preform. Complete infiltration was achieved in 8 min, including the time for the Mg melting. The short processing time enabled to restrict the decomposition of HA due to the reducing capacity of liquid Mg. The pure Mg-base composites showed compressive yield strength above pure Mg in cast state. Mg alloy-based composites did not show higher strength than the bare alloys due to grain coarsening, but showed similar mechanical properties than other Mg/HA composites that have significantly higher fraction of metallic phase. The composites showed faster degradation rate under simulated body conditions than the bare metallic component due to the formation of galvanic pairs at microstructural level. Mg dissolved preferentially over HA leaving behind a scaffold after a prolonged degradation period. In turn, the fast production of soluble degradation products caused cell metabolic changes after 24 h of culture with not-diluted material extracts. The topological optimization and reduction of the degradation rate are the topics for future research.
