Occasional Tillage in a Field Established under Conservation Agriculture for Tomato Cropping

The Conservation Agriculture (ca) is a current concept drives to save natural resources for agricultural production based on the minimum soil disturbance or no-tillage, crop rotation and permanent maintenance of straw on soil surface. The increasing in soil density is a problem to achieve great copping yield under ca, so occasional one-time tillage is considered as an alternative to continuous no-tillage. In this way, this experiment was carried out to compare occasional tillage and no-tillage interacting with cover crops in a field established under conservation agriculture. Thus, the experimental treatments were set up by two tillage methods, conventional tillage and no-tillage and two cover crops, white lupin and millet setting in a randomized blocks with split plot design with four replications. The traits evaluated in the research were soil fertility, soil resistance to penetration, soil moisture and tomato agronomic performance. No-tillage was more efficient to preserve soil moisture;however soil fertility, soil resistance to penetration and tomato yield were favored by conventional tillage. Regarding to cover crops white lupin increased the soil K concentration and enhanced the tomato growth. Although occasional tillage had better performance to the soil fertility and tomato yield, we highlighted that ca is the better way to increase soil health and soil and water conservation along the time leading to so desired regenerative agriculture.

Management of hepatitis C in patients with chronic kidney disease

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection is highly prevalent among chronic kidney disease(CKD) subjects under hemodialysis and in kidney transplantation(KT) recipients, being an important cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. The vast majority of HCV chronic infections in the hemodialysis setting are currently attributable to nosocomial transmission. Acute and chronic hepatitis C exhibits distinct clinical and laboratorial features, which can impact on managementand treatment decisions. In hemodialysis subjects, acute infections are usually asymptomatic and anicteric; since spontaneous viral clearance is very uncommon in this context, acute infections should be treated as soon as possible. In KT recipients, the occurrence of acute hepatitis C can have a more severe course, with a rapid progression of liver fibrosis. In these patients, it is recommended to use pegylated interferon(PEG-IFN) in combination with ribavirin, with doses adjusted according to estimated glomerular filtration rate. There is no evidence suggesting that chronic hepatitis C exhibits a more aggressive course in CKD subjects under conservative management. In these subjects, indication of treatment with PEG-IFN plus ribavirin relies on the CKD stage, rate of progression of renal dysfunction and the possibility of a preemptive transplant. HCV infection has been associated with both liver disease-related deaths and cardiovascular mortality in hemodialysis patients. Among those individuals, low HCV viral loads and the phenomenon of intermittent HCV viremia are often observed, and sequential HCV RNA monitoring is needed. Despite the poor tolerability and suboptimal efficacy of antiviral therapy in CKD patients, many patients can achieve sustained virological response, which improve patient and graft outcomes. Hepatitis C eradication before KT theoretically improves survival and reduces the occurrence of chronic graft nephropathy, de novo glomerulonephritis and post-transplant diabetes mellitus.

目的:探究丁酸盐(BT)在炎症性肠病(IBD)细胞模型中的保护作用。方法:将人正常结肠上皮细胞(FHC)进行培育,用脂多糖(LPS)诱导构建炎症性肠病细胞模型,分为对照组、炎症组及0.25 mmol/L BT+LPS组、0.5mmol/L BT+LPS组、1 mmol/L BT+LPS组。其中对照组正常培育,不需额外添加任何试剂,炎症组加入浓度为100 g/mL的LPS刺激FHC细胞24 h;BT+LPS组分别加入相应浓度(0.25、0.5、1 mmol/L)的BT干预FHC细胞24 h,再加入浓度为100 g/mL的LPS刺激24 h。使用不同浓度(0、0.5、1、2、5 mmol/L)的BT作用于FHC细胞24 h和48 h后,通过细胞活力检测确定BT的浓度范围;然后分别使用0.25、0.5及1 mmol/L的BT溶液干预FHC细胞24 h后,加入100 g/mL的LPS作用24 h,RT-qPCR和ELISA分别检测对照组、炎症组、0.25 mmol/L BT+LPS组、0.5 mmol/L BT+LPS组和1 mmol/L BT+LPS组中COX-2、白细胞介素(IL)-6 mRNA以及蛋白的水平,明确BT对FHC细胞的保护作用与浓度的关系;最后电镜观察对照组、炎症组及1 mmol/L BT+LPS组中细胞的微观结构变化。结果:BT的浓度在1 mmol/L以下时FHC细胞活力在90%以上,并且作用24 h和48 h后细胞活力无明显变化。RT-qPCR结果显示,与对照组相比,炎症组中COX-2 mRNA、IL-6 mRNA升高(均P0.05)。与0.5 mmol/L BT+LPS组比较,1 mmol/L BT+LPS组COX-2 mRNA和IL-6 mRNA(t=4.561、5.196,均P0.05)。与0.5 mmol/L BT+LPS组比较,1 mmol/L BT+LPS组IL-6和COX-2水平(t=4.674、3.217,均P<0.05)差异具有统计学意义。电镜下对照组FHC细胞展现出正常且完整的微观结构,实验组FHC细胞微绒毛变稀疏,紧密连接结构被破坏,1 mmol/L BT+LPS组FHC细胞微绒毛呈现部分脱落,紧密连接结构破坏减轻。结论:BT浓度在1 mmol/L以下时,对炎症性肠病细胞模型的保护作用随浓度的增加而增强。

On the role of the uncertainty principle in superconductivity and superfluidity

We discuss the general interplay between the uncertainty principle and the onset of dissipationless transport phenomena such as superconductivity and superfluidity. We argue that these phenomena are possible because of the robustness of many-body quantum states with respect to the external environment, which is directly related to the uncertainty principle as applied to coordinates and momenta of the carriers. In the case of superconductors, this implies relationships between macroscopic quantities such as critical temperature and critical magnetic field, and microscopic quantities such as the amount of spatial squeezing of a Cooper pair and its correlation time. In the case of ultracold atomic Fermi gases, this should be paralleled by a connection between the critical temperature for the onset of superfluidity and the corresponding critical velocity. Tests of this conjecture are finally sketched with particular regard to the understanding of the behaviour of superconductors under external pressures or mesoscopic superconductors, and the possibility to mimic these effects in ultracold atomic Fermi gases using Feshbach resonances and atomic squeezed states.

Recovering of Damping Coefficients for a System of Coupled Wave Equations with Neumann Boundary Conditions:Uniqueness and Stability

The authors study the inverse problem of recovering damping coefficients for two coupled hyperbolic PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions by means of an additional measurement of Dirichlet boundary traces of the two solutions on a suitable, explicit subportion F1 of the boundary F, and over a computable time interval T 〉 0. Under sharp conditions on Г0= Г／Г1, T 〉 0, the uniqueness and stability of the damping coefficients are established. The proof uses critically the carleman estimate due to Lasiecka et al. in 2000, together with a convenient tactical route ＂post-carleman estimates＂ suggested by Isakov in 2006.

EQUIVALENCE OF SEMI-LAGRANGIAN AND LAGRANGE-GALERKIN SCHEMES UNDER CONSTANT ADVECTION SPEED

We compare in this paper two major implementations of large time-step schemes for advection equations, i.e., Semi-Lagrangian and Lagrange-Galerkin techniques. We show that SL schemes are equivalent to exact LG schemes via a suitable definition of the basis functions. In this paper, this equivalence will be proved assuming some simplifying hypoteses, mainly constant advection speed, uniform space grid, symmetry and translation invariance of the cardinal basis functions for interpolation. As a byproduct of this equivalence, we obtain a simpler proof of stability for SL schemes in the constant-coefficient case.

Seamount chains and hotspot tracks:Superficially similar,deeply different

Nearly 80%of the seafloor extension has not been covered by high-resolution bathymetry,impeding direct observation of ***,lists of seamount location and height at a global scale have been produced using different *** this work four of such databases(publicly available)are compared with each other to assess their *** identify large differences among databases that could have exerted strong influences on models of seamount production and associated geodynamic *** those differences,it is shown that all databases allow the identification of seamount lines both along the present-day Mid Ocean Ridge(MOR)system and on intraplate ***,those seamount lines do not coincide with the so-called hotspot tracks that commonly were defined by selectively focusing attention on the larger *** of all the databases also shows that distinction based only on seamount size between seamounts produced at Mid-Ocean Ridge(MOR)environments from those associated with mantle-plum fed-hotspot activity has been ***,combined with the fact that most seamount lines defined by the available databases can be traced back to past locations of MOR indicates that most of the present-day intraplate linear arrays of seamounts,which include some large seamounts,were not produced by the action of underlying mantle anomalies envisaged in the form of mantle *** evidence presented here calls for a reassessment of the form in which volcanic and tectonic activities are conceptually related to each other.
